At the start of the week we dropped the majestic ElectroPop new single from Ladytron’s Helen Marnie, Wolves. Today we drop the video. Go there to read the words, stay here to watch the pictures. Simple.

The clip was directed by Helen herself and Michael Sherrington and is a glossy, hazy, performance piece. I hope you like lens-flare.

Marnie

Last year; Crystal World, the début album from Ladytron’s Helen Marnie turned out to be one of our favourite records of the year. It’s an LP that still gets a fair amount of play around these parts, so we never expected to get our first taste of Marnie’s album number two so soon, but here is Wolves, the first single from her sophomore release; due out next year.

Instantly more uplifting and optimistic that the content of Crystal World; Wolves, a track inspired in part but the forthcoming referendum on Scottish independence, is loaded with swelling chords and rousing choruses. Easing itself in with a growling, buzzing synth line, the track soon erupts into a rapturous choir of majestic synths and anthemic vocals. Marnie’s follow up album could turn out to be an entirely different beast.

[Audio] Reset! reMixes Ladytron’s ‘Ritual’

Ladytron

ElectroPop legends (yup, I’m pretty sure we can call them that now) Ladytron are working toward a very special Black Friday Record Store Day release this year. November’s celebration of physical media (the second this year) will see the band release a reMix version of their latest album, Gravity The Seducer. Between now and then the band are dropping a couple of reMixes to buy. This version of Ritual from Italian outfit Reset! follows Gosteffects’ Ambulances reMix.

Gravity The Seducer wasn’t Ladytron’s finest moment, and Ritual not one of the album’s standout track either, but Reset! do admirably, turning the Proggy epic into a fairly groovy Disco-House track. The track works best when it deviates from the original significantly, throwing everything from big-room leads to ChipTune chaos into the mix. The end result is an almost French Electro power tune with occasional bouts of swirling guitar breakdowns. We’re definitely looking forward to finding out who else was called up to produce a track for the album, we’ve heard some rumors we’ve got our fingers crossed for.

Ladytron’s Gravity The Seducer reMixed is due out in 29th November, Black Friday Record Store Day.

Here’s out first taste of Ladytron’s Helen Marnie’s forthcoming solo album, Crystal World. The album is being crowdfunded and the first track comes in the form of The Hunter. It’s sounding awesome, deep pulsating SynthPop topped with Marnie’s instantly recognisable voice. It;s made us totally excited for the album;s release.

Directed by Michael Sherrington the clip, loaded with vintage video effects and quick cuts, that captures the introspective energy of the track perfectly.

Marnie’s Crystal World album is out next week.

You can pick up Crystal World here.

[Video] Ladytron’s ‘International Dateline’ (really!)

Yup, you read the headline right. It’s the video for Ladytron’s International Dateline, one of our favourite Ladytron tracks. Taken from 2005’s Witching Hour album (was it really so long ago?)

We’re not 100% sure on the story behind the clip, It was uploaded by Ladytron’s Daniel hunt (and confirmed on their official Facebook page) with the text “Shot in 2006. Previously unreleased.”. So there you go.

Ladytron’s Witching Hour is, well, out now.

Karin Park & Ladytron

Karin Park

Following last years ‘Tiger Dreams’ EP Karin Park has announced the release of her new album ‘Highwire Poetry’ next month, kicking things off with this lead-in, crazy good single ‘Restless’.

Her PR likes to call Karin ‘Electro-Goth’, really, take it from me, she’s not, not in the slightest, she is so far above that if she looked down she could barely see the tiny Electro-Goths running around like ants. What Karin actually is, is an incredible talented, interesting, unique ElectroPop artist who makes songs that are equally quirky, emotionally resonant and catchy. ‘Restless’ is one of those songs, a rousing, majestic slice of Icy Scandinavian analog Pop with an infections synth line and impassioned vocals. the single has been reMixes by Ladytron’s Reuben Wu, who apparently heard the track live and ran with it. Ruben delivers something surprisingly funky considering Ladytron’s recent work. recalling Ladytron of old, it’s a raw synth-fest that revels in Rubens electronic genius with layers and layers of sonic elements. Prefer the original though….

Ladytron’s new single

ladytron

‘Mirage’ is Ladytron new single and the second lead in track to their forthcoming new album, ‘Gravity The Seducer’.

Following ‘White Elephant’, ‘Mirage’ is slightly more upbeat and traditionally ‘Ladytron’, which is no bad thing. ‘Mirage’ is the Ladytron we all fell in love with. Solid Indie-ElectroPop with a rawness and intensity only Ladytron can capture. The new album is purported to be more ethereal and melodic than previous Ladytron work. Well, if it’s littered with tracks like ‘Mirage’ than I’ll be a happy man.

Ladytron’s new album, ‘Gravity The Seducer’ is released 12th September. You can pre-order signed copies of the LP or CD.
