MiGHty mOUse’s new EP

It’s all go at  MiGHty mOUse HQ! For a start May sees the release of their new EP, titled ‘The First EP’.

The first track to see the light of day from the EP is ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ which sees the usually introspective Disco kings go flat out DiscoPop to awesome effect. Having teamed up with a new singer the new team MiGHty mOUse produce an uplifting groove that’s worthy of a hit single.

♫ MiGHty mOUse – Wheel Of Fortune

On top of that, MM are planning their first ever live show at XOYO in London on the 15th April alongside Rob Da Bank and the likes of Edwin Van Cleef, and B-Xentrix!. Details here.

If all that’s not enough then round off your dose of MiGHty mOUse with this reMix they’ve dropped of Shades Of Rhythm’s classic ‘Sweet Sensation’. Some deep analog Disco there!

Show Your Shoe’s début EP

Show Your Shoe jumped into our consciousness with an awesome reMix contribution to Futurecop!’s ‘Dreams’ single, which made quite an impression, and this week he releases his début EP on Teenage Gang Records.

From the moment the opening track ‘Pandi’ kicks in, you have to wonder where this kid has been hiding. The one-man project of Swiss producer Nico Müller, Show Your Shoe effortlessly (and smoothly I might add) slides from one end of the Nu-Disco spectrum to the other, whether it’s the cut-up edits of ‘Pandi’, the slick synthesizer funk of ‘Azur Indigo Prisma Safran Marmor’ or ‘Technik City – Arrival’ or the more post-Daft Punk Electro leanings of ‘Technik City – Jet Skiing’, Nico’s clean production and ear for the groove easily make the ‘Technik City’ EP on of the most impressive Nu-Disco débuts to drop in a while.

The EP also includes two reMixes of ‘Technik City – Jet Skiing’, one from Italian DJ Gabriell, a bass heavy Italo-Disco workout and this track by another of our favourite new artists, Druma Kina, who turn in a really nice, arpeggio driven, retro synth mix which revels in it’s synth horns!

LIGHTS’ new ‘My Boots’ reMix

Canadian SynthPop goddess LIGHTS has reMixed herself, for chuckles apparently.

Her last single, ‘My Boots’, was probably the most Disco tune she’s done to date, so for this reMix she’s run in the other direction and gone darkside on the track. ‘Re:Boots’ centres around some heavy, almost Industrial, rapid fire drums and wall of sound production give the tune a new edge. It’s not quite got the groove of the original, but replaces that with a live feel and rawness.

LIGHTS is holed up right now working on her sophomore album.

The Knocks reMix Jon Fratelli into an Electro beast

Jon Fratelli, who is, unsurprisingly, a member of Indie Rockers The Fratellis, is about to release his first proper solo single, titles, ‘Santo Domingo’.

‘Why should you care?’ I hear you ask. I’ll tell you why, ‘cos this reMix by The Knocks is stunning, even worth the cost of the single. Fratelli’s Rock ‘N’ Roll swagger is prefect fodder for the NYC duo to work some piano Disco/Electro-Rock magic on this track. It’s a driving, powerful track that keeps the guitar riff subtly in the background to underpin some massive 90’s style dance chords and some heavy bass synth. It’s a pity that this kind of tune mostly  turns up in reMixes. There are a few bands I can think of that make this kind of stuff but they are few and far between, it generally only occurs  when really talented reMixers meet proper Indie-Rockers. So enjoy it whilst you can!

‘Santo Domingo’ is released 18th April on Island.

New CHEW LiPS track!!!

Oh CHEW LiPS, how you’ve been missed! Sometimes it takes reconnecting with a thing it realise how much it was missed.

And this new demo CHEW LiPS have just dropped have really made me realise how much I have missed them. Or, to put it a better way, made me remember what it is about them I love so much. I have missed the stripped down production that still manages to sound huge, missed the layers of toy-town synths, missed Tigs’ sassy, soulful vocals that bring an instant warmth to the tracks and missed the sing-along choruses.

Their second album is still a long time coming, but if this demo is anything to go by, it has everything I have missed by the bucket load.

CHEW LiPS are looking to release their second album late this year.

Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’ reMixes

Gemini Club’s awesome ‘Ghost’ was defiantly one of our tunes of last year, in all it’s myriad reMix forms. This week sees the track’s proper release, at long last, as a massive reMix package.

Alongside the instant classic original version there’s reMixes you’ll already know, such a Hey Champ!’s, and some new versions from Only Children and Golden Bug. Also featured are these two mixes from Mr. Frankie Barretso and Indie-Electro Newcomers Blue Satellite. Barretso’s effort is a rapid fire Electro take on the tune that’s a pure dancefloor rush while Blue Satellite opt for a laidback, no worries, DiscoPop that’s the prefect smooth comedown.

A-Ha’s ‘The Blue Sky’ reMixed by DannielRadall

We featured DannielRadall and her latest EP of 80’s ElectroPop inspired Chillwave last week, and as thanks Danniel has sent on over her reMix of A-Ha’s ‘The Blue Sky’, from 1985’s hit packed ‘Hunting High And Low’ album.

Here she tackles A-Ha with the same approach she has to her own music. The song shifts from bouncy, crisp, 80’s Pop to reverb drenched Chillwave with funk. With samples from the original expertly manipulated into new grooves, ‘The Blue Sky’ is reinvented for 2011.

SebastiAn’s new ‘Embody’ video

This’ll keep me going the weekend! The first new track to début from SebastiAn’s forthcoming album, ‘Embody’ has now had it’s video premiered too! The track is Electro Disco as only the Ed Banger crew can do it, French Touch vocal samples and that Ed Banger slap bass. It all bodes well for the album!

The video is directed, of course, by So Me

SebastiAn’s début album, Total, is out in May on Ed Banger.
