Yeah, I’m blogging Lady Sovereign…what?
I really like this reMix of her forthcoming single, turning Grime in Nu-Disco. I hear her new album is going to be more Electro infused. We shall see.

Tomorrow sees the digital release of Yuksek‘s début album ‘Away From The Sea’ (the physical release is 2nd February) and it promises to be a noisy Nu-Disco ElectroPop scorcher.
A French producer making French Electro; Yuksek has plied up loads of big name reMixes over the last couple of years, everyone from Kaiser Chiefs to GhostfaceKillah , making this album pretty eagerly awaited.
If the likes of ‘Extraball’ are any indication, it’s not going to dissapoint!

The album also includes last year’s banger ‘Tonight’.

If you truly care about someone, give the gift of Yuksek…
What better on a Sunday afternoon than some straight-up, no-bullshit Electro?
Shadow Dancer release their début album ‘Golden Traxe’ on 23rd February (22nd digital) and come courtesy of Electro factory BoysNoize Records.
‘Poke’, the first track on the album, is an addictive Electrofest.

The, ever-wonderful, supreme overlords of alternative electronic pop music Ladytron return with the third single from the Vicarious Bliss produced album ‘Velocifero’.
‘Tomorrow’ is released on the 23rd February on Nettwerk, it wouldn’t have been my first choice for the next single but is a fine choice none the less.

ReMixes are provided by, amongst others, Jeuce.

I hope they play live again in London soon!
Picking up Ladytron’s back catalogue from one of the fine vendors below would be a smart move that would earn you the respect of your peers!
So, the Oscar nominations are in.
Heath’s Joker for Best supporting Actor…”check”!
‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Hellboy II’ getting nods in the special effects and make-up categories… a pleasantly surprising “check”!
No love for ‘The Dark Knight’ in best picture or best director categories…an disappointingly unsurprising “check”!
Best original song is an interesting one though:
WALL-E – ‘Down To Earth’ – Peter Gabriel & Thomas Newman
Slumdog Millionaire – ‘Jai Ho’ – A.R. Rahman
Slumdog Millionaire – ‘O Saya’ – A. R. Rahman & M.I.A.
That’s right, British/Sri-Lanken Electro MC M.I.A. being recognised by the Academy…nice!!! The Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack was also released on M.I.A.’s N.E.E.T. label.
The Oscars roll around 22nd February.

Yes…’Paper Planes’ is also on the soundtrack 😉 , ‘Paper Planes’ seems like so long ago!

M.I.A. has already made it clear she wants to take your money, so you may as well comply.
Hot Chip‘s finest cover version to date comes courtesy of War Child’s latest charity compilation ‘Heroes’.
It really does sound like Joy Division fed through a Hot Chip machine, every bit as driving and haunting as the original.
♫ Hot Chip – Transmission (Joy Division Cover) (zShare) (MediaFire)
Hot Chip appear on the album alongside the likes of Lily Allen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Peaches, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand and TV On The Radio, amongst others.
‘Heroes’ is released on the 16th February.

Joe And Will Ask? will finally received the Kitsuné Music seal of approval when their track ‘Claymore’, originally off the ‘Hell Hawk’ EP, gets released as a single by the French Electro label on the 26th January.
Man, it’s an Electro Banger.

Also, check the pounding bass of their Mystery Jets reMix.

Go spend your pocket money on Joe And Will, go on!
Lady GaGa‘s next single will be ‘Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)’, which I thought was a pretty mediocre track on her début album.
However, reMixes for the single will be supplied, amongst others, by Frankmusik…

…AND PET SHOP BOYS!
Not too shabby, huh?
La Roux‘s next single will be ‘In For The Kill’.
Not sure of a release date yet, but here’s a reMix by Max Heyes to tide you over.

Ever since I started this blog, all those 9 long days ago!, I have been waiting for the excuse to blog-the-shit-out-of Ladyhawke…and now my chance has come thanks to Electro newcomer KiD COLA. KiD’s reMix is a serious Electro Bass juggernaut, check it out:

So, what can I say about Pip Brown A.K.A. Ladyhawke that hasn’t already been said? I don’t want to be flippant with the word ‘genius’, but Ladyhawk’s self-titled début album for the almighty Modular Recordings is genius!
Easily one of my favourite albums of last year, top 5 at least! Pip is a world class songwriter and the album takes it’s 80’s influences without exaggerating or parodying them. I couldn’t choose a favourite track from the album, I think any tune on there would convince you to buy it. So have a taster, with the opening song ‘Magic’.

By now you will be clamoring to purchase some Ladyhawke, try here:
