[Audio] Little Jinder’s ‘Shh’

Litenjinder

Sweeden’s BassPop princess Little Jinder is back with a bran new single, and it’s something s little different. A departure from Jinder’s madcap and upbeat electronic Pop. Shh is not only a sweet, and haunting, slice of Scandinavian goodness, but it;s sung in Josefine’s native Sweedish. This one’s a real grower.

Not quite as tangibly Pop as the likes of Whatever 4ever or Won’t Look Back, Shh feels a bit more left-field, not just because of the Sweedish vocals, but the music is playfully quaint in is use of synths and vintage drums. It’s a totally engrossing single, and one that proclaims what we’ve been saying for years. Little Jinder is pretty ace really.

[Audio] Monsieur Adi reMixes Britney Spears’ ‘Work Bitch’

britney spears

Is Monsieur Adi a Pop star yet? We were sure it was supposed to happen about now. We consulted the oracle and everything. Still What’s Going On? is released today, and it’s hotly tipped for chart dominance, so we’ll give it a week or so. In the meantime he’s doing official reMixes for Britney Spears. That’s a thing that happens when you’re a Pop star y’see.

You gotta’ give Britney credit for trying, she’s like a Pop Jack Russell trying to get at your cuppa; relentless. Also Toxic was awesome. Adi’s take on her latest single, the toe curling Work Bitch, applies his bombastic Electro to the track and is never once ashamed of going large. His rousing, cinematic, orchestration is present and correct, layered with big room synths and a nice line in boomy kicks. In anyone one else’s hand’s these huge riff and Britney vocals would have been pure cheese, but work in a little of that Adi 78-piece orchestra, and it all suddenly goes a bit epic.

Lily Allen Hard Out Here Official Video YouTube

We last wrote about Lily Allen all the way back in 2009. didn’t think we’d be doing it again. But here we are in 2013 and Lily’s back. Not only musically, but back to taking the piss out of everything, from the cheeky AutoTuning to the less-than-subtle digs, Hard Out Here is Lily’s carefree Pop at it’s finest.

Christopher Sweeney directs the video, which does the satire job adequately. You couldn’t have done anything else with the song really.

[Audio] Chvrches’ ‘Lies’ reMixed by Tourist

Chvrches

So, yeah, Glaswegian ElectroPop overlords Chvrches’ début track, Lies, is, as suspected, getting re-released with a full reMix package. The version of the track on their stunning début album, The Bones Of What You Believe, we a re-recorded version anyway, so it kinda’ makes sense. Also, it’s a strong-as-hell song that deserves wider exposure than it got first time around. So it’s all good.

the first of the reMixes to break cover comes from London producer Tourist who eases you slowly into the tune with a lush piano and vocal intro. This clean, and haunting, take on the song lasts for almost half the reMixes length, before Tourist flips the tune into a Bass heavy Deep House groover with hints of Chicago here and there. It;s compelling stuff, but you can;t help but feel like it’s not quite there. Don;t get us wrong, Tourist’s mix is full of amazing ideas and a beautiful sonic pallet, but unfortunately it never really delivers on the amazingness it promises, leaving it always just short of perfection. Still, a worthy addition to the Chvrches reMix pantheon and one we hope to be dancing to in a club soon.

[Download] Wolf Saga reMixes The Clash’s ‘Rock The Casbah’

the clash

We’ve actually been waiting a lifetime for someone to do a decent reMix of The Clash’s 1982 anthem Rock The Casbah. One that respects the original and feeds into it’s groove, whilst layering it in synthesizer goodness. Well Canadian producer Wolf Saga has come pretty close. In lieu of his début proper EP, which is coming soon, he’s released this reMix. A brave attempt and one which, for the most part, he pulls off with style.

Imagine, if you will, a heady combination of Piano House, ElectroPop and Electro-House all mixed up with The Clash’s Funk-Punk and a touch of Dreamwave in the breakdown Nah, we couldn’t have imagined it either. So we’re pretty glad that Wold Saga imagined it for us, because he’s done a band up job in translating Rock The Casbah from epic Punk anthem to epic Dancefloor anthem. Same rush of energy, same thrills, but with warbling synths and a floorfilling beat this time around. Grab this for your weekend.

[Download] Röyksopp & Susanne Sundfør’s ‘Running To The Sea’ reMixed by Late Nite Tuff Guy and Villa

Ryksopp

Norwegian ElectroPop masters Röyksopp and vocalist Susanne Sundfør’s Running To The Sea was released as a single in Norway about this time last year. Their first new single is bloody ages, it was written off the cuff for an appearance on Norwegian Music TV show Lydverket, but went on to create a massive stir online. As a result there is a full reMix package getting a general release, which will include work from Australian master of the edit Late Nite Tuff Guy and Belgium’s finest Villa.

Villa take a laid back Poppy approach to the track. A breezy piano groove and razor sharp synths keep things suitably icy. but Villa inject the Scandinavian quirkiness with a little dancefloor warmth. An immense and encapsulating track that respects the original totally whilst delivering slightly more funk. Just taking the prize though, for us, is the rework from Late Nite Tuff Guy, who just dismantles the whole track and builds it up again as an Italo Boogie Disco monster. A relentless groove, with a dancefloor swing that bubbles under with Acid intensity. A mixture of Disco bass, twisting 303s, Cosmic synths and Susanne Sundfør’s haunting vocal is pretty hard to beat. The energy just keeps building and building in this one, It’s a free download too!

[Audio] Say Lou Lou’s ‘Beloved’

Say-Lou-Lou

New Say Lou Lou tracks seem to be coming thick and fast these days. Only last month did we introduce you to the girls new single Better In The Dark, which is release at the end of this month with reMixes from Tiger & Woods, Hygrade and Andrea, and now you can check out the epic B-side, Beloved.

The sisters get their cinematic SynthPop on for this tune. It walks a nice tightrope between it’s optimistic, almost uplifting synths and a deep melancholy in the vocals, making the track a two sided affair, but one that feels lit a narrative complete. Shimmering keys and pounding drums underpin the girls vocal laments. This could have easily been a single in it’s own right, but it makes a stunning B-side.

Avec-Sans

Yay! There’s a new song from Avec Sans! The glorious London duo are back with their third, or fourth single (it’s hard to tell what is and isn’t a single these days, but we’re gonna’ go ahead and count Heartbreak Hi, The Answer and Hold On as singles, so fourth then…) of lush ElectroPop goodness. Shiver was released this week as a free download, you you’d better get involved.

Probably Avec Sans’ most polished Pop tune to date, Shiver will appeal to both hardcore Avec Sans fans and new listeners alike. Catchy, but in an intelligent way, the tune is a cavalcade of buzzing synths and dance beats. Ms. Fox’s vocals sound more epic than ever, set to a sweeping, driving, slice of ElectroPop gold.  I’m sure with Avec Sans gaining more attention, and the use of vocal samples in a rhythmic way in Shiver, that some reviewers will tediously compere them to Chvrches, we’re calling that out right now as just lazy critiquing. The two are wildly different bands, albeit ones that will probably appeal to the same audience, Avec Sans’ sound is much more rooted in the history of SynthPop than Chvrches, loaded with big, Depeche Mode style choruses. We literally cannot wait for a full length release form these two.
