Final DJs’ ‘Moonlight Serenade’

finaldjs

Germany’s Final DJs are at it again.

‘Moonlight Serenade’ is another fantastic synth workout from the guys. A slow builder that eases you along with burbling arpeggios, slowly layering chords and stabs until it drops some seriously amazing synth leads on your ears. There is a real, authentic, 80’s action TV show theme quality to the leads in this track, they could sit quite happily alongside the likes of Airwolf, Street Hawk or Manimal but in this instance they are partnered with a kicking beat.

Justin Faust’s new EP

justinfaust

Today sees the release of the long awaited new EP from Nu-Disco producer extraordinaire Justin Faust.

Dropping on Discotexas, the ‘Girl Talk’ EP is paced with three tracks and another three reMixes from some of the biggest names in the game. The whole thing is top quality, slickly produced, Electro Disco goodness. The title track is a solid groover with enough funk in its low end and sparkle in it’s top to keep any party jumping. Alongside that monster is ‘High Hopes’, a beautiful synthesizer journey, more mid-tempo and dreamlike than Faust’s usual output but a welcome interlude in the middle in a storing EP. It’s chilled retro sound working as the heart of the EP. Amongst others reMixes come from Bit Funk, who’s filtered Disco blazes through ‘Girl Talk’ and takes it straight to the danceflooor. Doesn’t even buy it a drink first!. Australia’s awesome G.L.O.V.E.S. brings a nice mix-up between Disco and 90’s House which teases you until it kicks back in, after the piano breakdown, with full on synth Funk.

Goin’ Old School: Simple Minds – Don’t You (Forget About Me)

Simple Minds’ ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ from 1985. Oh don’t look at me like that, you love it! I’m off to find a football field to stride across with my fist pumped in the air…then freeze.

Marsheaux reMixes Sally Shapiro

SallyShapiro

Out favourite Greek SynthPop girls Marsheaux have taken on Swedish DiscoPop heroine Sally Shapiro (and that Agebjörn bloke) for their latest reMix.

‘Jackie Jackie (Spend This Winter With Me)’get a classic SynthPop makeover with an Italo twist. Clean and crisp synth sounds in Marsheaux’s modern-retro style, taking influence from early 80’s SynthPop and mid-80’s Italo, pile up in their reMix which retains the introspective nature of the original but adds a few layers of electronics.

Sally Shapiro – Jackie Jackie (Spend This Winter With Me) (Marsheaux reMix)

‘Jackie Jackie (Spend This Winter With Me)is taken from Sally Shapiro’s album ‘Disco Romance’; out now.

Ellie Goulding & Bassnectar; the video

Well, they’ve gone and taken the video for ‘Lights’ by Ellie Goulding and chopped it up to fit Bassnectar’s reMix of the tune.

I’m not sure how much crossover there is between heavy Dubstep and fluffy ElectroPop, but Bassnectar does a bloody good job of trying.

MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ video

MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ is one of my favourite tunes of the moment. It’s just do damn catchy.

After a brief absence, while MM did proper band photo shoots and stuff, the mice are back in the new video for the single. The video’s cute, the songs infections, I’m expecting this tune to be huge.

‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ is released 18th July with a stellar line up of reMix talent including Mario Basanov, Edwin Van Cleef, Blamma! Blamma!, Tronik Youth, and Tareq.

Le Crayon, Kube & Ecxellior

lecrayon

France’s Le Crayon has teamed up with Kube to drop a new tune, ‘We Don’t Care’.

A frantic Disco and talkbox workout, ‘We Don’t Care’ is at the same time chilled and hyper. An effect created by the layering of cut-up Disco and smooth talkbox vocals. Le Crayon’s production takes in a wide range of French influenced from Ed Banger electro to dreamy French Touch and works it into a whole that doesn’t seem cluttered. There’s definitely something about this tune that you can’t help but move to. I’ll be keeping an eye on Le Crayon. Ecxellior are on the reMix with a dirty Funk take on the track. this time it’s all about late night dancefloors and pulsating, body shaking bass. Ecxellior mix, with it’s roll after roll, is designed purely to keep the party jumping.

Gesaffelstein’s ‘Viol’ & Ghostriders video

Deep electronic groove merchant Gesaffelstein’s new EP, ‘Conspiracy Vol. 2’ dropped this week.

The lead tracks ‘Viol’ has been used as the soundtrack for a film by Ghostriders, which serves as the tracks clip. Ghostriders are a bunch of hipsters riding fixed-gears at night. Yeah, I know, but it does make for quite a nice video, and the track is ace.

‘Conspiracy Vol. 2’ is out now,

New EP from Toro Y Moi

toro_y_moi

Chillwave staple Toro Y Moi in more of a smooth mode right about now.

He’s just announced his latest EP, titled ‘Freaking Out’ which is rumoured to be influenced by the likes of the Gap Band and Teddy Riley. You can hear that in Toro Y Moi’s cover of Alexander O’Neal & Cherelle’s ‘Saturday Love’. Slick late 90’s electronic R&B with a dreamy Chillwave sheen and an ear for spaced-out Funk. The tune, which features on the new EP, is a sweet love song with a mind-blowing bassline seen through the haze of reverb washed psychedelia.

‘Freaking Out’ is released 13th September.
