Peter & The Magician is, of course Yuksek and Stephen Fasano, ex-one half of Aeroplane, both awesome producers in their own right. This collaboration between the two that appears on Kitsuné’s latest Maison compilation, Vol. 11, is some of the dopest analog disco you will hear in a while.
‘Twist’ mashes-up Yuksek’s vocoder love with The Magician’s Disco funk into something pretty special. I think so anyway, opinion seems to be divided about this track but, for me, it’s hit all the right synthesizer buttons. This is the kinda’ track that would have me melting into the dancefloor.
The Magician has also reMixes Yuksek’s forthcoming new (comeback?) single ‘On The Train’, you can hear it in his new mixtape here.
This week sees the release of French production duo BeatauCue’s latest offering on Kitsuné Music.
‘Disque Oh!’ comes with an awesome reMix package consisting of mixes by the likes of Don Rimini, J-Wow, and High Rankin and this storming Electro-Disco tune by Eumig & Chinon. Cut up and crazy, the E&C reMix is a juggernaut of Disco riffs, Distorted chainsaw synths and big room French-Touch. It’s a powerhouse of a track.
We are barely into 2011 and Kitsuné Music are already dishing out the presents. To celebrate a new decade they are giving away an EP full of some of their best releases from 2011.
The ‘Happy 2011 EP’ contains tracks from Digitalism, May86, Play Paul, Villa, Acidkids, Black Strobe and this monster from French ElectroPop mental case Yelle from her recent Kitsuné single ‘La Musique’. The tEPr reMix is just over 3m30s of deep analog Pop with a sparse atmosphere that gives way to some massive Disco chords.
Here’s a nice slice of free cosmic Electro thanks to the folks at Kitsuné Music.
Hot on the heels of their acclaimed single ‘La Vie Moderne’/’Juniocide’, Logo have dropped this free “not an X-mas song” as an X-mas present to you all. It’s called ‘BAAB’ and it’s a pulsating, hypnotic jam that reminds me (in a good way) of Electro parties in 2008 it’s got that big post-Acid Electro bass going on, Just the kind of pumping electronics we don’t hear enough of these days.
Kitsuné Music have just premiered the video for the A-side of Logo’s awesome double A-side single ‘La Vie Moderne’/’Juniocide’.
Directed by French crew AB/CD/CD the ‘La Vie Moderne’ kinda’ captures the tension of the track, as well as the humour.
Logo are appearing live in Paris on 2nd December at La Maroquinerie with Holy Ghost!, Housse De Racket & Moscow for Petit Bateau x Kitsuné Maison En Vrai! #8.
‘La Vie Moderne’/’Juniocide’ is out not on Kitsuné.

As usual London’s Kitsuné in-house DJ team JBAG have put together a minimix to showcase the album, this time in two parts. Here’s the first:
Last time Kitsuné Music collaborated with one of Richard Mortimer projects on a CD the end result was ‘Kitsuné/BoomBox’. Mixed by, both Kitsuné resident and resident at Mortimer’s legendary BoomBox club, Jerry Bouthier, the album brought together Electro-house and underground ElectroPop to amazingly capture the summer of 2007 for anyone listening to that type of music or going to those types of clubs. it was easily the soundtrack to the year.
This summer Kitsuné are partnering up with Mortimer’s current business, the London based Fashion/Music/Culture webzine PonyStep, to produce another compilation. Mixed, once more, by one half of JBAG, Bouthier, the track list is already impressive. Featuring the likes of Róisín Murphy, Bag Raiders, Adamski, Lindstrøm, Lo-Fi-Fnk, David E Sugar and Das Pop to name a few. BeatauCue’s reMix of Florrie’s ‘911’ makes an appearance in the form of a JBAG edit. As does Two Door Cinema Club’s previous single ‘I Can Talk’ as reMixed by French Horn Rebellion. With a line up like that, and Jerry Bouthier’s prowess at putting together an awesome electronic Pop mix this album should really be something special!
In gearing up for the forthcoming release of the ninth volume of their ‘Kitsuné Maison’ compilations, ‘The Petit Bateau Edition Or The Cotton Issue’, Kitsuné Music have put together a promotional video featuring music from the album and clothes from their Autumn/Winter ‘01 collection, ‘Kitsuné Ivy League’.
The video was directed by Director Loïc Prigent & Fabien Constant.
