A new old track from Mitch Murder

mitch murder

An old track with a new twist now from Mitch Murder.

He must be riding high on the success of his new album, ‘Current Events’, (and well deserved too) ‘cos he’s given fans an early X-Mas present in the form of a remastered version of the opening track from his 2009 EP ‘After Hours’, ‘After Hours Run’. You probably know the track by now, pure Murder, epic dancefloor soundtrack SynthWave with that Mitch Murder quality of being able to speak to you, emotionally. With this new remaster the tune is founding fresher than ever.

Popular Computer’s new single

Popular Computer

Out this week is Popular Computer new record, ‘Lointain’.

We’ve been waiting for the release for a while now and it’s a stormer. Parisian Sylvain Dalido get’s into a synthetic Disco state of mind with a laid back electronic sound packed with vintage synths and Disco licks. On the reMix is a whole bunch of our favourite producers. Australian Dreamwave master Muffin, who has been away far too long, drops a delicious retro beach party of a tune, mixing up the Disco and the ‘80’s, which just highlight why we need to hear more from this man. Pharao Black Magic get their analog Disco groove on with a deep bass driven slice of slo-mo electronic Funk. Robotaki’s contribution is a wonderful mix of everything good in Nu-Disco and SynthWave with a strong Moog Funk rhythm section, twisting lead lines and shimmering retro chords fit of a perfect sunset.

Flow Machines cover Saint Etienne this X-Mas

More X-Mas cheer today, this time from Manchester ElectroPoppers Flow Machines.

Flow Machines’ ‘I Was Born On Christmas Day’, is a nice, upbeat SynthPop cover of Saint Etienne and Tim Burgess’ track from their 1993 ‘X-Mas ‘93’ single. Sarah Cracknell’s part is played by Elbows collaborator Louise Turner. The track is full if the kinds of magical sounds you’d expect, no, demand from an X0Mas tune. Enjoy.

Gazella’s ‘Goodbye’

Gazella

Brennnessel is a new label run by Polish ElectroPop trio Kamp!, one of their first releases is ‘Goodbye’ from fellow Pole Tomasz Jamroz A.K.A. Gazella.

Straight-up deep and moody SynthPop, ‘Goodbye’. With a strong line of ‘80’s Pop DNA running through it the track is sparse with the vocals, but that sits nicely with it’s spacious sound. Like a Disco in a dungeon, ‘Goodbye’ combines a funky groove with cold, cavernous production. Awkoder, up the retro stakes even higher with a Pet Shop Boys-esque bassline and a hint of Blue Monday, on their SynthWave reMix, culminating in a soaring synth-guitar solo.

Strangers bring some, albeit melancholy, X-Mas cheer

strangers

I think this is our first X-Mas tune of the year! The last couple of years we’ve had a flood of new X-Mas ElectroPop but this year seems quieter.

Well, here’s Strangers to make sure little Timmy gets all the SynthPop he wants this holiday. Bringing their bombastic melancholy with them Strangers load their majestic ElectroPop with a heart-breaking tale of something so simple as missing someone at X-Mas and hoping things get better. Let face it, all the best X-Mas tunes are shot through with sadness, and these guys effort is up there with the best. While you’re fighting back the tears though, I would like to point out that there are sleigh bells in it, and you know what that means!

Own one of Katja Ruge’s huge synth pieces.

Were you impressed by photographer/designer/all round Electro-head Katja Ruge’s giant synthesizer tiled photos from her recent ‘Kann denn Liebe Synthie sein?’ exhibition? We were! Synths are generally things of beauty anyway, but Kaja’s stylised presentation of them makes each one look like the prefect design.

Well, now you can own one of these impressive works for yourself. Katja has released her vision of the Korg MS20 for your wall or floor. Limited to just 100, the work measures 200cm x 140cm and is made up of 49 tiles.

Something extra from Mitch Murder

mitch-murder

I’m going to presume you have already bought Mitch Murder’s new album, ‘Current Events’, one of the albums of the year? If not, you should. if you have, here is something a little extra from the man.

‘Last Call’ is pure ‘80’s soulful ElectroPop. Deep sounds and the hint of synthesised electric guitar just bring to mind Jan Hammer’s moodier Miami Vice moments. With a bass sound that reminds me of Trevor Jones’ ‘Labyrinth’ soundtrack, the Florida licks and some sax moods coming into the finale there are so many movie moments I can see this track working in. From the hero brooding in the calm before the storm to the spotlight prom dance in a teen flick, this tune has just the right vibe.

Augustin’s Freeez edit

freeez

I love Freeez’s ‘I.O.U.’, it’s a track with a lot of memories for me. SO bearing in mind I[‘m going to be over critical about any reworks of the track, I have to say Augustin’s Disco edit really works.

Augustin has chopped the track up and given it a 21st century dancefloor makeover. Some of the beats are a little rough when listening on headphones but I’m sure they would go down a stormed in the club. The tracks got a nice build to it too, definitely one to drop.
