[Audio] Echoes’ ‘Fight The Feeling’

It’s been over a year and a half since we reported that Indie-ElectroPop heroes Echoes “are putting the finishing touches to a very special début single release”. Well, the single comes out at the beginning of next month and, frankly, we call that just tardy. Not that the guys haven’t been a) knocking out some stunning reMixes, b) re-gigging the band and c) playing some hot live shows in the meantime, but still, when your last actual release was on electronic rumors Volume 1, it’s time to get your heads down and give the people what they want. Still, they’ve gone and got themselves signed to the awesome Wall Of Sound, home to everyone from The Human League to Röyksopp, which is no mean feat, and the single, Fight The Feeling, is sounding amazing.

Energetic and anthemic, Fight The Feeling should come with a government health warning. It doesn’t, so we feel it’s only right to inform you that once you hit that play button, this song will be stuck in your head for the rest of the week. Easing you into the infectious retro Pop with some gentle resonant synths before launching into an Italo infused bassline and a driving rhythm track. The choruses are where the song really does it’s damage though, mixed up with new girl vocals (the aforementioned band re-gigging) it delivers all that Echoes epicness in the form of an insanely catchy refrain. Having just been PopJustice’s song of the day, we reckon it’s about time for the rest of the world to hear Fight The Feeling and get on board with what been saying for years, Echoes are awesome. World domination awaits.

[Audio] Chvrches’ ‘Lies’ reMixed by Tourist

So, yeah, Glaswegian ElectroPop overlords Chvrches’ début track, Lies, is, as suspected, getting re-released with a full reMix package. The version of the track on their stunning début album, The Bones Of What You Believe, we a re-recorded version anyway, so it kinda’ makes sense. Also, it’s a strong-as-hell song that deserves wider exposure than it got first time around. So it’s all good.

the first of the reMixes to break cover comes from London producer Tourist who eases you slowly into the tune with a lush piano and vocal intro. This clean, and haunting, take on the song lasts for almost half the reMixes length, before Tourist flips the tune into a Bass heavy Deep House groover with hints of Chicago here and there. It;s compelling stuff, but you can;t help but feel like it’s not quite there. Don;t get us wrong, Tourist’s mix is full of amazing ideas and a beautiful sonic pallet, but unfortunately it never really delivers on the amazingness it promises, leaving it always just short of perfection. Still, a worthy addition to the Chvrches reMix pantheon and one we hope to be dancing to in a club soon.

[Audio] New Arcades’ ‘Somewhere’

Right, stop what you’re doing. There’s a new tune from London’s finest. Dreamwave duo New Arcades have premièred the first taster of what we can expect from their forthcoming second EP. The follow up to this summer’s self titled début. Back with the big vocal tunes, the kind that are going down a storm at these guy’s acclaimed live shows, Somewhere brings us more urban epicness from the capital.

This time around the duo deliver a mid-paced tune, at a perfect three and a half minutes, of nostalgia and feeling. Somewhere brings together all the elements we’ve come to expect from a New Arcades tune, the bright lead lines, the growling bassline, the soaring, heartfelt vocals. These guys pull of impassioned ElectroPop better than most people in the country right now. With both a strength and a vulnerability in the vocals, and a comfortable warmth to the music, New Arcades deliver the perfect music for dreamers.

[Video] Joe Goddard’s ‘Taking Over’

The title track from Hot Chip and The 2 Bears’ Joe Goddard’s current EP, Taking Over, is now doing it;s thing in video form. This soft and sweet ElectroPop tune is the perfect introduction to the EP’s four tracks of intelligent electronic music.

Directed by Mark James delivers a suitably hazy video, with just the right amount of weirdness we’re beginning to expect from anything to do with Goddard, in this case a singing kebab.

[Audio] Televisor’s ‘Can’t Get Enough’

It’s time for this week’s ‘song featruing Patrick Baker’! Only joking, it’s actually been a whopping eighteen days since we last posted about a song graced by Mr. Baker’s vocals, I think the internet was starting to get withdrawal symptoms. We are starting to get a little suspicious that their might be a hostage situation somewhere, and every-time a Nu-Disco or Chicago House producer creates a track that doesn’t feature Patrick Backer on vocals a hostage gets shot, thus preventing Patrick from working on his own excellent music and homogenizing everyone’s tracks. Nu-Disco and House producers…blink twice if you need help.

Televisor’s Can’t Get Enough is actually an excellent tune. A breezy poolside Disco tune with just the right amount of nostalgia. Big vintage sounding stabs riding over wicked Disco licks give the track it’s quirky Funk, as they glide over playful synths and a rock solid beat. The vocals are, well, Patrick Baker vocals, you know the drill by now. Impeccable as always, but a little too thinly spread. Can’t Get Enough is part of a charity compilation called EDM: Every Day Matters that is out now, and although it’s a terrible, terrible tile (the mere idea of British people using the term ‘EDM’ makes us shudder) it’s raising money for Comic Relief, which is an amazing cause so you should check it out.

We’ve actually been waiting a lifetime for someone to do a decent reMix of The Clash’s 1982 anthem Rock The Casbah. One that respects the original and feeds into it’s groove, whilst layering it in synthesizer goodness. Well Canadian producer Wolf Saga has come pretty close. In lieu of his début proper EP, which is coming soon, he’s released this reMix. A brave attempt and one which, for the most part, he pulls off with style.

Imagine, if you will, a heady combination of Piano House, ElectroPop and Electro-House all mixed up with The Clash’s Funk-Punk and a touch of Dreamwave in the breakdown Nah, we couldn’t have imagined it either. So we’re pretty glad that Wold Saga imagined it for us, because he’s done a band up job in translating Rock The Casbah from epic Punk anthem to epic Dancefloor anthem. Same rush of energy, same thrills, but with warbling synths and a floorfilling beat this time around. Grab this for your weekend.

[Video] Miami Horror’s ‘Real Slow’

Here’s the new video for Aussie Dreamwavers Miami Horror’s current single Real Slow, featuring the vocals of Superhumanoids’ Sarah Chernoff. A hazy ElectroPop dream for what’s left of your summer.

The clip was directed by Victor Pakpour and is a beautifully shot, full of slo-mo retro goodness.
