[Video] Röyksopp & Robyn’s ‘Monument (The Inevitable End Version)

Röyksopp feat. Robyn Monument The Inevitable End Version YouTube

Here’s the video for the The Inevitable End version of Röyksopp & Robyn’s Monument. The Inevitable End being Röyksopp’s forthcoming final album release. This album seriously can’t come soon enough.

The clip is mostly footage from Röyksopp & Robyn’s Do It Again tour, which pretty much leaves us pissed that they largely snubbed the UK. Looks like fun.

Röyksopp’s The Inevitable End is released on November.

Final DJs

Final DJs as a solo act still makes my brain hurt something chronic. I absolutely hate writing it, he really should drop it down to ‘Final DJ’ at least, having to write “Final DJs is” is a crime. Well, at least the music is still coming, and still pretty awesome. Check out his new tune, All That Matters for some sunshine bliss on these increasingly cold evenings.

Final DJs delivers a buoyant House tune here with a touch of a SynthWave sheen over the top. Chirpy beats, think synth bass and a euphoric sample bounce around the track with a carefree glee; awaiting the moment those lush, warm synths slide into serve up their solo. Add in some sweet vintage chimes and you’ve got a nice slice of contemporary retro. It’s a free download too.

[Download] Route94’s ‘Shards Of Glass’

route-94_thumb

Route94 delivers possible his best tune to date with his new stormer. It’s an exclusive for Mixmag and Rowan Jones has serves up a wonderful Sci-Di Disco House tune that contains everything we love about both club music and synth music. This is the reason Route94 is fast becoming one of the most sought after in the country.

There’s hints of Boogie and Italo in Shards Of Glass, the cutting digital bassline has got a definite 80s swing to it, and the sparking keys leant toward the Jarre end of the synthesizer scale. Pairing that up with some ridiculously heavy bass and a pounding dancefloor beat Route94 delivers something both retro and contemporary, and ties it all up nicely in a House groove. Awesome stuff!

[Audio] Grum reMixes SecondCity & Ali Love’s ‘What Can I Do?’

secondcity_thumb

As if House newcomer SecondCity and ElectroPop/House legend Ali Love’s What Can I Do? wasn’t awesome enough already; along comes a shiny new reMix package courtesy of Ministry Of Sound. Sat on the single is this massive reMix from Grum. Grum’s having an amazing year with a string of slammin’ reMixes alongside his own acclaimed second album; looks like he’s planning to end the year on a high.

You know what to expect from Grum reMix; emotional synths, big sound, driving dancefloor grooves. All present and correct on his mix for SecondCity. Ali Love’s vocals belt out over a slick combination of House Piano and Progressive synths, rising and evolving as the track pounds toward it’s finale. Euphoric and uplifting, Grum deliver another big room killer with this one.

[Download] Futurewife With Sister Girlfriend’s ‘Summer’s End’

Futurewife

Seattle’s resident groove master Futurewife and ElectroPop three piece Sister Girlfriend seem like the most nightmarish match made in heaven, yet the results are a pure dream. These guys have teamed fellow local resident Tiffany Wan to deliver this tricked out Funk jam, Summer’s End. So sit back, put your feet up and your headphones on, and sink into some of the smoothest sounds around.

Futurewife serves up some infectious rolling bass hooks and Old School Hip Hop beats for his slick vintage Disco to flow over. Thick synth stabs and retro sweeps form a neat package that allows Futurewife and Tiffany Wan to roll out a sweet duet over the top. It’s an interesting combination of influences, but this time too many cooks certainly don’t spoil anything. This melting pot definitely works.

[Download] Starcadian’s ‘Wrecking Shot’

Starcadian

Back in 2012, when we were just getting to know his work, New York’s synthesizer mastermind Starcadian released what is possibly one of the best mashups ever unleashed on the world. First Kill crammed in Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Pharoahe Monch, Queen, Belinda Carlisle, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Busta Rhymes and Wu Tang Clan over some seriously hard hitting Disco sounds. Now, with one of our favourite albums of last year, Sunset Blood, under his belt, and with the storming new Saturdaze EP, on the horizon Starcadian drags you back to the dancefloor with his follow-up bootleg. This is Wrecking Shot.

This time around Miley Cyrus, Ol’ Dirty Bastard & Kelis and Tracy Weber get run through Starcadian’s galactic groove machine and spat out the other side in as a mirror-balled glam jam. Piled high with the finest French Touch, Nu-Disco and a surprising amount of Italo, Wrecking Shot once again surprises us as Starcadian makes seemingly disparate songs weave in and out of each other seamlessly. Where Fist Kill was full throttle Electro, Wrecking Shot has a smooth and soulful side. This should more than keep you going until Starcadian brings his urban synth Disco, with a Saturday morning TV theme vibe, on the new EP.

Starcadian’s Sunset Blood is out now. The Saturdaze EP is released 26th September.

[Download] Blueshift’s ‘Low Tide’

Blueshift

Philly DJ, French Express founder and one half of Mr. Falcon, Blueshift, is back with a brand new jam. Well, he’s not really; this one is fresh in the wild but dates from 2010 “or something” and has been dug up from his archives and delivered here as a free download. Blueshift has had a pretty awesome year with some storming released and mixes, but now he’s looking back with Low Tide; a track that comes from an age old time when the man “was really into nu-disco”. Like he’s not anymore!

Saying that though, Low Tide maybe loaded with Tropical hooks, but there’s a load of House in there too. The track rolls on big 909 snares and big Chicago-esque vocal samples. Sure, that rubs shoulders with cascading island purcussion and a Disco-y line in piano riffs, but there’s House there all the same. And it makes for a nice mix, Blueshift shouldn’t keep stuff like this to himself for so long!
