You may recall, at the start of the month we let you know about a great new compilation from a great new record label. Nude Disco is now one of London’s top club nights, a production outfit AND a record label and to kick off their label venture they self-released the Nude Disco Selections Vol. 1 compilation album. That Nude Disco & Friends record is now getting a general release with the Beatport edition coming with three exclusive tracks, the most exciting coming from Kill Me Softly, a collaboration between Nude Disco’s Vern, Dirty Vegas’ Paul Harris and our very own Jane Elizabeth Hanley from Kids At Midnight.

Catch is a bright, sparkling, Poppy Nu-Disco track. Prepare yourself for one of those choruses that’ll be stuck in your head for the rest of the week. Thick with a sweet pumping bass and a broad selection of breezy keys, Vern and Paul whip up a top quality DiscoPop track with a comfortable poolside vibe. It’s to this mix that Jane injects a passionate performance. Heartfelt vocals that manage to be both touching and a massive earworm. It may not be summer anymore, but re-capture the vibes with this one.

[Download] Freak You reMixes Natural Animal’s ‘Who You Are’

Freak You is so classy. Seriously, every one of his reMixes in the past couple of years has avoided bandwagons, avoided fads, avoided genres even. He just delivers, classic sounding, somewhat timeless, dance music tunes that always hit the right note with the track being reMixed. His latest work is a mix for Toronto based duo Natural Animal and their song, Who You Are.

Freak You takes the almost Tropical sounding Bedroom Pop track and morphs it into a brooding epic. Flipping Who You Are’s Island hook into a hypnotic refrain gives the track an anchor and frees up the rich strings and reverb washed vocals to freely ebb & flow in and out of the track creating an enigmatic, but emotionally resonant mood. Freak You works his sound pallet to it’s fullest, teasing every ounce of humanity out of the track yet keeping both feet planted firmly on the dancefloor.

[Download] Joel Hood’s ‘Follow the Fool’

Joel Hood is a musician from the north of England whose lush Chillwavey ElectroPop has just been snatched up by Sunday Best, who will be releasing his début EP next year. In the meantime Joel has just finished, and released online, a new tune titled Follow The Fool to give you a taster of what to expect from the EP.

Follow The Fool is surprisingly laid back and Tropical for something originating in The North. It’s also peculiarly British, compared to his contemporaries, in a way that we just can’t put out finger on but we love all the same. The track builds a swirling cloud of sound, from the running bassline to haunting snatches of Sax, the track is a multi-layered synthesizer dream that floats over a 90s beat. Add a pinch of hazy vocals and you have five minutes of downtempo, electronic brilliance. just what we needed this week.

[Audio] Disclosure’s ‘Apollo’

London duo Disclosure’s acclaimed début album, Settle, is less than six months old and they are already dropping brand new tracks. You would have thought the commercial success of Settle would have seen the guys coasting for a while, but no, they’ve been back in the studio and Apollo is the result.

There’s no vocals here, no collaboration, this a raw, undiluted Disclosure. In a way Apollo feels like Disclosure going back to their roots somewhat. There’s a definite leaning toward the dancefloor of darkened warehouses and strobe lit late night clubs that Radio 1 Roadshows. Hypnotic and ethereal, Apollo, blends a little House, a little Acid, a little Rave, a little Techno and even a little Psy Trance, into one undulating monster. Unrelentingly groovy, this really is one to loose yourself in.

[Download] DCup & Mereki’s ‘Don’t Be Shy reMixed by La Felix

Why this isn’t on the single release of  DCup’s Don’t Be Shy we have no idea. This reMix of the feel-god Nu-Disco monster, featuring the vocals of ElectroPop artist and Goldroom collaborator Mereki, comes from the one-and-only La Félix, and is quite, very, possible out favourite version of the song.

There’s nothing about this track that isn’t just a warm wave of good-times. La Félix adds a certain poolside grove to the tune. With a lush piano hook, thick Disco stings and a popping slab bassline, he whips up a smooth and sexy vibe that Mereki’s sweet vocal just adds to. This is the prefect Friday track if you need any help getting in the mood for the weekend. Enjoy.

[Video] Suns’ ‘Bells’

London based avant-garde ElectroPoppers Suns consist of Andy McDonnell and Michael Tyrrell. Despite forming two years ago the due are only just about to release their début EP, WeAreSuns. The Synth haze of Bells is the first track to break ground from the EP.

Check out the video, put together by Stuart Sinclair, whose darkly psychedelic visuals match the track perfectly.

In recent years Cheap Thrills label boss and UK Bass legend Hervé has been flexing his musical muscles, his last album, Art Of Disappearing, was downright Experimental in places. Now he’s bringing the bass back to the dancefloor with his forthcoming EP Lion. The first track to surface from the new release if Gorilla which sees Hervé back in full on bass loaded House mode with an added shuffle.

Gorilla revolves around a hypnotic, slightly Acidic hook. The kind of hook that makes you forget where you are or what the time is when you’re on the dancefloor, as you just sink into it. Back with a solid beat with a hint of a Garage-y swing, Gorilla is a pretty striped down track, dance music distilled to it’s core elements, like drinking a shot instead of a pint, or something, this is a mainline injection of floorfilling goodness.

Box Of Wolves

Close is the new tune of Canadian Chilly-Disco-meister Box Of Wolves. Taken from a compilation released this week, it perfect mid-week music. Funky enough to get you thinking toward the weekend, but chilled enough not to mess with your shit this Thursday. Check it out.

Close is just under four minutes of pure electronic bliss. With a healthy nod to both 80s SynthPop and early 90s classic dance music, it’s a tune that you can just relax into and let it carry you away. The play between the chord progression and the purcussion sounds particularly SynthPop which, when coupled with the Orbital-esque bass vibe and the waves of hazy vocals make for a spot-on slice of synthesizer escapism.

[Download] Touch Tone reMixes Work Drugs’ ‘Modern Living’

Well, this is, without a doubt, the Poppiest thing that Dreamwave OG Touch Tone has released to date. The LA based producer get’s right involved with the catchy sing-a-long anthem Modern Living from Philadelphia Indie outfit Work Drugs and delivers a full on ElectroPop, one which could quite easily chart.

Pairing up Touch Tone’s Robo-Pop with Work Drugs whimsical, typical, Indie vocals seems like a match made in heaven. With it’s saccharine, sin-a-long chorus (and lot’s of ‘”yeah, yeahs”) it;s the kind of tune that begs for waves of pin sharp arpeggios and comforting pads. Mash it up with a solid Disco beat and you have the recipie for Pop greatness. Alright, so the original song might be one of the most irritating things we’ve heard in a while, but in Touch Tone’s skilful hands you’ve got an ElectroPop juggernaut.
