More new music from Neon Indian

Neon-Indian

Here’s the new track from Neon Indian from his forthcoming album, ‘Era Extraña’.

‘Polish Girl’ is a lush, dreamy summer nights SynthPop track. With the simplest of lead lines Neon Indian buries the melody in your consciousness, becoming a rock for the multi-layered synths and bouncy bass to work their magic. With one foot in Chillwave and the other in the 80’s, ‘Polish Girl’’s laid back nostalgia takes you away to better times.

Computer Blue’s ‘Game Boy’ EP

computerblue

Robot Dance Records Electro-House act Computer Blue are calling it a day, but the word is they are going on to bigger and better things.

In memory of the duo’s project RDR are giving away their one and only EP. ‘Game Boy’ is a brilliantly bouncy jam, the kind of track you loose yourself in on the dancefloor. There are a bunch of reMixes too, the standout being from Ernest Miller who’s chainsaw lead line and 8-bit melodies make his reMix a track to be reckoned with.

You can download the whole EP on SoundCloud, but I’d recommend paying a few quid for it, it’s worth it.

Shook reMixes Fallulah

Fallulah

Break out the Moog Funk, Dutch smooth Disco king Shook has reMixed Danish Indie-Pop singer Fallulah’s ‘I Lay My Head’.

This is the perfect track to ease you into the weekend. That thick synth bass has got the Funk so hard that it would get your head nodding even if you were in a neck brace. Add to that some sweet Disco licks some 70’s roller-rink lead lines and you’ve got yourself a heady summertime jam that slides across the dancefloor.

Fallulah’s ‘I Lay My Head’ is out now.

Mayer Hawthorne covers Chromeo

chromeo

I’m never really sure what to make of bands putting cover versions of their own tracks by other bands on their releases. Did Kitsuné start it?

Here we have Mayer Hawthorne covering Chromeo and Solange Knowles’ ‘When The Night Falls’, taken from Chromeo’s ‘When The Night Falls Single’. Being Chromeo’s single it’s billed as written below, but surely that should be ‘Mayer Hawthorne – When The Night Falls (Chromeo Cover)’, no? Mayer Hawthorne being the artist. But I suppose that would screw up sales in iTunes or something. And as a blogger who am I writing about? Chromeo, or Mayer Hawthorne? Who get’s the picture and the purchase links? Today I’m going with Chromeo as it’s their single, but it does my head in.

Anyhoo, I’m sure you want to know about the music. Luckily after all that it’s pretty damn good. It is quite an achievement to take a Chromeo track and make it smoother, but Mayer Hawthorne manages it, bringing a laid back 70’s Funk to the track. Stick this track on and everything slips into slow motion/

Big History

bighistory

Graphic Designer & SynthPop producer Japayork has given us the heads up about a new project he’s managing, Big History, and the track he sent over is storming.

This New Orleans based six piece create live sounding ElectroPop with an emphasis on song. Vocalist Meg Roussel croons her way through a deeply personal and intimate song, all husky and intense while the other five (six peice? I don’t even want to imagine what the band arguments are like!) craft a melodic and muli-layered ElectroPop sound which is, well, as intricate as you’d expect with six people involved. ‘Wardrum’ is a seriously impressive début with the potential to excite both dancefloors and headphones alike, whether you like your ElectroPop with your hands in the air at 3am or lying on your bed with the curtains drawn, Big History fits the bill.

Azari & III’s ‘Manic’ video

Azari & III’s single ‘Manic’ has not got a video.

This amazingly catchy, house single is just a precursor to their self-titled album, which promises to be a stormer.

‘Manic’ is out now with Azari & III’s album following 8th August.

New track from Casiokids

casiokids

Casiokids, those Norwegian Analog SynthPop kooks have announced the release of their sophomore record, titled ‘Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen’ (in English ‘The Revelation Over The Mountain’) later this year.

‘Det Haster!’ will be the lead single from the 10 track LP, and give us a taste of what to expect. Casiokids merging of their experimental side and their fun, Pop, side shines through in ‘Det Haster!’ as the live drumming and the obvious joy the band take in wigging out on analog synths is focused into a cute little melody and bouncy groove.

Casiokids – Det Haster!

‘Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen’ will be released 11th October on Polyvinyl.
