Here’s an awesome new slice of Electro Boogie from the team-up of a master and a newcomer.French Touch pioneer and all round dance music legend Lifelike has got together with London based fresh face Tommi Bravo to drop Urban Sex, on Nurvous Records, next month.
The track, which is already getting spins from the likes of Kavinsky, Pyramid, A-Trak and Aeroplane, is a massive slice of retro Pop-House. Taking cues from B-Boy Electro, Electronic Soul and 80s Pop, Urban Sex applies them to a solid House groove. This one’s all about big , stabbing synths, driving kick drums and sweeping flourishes. If you like your dance music loaded with 80s references, but with a chunky big-room feel, then this one’s for you. Lifelike does the business again, and Tommi Bravo jumps onto our radar. Check it out.

Here’s two absolutely legendary heavyweights of electronic music in one track. How is that not amazing? We introduced you to 80s icons Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark’s new single, Dresden, earlier in the month, well here it is as envisioned by SynthPop pioneer John Foxx, here in his John Foxx And The Maths guise.
Pulsating robot-synths and machine beats are the order of the day here as Foxx brings his cold, futuristic, SynthPop to OMD’s more human take on the genre. Shuffling, noisy rhythms and relentless synth bass craft out a core for the track to unleash a combination of icy vintage synth drones and Andy McCluskey’s passionate vocal. To pillars of 80s music, who have both been delivering quality, intelligent, synth sounds consistently over the past two decades, here show why they are innovators, why they are so respected, and why they are still forces to be reckoned with in 2013.

If you haven’t already, you definitely need to check out UK House duo Disclosure new single When I Fire Starts To Burn, the pre-cursor to their stunning, forthcoming début album Settle. It;s deep, techy, Chicago goodness.
Here’s the video, directed by Bo Mirosseni. It’s testifying madness.
While you’re here, get on-board with ElectroPop artist Patrick Baker’s funky vocal edit of the track, layering the original with a few choice snatches of his own talented vocal. Adding a subtle new dimension to the track, Patrick drags When A Fire Starts To Burn even further into the 90s.

French master Yuksek has been so busy recently. After being relatively quite for a spell, he’s dropped a whole heap or released and reMixes recently, from his awesome Partyfine EP#1 containing the stunning Last Of Our Kinds on his own brand new label, to recent killer reMixes for the likes of C2C and Griefjoy, the man hasn’t stopped this year.
And it doesn’t look like he’s letting up either as he;s straight back in the game with this reMix of Château Marmont’s Wind Blows. Château Marmont have been rocking us since 2009, but it’s only now that they have finally got around to releasing their, long, long awaited début full length record, The Maze, from which this track is taken. It’s a sweeping tune that’s given a typically raw club mix from Yuksek. If you like euphoric piano, twisting 303 Acid lines, and a Disco swagger then you’re in for a treat. Yuksek makes his gritty groove work sweetly with Château Marmont’s vocals. This track got all the Indie-electro slickness of a Marmont track and all the hands-in-the-air rush of a Yuksek track, that;s the best of both worlds right there.

This is the video for Katy B’s really quite excellent new single What Love Is Made Of. A cracking retro House-Pop tune with some big rush moments.
Emil Nava directed the clip, which is all urban and boy-racer, or something. Really nicely shot though, with gritty cinematic flair.

Brooklyn’s Follow Me are back with a brand new track that continues their chameleon like change from a slick Dreamwave outfit into a cool-as-hell retro House outfit. They’ve been hitting us with some storming reMixes recently, most recently their awesome reworking of Soul II Soul’s Back to Life (However Do You Want Me?), but it’s time for them to drop a new original tune, and this one is massive.
Somethin’ ‘Bout You, is a pumping House track with an absolutely killer bassline. Brimming with spaced-out Dubby effects, this track let’s it’s various elements, swirling synths, hazy vocal hook, swim in and out of the track, wrapping themselves around that think, punchy bassline that rides the House groove. Follow Me have really stepped up their game with this one, and instant slice of dance music nostalgia with a modern and ecclectic twist.

The Bot’Ox boys are at it again, this time putting together some kind of crazy Nu-Disco supergroup as the present White Water. White Water sees Cosmo Vitelli and Julien Briffaz getting together with SidWho? A.K.A. Surahn Sidhu, former bassist for The Swiss for songwriting duties and roping in the likes of Dye’s Juan De Guillebon and Jeremy Hickey on bass and drums.
With all these musicians in place, Bot’Ox and SidWho? set out to write and record a track the old fashioned way. Recorded live to tape with their hand picked session musicians around them, Daylight was then ‘edited like an old extended Disco track’, which is a bit of a vague statement but we can only assume that means tape splicing was going on. The result is a raw, impressively vintage, sounding Disco tune with a rolling Funk and a catchy vocal. Loaded with synth pop and zaps amidst the live groove, Daylight is a successful experiment in Disco brap. reMixes to come from Jacques Renault and Domenico Torti.
