Futurecop!, back to the future!

Futurecop! are back! Awesome!

The duo, who were there right at the beginning of this retro synth epidemic we now call Dreamwave, are releasing a reMix album titled ‘The reMixes ♥’ to tide us over while they work on their début long player.

The album will feature reMixes of, and by, Futurecop! from the likes of Anoraak, Digikid84, Stephen Falken and Lauren Flax. Also included is this reMix of Dreams by Silicone Project, which just sums up everything that is exiting about Futurecop!. The analog synth burbling, the big 80’s chords, the uplifting (in an 80’s teen movie way) melodies and the retro funk.

‘The reMixes ♥’ drops 31st August on FutureFlashs’ Kiez Beats label.

ODahl’s début EP

Out this week is the debut EP from Swede producer ODahl.

Probably best know for his reMixes of Tesla Boy, Cut Copy and Empire Of The Sun, ODahl busts out three original cuts on the self titled EP including ‘Dance Mama’ a dreamy, ever so slightly glitchy, summer Disco track. Pure party stuff. The track ‘Hello Hello’ appears both in it’s original from and with a reMix treatment from the awesome Diamond Cut, who turn in a rolling, arpeggio driven, Dreamwave version with some sweet big 80’s chords.

ODahl’s EP is out this week on Velcro City Records and features more reMixes from Alfa and Joman.

The Vanish return with ‘Heartbeat’

Things have been quiet from The Vanish camp since the release of their last single, ‘Hold On’ but this week sees the release of ‘Heartbeat’, the second track from their demo EP to be given the single treatment.

The Indie-Disco-Pop ‘Heartbeat’ was my favourite track on the original demo EP, making top ten in electronic rumors’ top 20 songs of 2009, so the single, and it’s stellar reMix line up is most welcome here. Speaking of ‘stellar’, Australians Get Stellar and Beaumont both provide mixes for the package.

That was a terrible segway…………….

Anyway, the Beaumont mix we have for you here isn’t the one appearing on the single, that is an 8-bit Chiptune-Disco affair, this alternate mix is a smooth electronic Pop track in the Starsmith vein that I think I actually prefer. There is a certain epic journey-ness to this mix that can’t help but win you over. Get Stellar’s reMix goes straight for the Electro-Disco jugular that’s just made for late night dancefloor action.

Also on the single is the stunning, simple stunning, Barretso reMix, if I can post it I will.

‘Heartbeat’ is our now.

Little Loud

UK Instrumental Electro producer Little Loud has been racking up a few big name reMixes under his belt in recent months, Memory Tapes, Au Revoir Simone and HEALTH have all been giving the Little Loud treatment.

As well as just completing an awesome reMix for Yeasayer , in which he turns ‘Madder Red’ into a cosmic Disco epic, Little Loud is right now working on his original, solo, material. One of the first fruits of this work is this instrumental cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing In The Dark’. Little Loud’s intricate, bright, synth work is pretty standout, the guy is defiantly carving out a unique sound for himself.

Little Loud is working on releasing a mixtape of his reMixes and original work in August/September.

Reset! and Justin Faust reMix Goldhawks

I’ve never heard of London Soft Rock band Goldhawks before, listening to the tracks on their MySpace they sound a little generic, but you’re not interested in that are you? They have a new single coming out called ‘Keep The Fire’ and it’s backed up with a totally monster reMix package!

Here we have two of the best, Italian Nu-Disco producers Reset! and the always excellent Justin Faust both take, what is essentially a good song, out of the murk of AOR and onto the dancefloor. Reset! completely demolish the original and build it up into an Italo/Balearic deathmatch while Mr. Faust’s epic Dreamwavey mix brushes the track with a bit of French Touch.

Also on the single is an electro/Dubstep mix from Bar9 and a chilled mix by Softwar. The whole package is defiantly worth your investigation.

Russ Chimes’ EP trailer!

Seems like it’s been forever waiting for Russ Chimes’s début EP to be released, but now, judging from the EP teaser he’s premiered, it looks like not only do we get an EP, but possibly a mini-movie too!

I do love music videos that tell a story!

The music sounds as top quality as we’d expect from Mr. Chimes too.

the more I watch the video the more exited I get about this release, both musically, and now, visually too!

Monsieur Adi reMixes The Knocks

Italian producer and reMixer extraordinaire Monsieur Adi has worked his magic on The Knocks new single.

Released this week, ‘Make Is Better’ is a feelgood summery Indie-Disco-Pop tune that is given the French touch by Adi who allows the track to funk along to a soaring crescendo. That final synth solo is the killer!

Midnight Conspiracy turn Crystal Castles into Italo monster!

Woah! ‘Vietnam’ was one of the cooler tracks of Crystal Castles’ second self-titled albums, it’s heavy arpeggiated bassline counterpointed with sparkling bells was pretty infections, but Midnight Conspiracy (them of the rad Chromeo and Esser reMixes) have turned it into an awesome Italo influenced Nu-Disco monster!

There’s a lot of 80’s Pop in the mix too, the claps, the lead line, the FM bassline…this is about as perfect a reMix, of quite a disjointed track, as you could get. It even drops some 8-bit sounds toward the end, something for everybody (well, me anyway)!

Grum’s ‘Through The Night’ video

The Toto sampling ‘Through The Night’ is one of my favourite tracks on Grum’s début long player.

Now it’s got a video, and it’s pretty hilarious.

Just watch:

The single should be out soon, expect remixes from The Swiss, Tom De Neef, Perseus and Grum himself.

Mighty Mouse

Nu-Disco producers Mighty Mouse are dropping their new EP next month, titled ‘Disco Battle Weapons (Volume 1)’ the EP is set to do exactly “what it says on the tin”.

If these two tracks from the EP are anything to go by they aren’t lying, here is a couple of heavy Disco tinged House tunes with everything you want. Big synths, soaring lead lines, emotive chord progression. It’s all good.

Mighty Mouse – Jungle Fish

Mighty Mouse – The Beast

both tracks were written for the duo’s ‘Disco Circus (Volume 2)’ compilation released in September.

‘Disco Battle Weapons (Volume 1)’ is released 16th August.
