Hervé gives Lily ‘The Fear’

lilyallen21

As I mentioned here Lily Allen has gone all ElectroPop, so I’ll be interested to hear her new album, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’.

In the meantime Hervé, also known as The Count (i.e. that bloke from The Count & Sinden), has come up with this reMix of ‘The Fear’, the first single form the album, that turns it from a piano-fueled electronic Pop ditty into a dark Dubstep bassfest with some seriously traumatizing synthwork.

Client: ‘6 In The Morning’ reMixed

client

Those nice fellows at SubSpace Communications have sent on over this reMix of ‘6 In The Morning’ by UK ElectroPop goddesses Client.

Client have been a staple of the worldwide ElectroPop scene and, having weathered the mainstream’s on/off relationship with Electronic music, continue to churn out great album after great album. Maybe now the mainstream is (temporarily) in love with ElectroPop it’s time for Client to be elevated into super-stardom?

This reMix is supplied by Biomekkanik, which is Christer Hermodsson (or Crull-E!) from Sci-Fi SynthPoppers S.P.O.C.K., now producing EBM flavoured ElectroPunk with this side-project. With this reMix he turns the 60’s tinged ‘6 In The Morning’ into a hypnotic Electro-Rock beast.

Freezepop cover Yazoo

freezepop

Boston’s Freezepop have been flying the quirky-Indie-ElectroPop flag since 1999 earning themselves a dedicated army of fans worldwide.

Now they have covered Yazoo‘s ‘Only You’, with some help from Danny Gold from Polystar, as part of the Buffetlibre DJs Rewind project.

Good stuff!

Also, Freezepop produce the ‘Blood On The Keytar‘ T-shirt, one of my favourite shirts!

Ladyhawke: New ‘Back Of The Van’ reMix!

ladyhawke

Ever since I started this blog, all those 9 long days ago!, I have been waiting for the excuse to blog-the-shit-out-of Ladyhawke…and now my chance has come thanks to Electro newcomer KiD COLA. KiD’s reMix is a serious Electro Bass juggernaut, check it out:

Ladyhawke – Back Of The Van (KiD COLA reMix) (zShare) (MediaFire)

So, what can I say about Pip Brown A.K.A. Ladyhawke that hasn’t already been said? I don’t want to be flippant with the word ‘genius’, but Ladyhawk’s self-titled début album for the almighty Modular Recordings is genius!

Easily one of my favourite albums of last year, top 5 at least! Pip is a world class songwriter and the album takes it’s 80’s influences without exaggerating or parodying them. I couldn’t choose a favourite track from the album, I think any tune on there would convince you to buy it. So have a taster, with the opening song ‘Magic’.

Moroderstar!!!

georgiomoroder1

In honour of the return of Battlestar Galactica to our screens for it’s final run (absolutley badass episode BTW!), let us celebrate with Giorgio Moroder‘s 1978 disco version of the Original series’ theme tune. That fanfare brings a smile to my face every time, even if it is awash with glitterball strings!

As well as Giorgio’s disco touch this track also features Harold Faltermeyer, of  ‘Axel F’ fame, rockin’ the Moog!

There are some amazing hidden gems in Goirgio’s back catalogue.

Gildas & Masaya: This time it’s New York

gildasmasaya

January 26th (23rd on digital) sees the release of Kitsuné label bosses
Gildas & Mayasta‘s follow up to last years ‘Paris’ mix album, this time it’s ‘New York’.

Looking at the tracklist on Amazon…

  1. Heartsrevolution – Ultraviolence (Vitalic reMix)
  2. Joe And Will Ask? – Claymore
  3. Treasure Fingers – Cross the Dancefloor (Laidback Luke reMix)
  4. La Roux – Quicksand (autoKratz Drags To Riches reMix)
  5. In Flagranti – Business Acumen (Holy Ghost! Cover Version)
  6. A-Trak – Say Whoa (Alex Gopher Edit)
  7. The Faint – The Geeks Were Right (Boys Noize Vs. D.I.M. Mix)
  8. Moulinex – Breakchops
  9. Edu K (Feat. Madame Mim) – Headbanger
  10. DJ Mujava – Township Funk
  11. Fan Death – Veronica’s Veil
  12. Beni – My Love Sees You (In Flagranti reMix)
  13. Laidback Luke – Shake It Down
  14. Guns ‘N’ Bombs – Riddle Of Steel (Para One reMix)
  15. Lykke Li – I’m Good, I’m Gone (Fred Falke Vocal)

…It looks like the same mix (with the inclusion of the Laidback Luke track) that they presented on CD with Tsugi Magazine last year. That this mix is now being generally released is fantastic news as this is a seriously good 45 minuites, taking some of late last years biggest Electro-House and ElectroPop tunes and wrapping them up in a really well thought out mix. Oh, and it’s just the same length as the amount of time it takes me to walk to work…handy!

If you don’t know what you’re in for heres a couple of tunes from the album:

Treasure Fingers – Cross The Dancefloor (Laidback Luke reMix) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Lykke Li – I’m Good, I’m Gone (Fred Falke reMix Extended Version) (zShare) (MediaFire)

‘New Your’ is out 23rd/26th January on Kitsuné Music and is highly reccomended!

Le Corps Mince De Françoise

lescorps

Tonight, I’m off to Camden’s Lock Tavern to catch insane Finish ElectroPop Shouty trio Le Corps Mince De Françoise (along with the equally nutjob Crystal Fighters).

The obvious comparisons would be to the likes of CSS, Chicks On Speed or Heartsrevolution, but I think they have a unique Finnish charm all of their own.

Squarepusher: free download+new EP

squarepusher

Warp Records are giving away a free .mp3 of  ‘Illegal Dustbin’, a new Squarepusher track from his new EP ‘Numbers Lucent’ released on 19th January on 12″/CD/Download.

You can get the free track here.

I kinda’ liked the last Squarepusher album ‘Just A Souvenir’, it was the same insane Glitch-Drum & Bass-Jazz-Experimental nonsense you should be used to with Squarepusher but seemed to have all these crazy Pop overtones.

You’ve really got to be in the mood for Squarepusher though!

If you are…
