Goin’ Old School: Kajagoogoo – Too Shy

Kajagoogoo’s ‘Too Shy’, look beyond the cheese. It was 1982, it wasn’t cheese then! This track has some killer bass and killer synth riffs.

Neon Hitch & DiscoTech

neonhitch

Later this summer Neon Hitch releases her new single, ‘Bad Dog’ which has been given and Electro Funk going over by Gigamesh’s three man wrecking crew DiscoTech.

The jury is still out on way way Neon Hitch is going to go. She started out quite a quirky, interesting, pop singer but is now on a precipice looking into a chasm of bland. I really like her voice so I have my fingers crossed she doesn’t get lumped with some unfeeling hit-factory producer but rather develops a voice of her own. Although I fear my hopes may have come too late. Anyhoo, this mix from DiscoTech is pretty storming, a nice bouncy slice of DiscoPop.

Rimer London’s new single

Rimer London must be one of my favourite artists around, I love the way he creates a Disco groove without heading straight down the French Touch route.

Decidedly analog and synth geek heaven, Rimeroni Vumani’s sound is exemplified on his new single ‘Put Your Gun Away’ featuring Cata Pirata. The third from his self-titled album. It’s quirky analog SynthPop with a Moroder-esque Disco vibe. From the infections riff to the vintage drums, the track conjures up images of Rimeroni surrounded by keys and wires creating dancefloor gold. There’s also a lot of fun to be had with the video, you can watch the original version here, and then had on over to Magnetron Music’s special site to become part of the video yourself.

Together reMixed by Viceroy

together

Ahhh, Thomas Bangalter & DJ Falcon. Honestly, where would we be now without them? It doesn’t bear thinking about.

In 2002 as Together, the duo had some success with ‘So Much Love To Give’ (which would be completely ripped off three years later) and now the track has been brought right up to date by Viceroy. A due who is knocking out awesome production after awesome production at an astounding rate these days. Viceroy adds just the right amount of Nu-Disco groove to the tune whilst still being respectful of a classic. Nice percussion and piano adds a little Balearic feels to the tune making perfect for long summer nights.

Para One & Tacteel’s new EP

Para One & Tacteel

French duo and producers in their own rights Para One & Tacteel drop a new EP this week after a long stretch of silence.

The EP, ‘Fair Enough’, contains a pretty stunning five tracks. Intricately crafted electronic music with a Disco groove, an experimental side to them and some cinematic musicality. ‘Rome’ is the most Disco track on the EP, funky analog tweaking for a 70’s synth sound flies atop a rounded bass sound and a solid, head nodding, foundation. But underneath the dancefloor orientation and the electronic indulgences there is a well written song too. Both the composition and arrangement are first class. ‘A1’ rolls like a distorted Italo tune in the hands of a Dub experimentalist, these guys obviously have fun with creating electronic music and a definite ear for what gets people dancing. This is a recommended EP.

Acid Washed reMix Koudlam

kouldam

If you want some pure electronic burbling the Acid Washed is always a sure bet.

Check their new reMix of Koudlam ‘I See you All’, it layers arpeggio upon arpeggio whist always retaining that, almost quirky, sense of music humour you often get with Acid Washed tracks. Fun and a little left-field but at the same time a storming dancefloor tune. It’ll sit alongside reMixes from Yuksek, Mickey Moonlight and Arnaud Rebotini on the forthcoming single.

Keenhouse’s new reMix for Christian Strobe

christianstrobe

A man who’s always been a bit ahead of the game when it comes to retro synths dance music, Keenhouse, provides one of the reMixes for Christian Strobe’s début single.

Christian Strobe is the brand new solo-project of Christian Schnall, fifty percent of Disco Trash Music and Spruce, who’s ‘Midnight Call’ is a deep Housey ElectroPop track that Keenhouse gives a summery piano led sheen. Bringing a slightly Balearic vibe to his work Keenhouse combines the sunrise beats with a massive 90’s House riff and Nu-Disco production that uplifts the vocals into a euphoric anthem that seems to keep adding layer upon layer of emotional sounds.

Syncdrifters

Syncdrifters

Syncdrifters are a slick Electro-Funk-Pop outfit from Warsaw who, after a run of reMixes have dropped a spanking new tune ‘Just A Game’

Featuring the vocals of Ela Stasiuk, ‘Just A Game’ is a totally infectious track with equal helpings of Funk, Disco and ElectroPop. Densely packed synth bass and Disco leads pack out this massive tune, topped of with catchy vocals. Hold tight for the guitar solo, it’s brings the 80’s crashing into a song which you’re probably going to be hearing a lot of in the coming months.
