Peter Bjorn & John reMix The Golden Filter

 TheGoldenFilter03

The Golden Filter’s ‘Hide Me’ single is out this week and amongst the reMix package is this interpretation by  Peter Bjorn & John, or rather John Eriksson’s project Hortlax Cobra.

Atmospheric, floaty and quite experimental and featuring more of John’s vocals than the Penelope’s, the reMix strips The Golden Filter of their New York Disco but seems to keep their atmosphere and feeling of the original.

The Rouge Element

TheRougeElement

The Rogue Element A.K.A. Ben Medcalf returns with a new single after his recent acclaimed album ‘Lumina’.

There’s something almost mid 90’s Seattle Grunge about the vocals in this track which actually work amazingly well in an electronic setting and along with the toyshop synth solo give this ElectroPop track a real rock feel.

The Vanish – Beyond Deep reMix

TheVanish03

Do we need to sing the praises of The Vanish and their recent début single ‘Hold On’ one more time? Well, if you haven’t gone out and purchased it then I suppose we do!

Easily one of our favourite single of the year so far, The Vanish seem to make the point where everything we dig, Indie-Electro/ElectroPop/Dreamwave/Electro-House, converge in just the right measures to be something truly special. Along with the likes of Russ Chimes and Gemini Club, Beyond Deep provide one of the reMixes for the single, a deep, sunrise-esq, with some great subtle vocoding.

Cavaliers Of Fun reMix AXXE

AXXE02

Wow! Here’s two bands we’ve been pretty vocal about digging, and it’s just awesome it when two artists we love come together!

It was a couple of months ago we raved about Montreal Electro-sleazesters AXXE, we really dug their take on low down dirty ElectroPop, without going into comedy, faux sleaze, ElectroClash embarrassing territory and Cavaliers Of Fun have dropped some of our favourite tracks of recent months. His work on AXXE’s ‘S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Night’ is not exception, keeping the powerful vocal structure and dropping it over his particular brand of ElectroPop/Space-Disco.

LCD Soundsystem’s new video

We’ve actually been pretty lax about posting all this LCD Soundsystem news that’s been going on, we’re pretty exited about the new album, which you can stream on the band’s official website, it’s defiantly sounds like it’s gonna’ be the Post-Punk/Disco-Punk chaotic brilliance it’s expected to be.

Check out the Spike Jonze directed video for the first single from the new album, ‘Drunk Girls’, a  LCD ruckus party track that harks back to ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’:

LCD’s new album,‘This Is Happening’, drops 18th May.

Don’t Wait Animate reMixes

DontWaitAnimate

We posted about Don’t Wait Animate a while back, their post-Nu-Rave Indie-Dub-Electro thing is pretty unique. A jagged inner city mash-up of styles and influences.

The London 5 piece have dropped by the electronic rumors Inbox to big up a couple of reMixes of their début single, ‘6174’. The Dirty Disco deliver something special, completely deconstructing the track and building it back up into a dancefloor ElectroPop smash with some heavy heavy beats and more than a couple of nods to Dubstep as does Coin Operated Boy’s 8-bit noise rave.

Thieves Like Us’ new single

ThievesLikeUs02

This week sees the release of Thieves Like Us’ latest offering, the ‘Forget Me Not’ single. This will be the second taste, after the ‘leaked’ track ‘Never Known Love’, of their forthcoming new album ‘Again And Again’

To get you in the mood for the new single try checking out these two remixes, including one by Gomma artiste Cecile who’s dancefloor beats betray the haunting nature of the reMix and the Second Date mix, which is my favourite so far, with a nice modern-retro feel to it. Full of arpeggios and 80’s synth chords without ruining the melancholic nature of the original.

New Alice In Videoland single! Spaceship

AliceInVideoland03

Long-time readers of electronic rumors should be no strangers to Swedish ElectroPunk outfit Alice In Videoland (they even made our top 20 tracks of 2009!), they are one band we can’t help but get enthusiastic about.

Some exiting news, then, coming out of AiV HQ, the guys are finalizing the recording of new material and are gearing up for the release of a brand new single!

‘Spaceship’ is one of the most commercial tracks to come out of the AiV camp (despite the lyrical content), but that’s no bad thing. Pushing their raw ElectroPunk sound into territories verging on Electro-House and Pop, the single is like Lady GaGa or Goldfrapp run through a distortion pedal. Catchy as hell (something a little bit lacking from their last album) with an infections riff ‘Spaceship’ reminds you of just how in-your-face electronic music, and even Pop, can be in the right hands.

Alice In Videoland have been kind enough to allow me to share the track with you lot:

A definite welcome return for Alice’s Electro-Pop-Punk soundclash.

Crystal Castles’ new singles!

CrystalCastles02

As we mentioned a couple of days ago, Crystal Castles are gearing up to release two new single in the coming weeks and now you can listen to radio rips of both new tracks.

The first, released in a very limited edition quantity of 500 copies, for Record Store Day tomorrow, is ‘Doe Deer’ is chaotic Crystal Castles at their finest, with a maddeningly repetitive riff and Alice screaming like a nutter over distorted drums and synths it is the Crystal Castles we know and love turned up to 11.

The forthcoming single proper is a bit of a (pleasant) surprise though. It’s not like CC haven’t produced melodic tunes before, but ‘Celestica, is pretty slick, ElectroPop. It’s still intricate in it use of electronic sounds but, in general, it’s a really club friendly Pop track with a dreamlike quality. Proper vocals and everything!

Have a listen to this rip from Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show.

Hooray For Earth

HoorayForEarth

My initial impression of New York act Hooray For Earth was ‘Folktronica’, and while I think there is still a measure of that in the mix, after listening to the whole of their forthcoming EP I can see there is more to the band.

The EP, titled ‘Momo’ is a, generally, upbeat collection of songs that are often huge, powerful Indie-electro tunes, with an extra helping of bombast, masquerading as quaint Electro Folksy tracks. It’s a Lo-Fi sound full of buzzing analog synths and heartfelt vocals, and I think that’s what’s appealing about it, despite the epicness of some of the tracks it still sounds pretty DIY.

This track, ‘Surrounded By Friends’, will probably draw obvious comparisons to the likes of Passion Pit, but defiantly has an identity of it’s own.

Hooray For Earth – Surrounded By Your Friends (zShare) (MediaFire)

I’m still gonna’ go with Folktronica, but that’s just me being lazy!

The ‘Momo’ EP is released 1st June.
