She’s The Queen covers Jeff Buckley

She’s The Queen

I’m not really well versed in the ways of Jeff Buckley, I think it comes from being British and not really into Rock, She’s The Queen have tried to educate me but I’m just not having any of it. What I will have a little slice of, however, their cover of the man’s ‘Last Goodbye’.

It’s their tribute to his, apparently he’s dead. I don’t know about that, I’ll have to take their word for it. Wikipedia backs them up, but y’know, anyone can edit that. I’m sure there’s no conspiracy, I’m just saying it’s not my field of expertise. What I am sure of though, is that Drew and Emily can record the hell out of a song. Drew production is flawless, the sharpest, fullest Pop you’ll ever hear yet at all times subtle. As with the best producers his tracks are rich powerhouses that seem so effortless. Nothing hit you in the face, demanding your attention, everything works together as part of the whole. That’s called mixing! And Emily, well, there is not a more soulful voice recording ElectroPop right now that can even compare. As with Drew’s production, she makes it sound so effortless, every syllable conveying an emotional power that is so rare, even in talented singers. OK, so ‘reader’ you think I’m bias, because they are realising their new single on electronic rumors? You may be right, but that wouldn’t be happening if we didn’t believe in them 100%. Ask yourself which came first?, us writing about how great they were or us releasing their new record, and cast your accusing eyes to the floor.

Freak You reMixes Goldroom

goldroom

Drewamwave originator (literally) Goldroom and Australian vocalist Chella’s ‘Fifteen’ saw a stunning return to what Dreamwave was supposed to be about, nostalgic good times and emotional resonance with a good groove. the track has made quite a stir since it dropped early last month, so much so that Josh, under pressure from admirers, released the acapella to the public.

Luckily for us it was picked up by On The Fruit Records main man and all round top DiscoElectroPop producer Freak You. Freak You washed the track ain layers and layers of right tones and lush pads. So much so that the track is actually borderline Chillwave. More Chillwave with a proper Disco beat. The swirling masses of starlight arpeggios forming a wall of melody that weaves in and out of the reverb washed vocals to create something quite magical. Like a Disco dream, it’s all beats and soft-focus.

Jordan F’s ‘A New Day

jordan-f

Australian top -tier SynthWave producer Jordan F is back with another new track, ‘A New Day’. I kinda’ get the feeling that since his reversion back to the Jordan F moniker after a brief spell as Countach, that he’s working toward something, that these new tracks being deliver are taking us on a journey toward something special. Is it nearly album time maybe?

‘A New Day’ is a beautiful track that really captures the feeling embodied in it’s title. It’s a bright, optimistic tune, laying out, sonically, the promise of a fresh start and new horizons after a set-back. Jordan’s use of upbeat drums and sparkling layers of synths alongside a happy, bouncy bassline in this track are something you can’t help but smile at, even if you’re having a shitty day, and I think that;s the point of the track. But all that is beside the point once you hit Jordan’s epic soloing, pure synth shredding that will leave you slack-jawed and in awe as this rush of synthesizer music emotion washed over you. Also, in a real world situation, I’m just going to have this track hand on y mp3 player for the long cold walks home in the blinding morning light after all-night clubbing adventures.

Bunny Sigler reMixed by Nude Disco and Paul Harris

Bunny Sigler

Vern from London’s Nude Disco and Paul Harris from Dirty Vegas put together this remake of Bunny Sigler 1979 Disco classic ‘By The Way you Dance(I Knew It Was You)’ a couple of years ago, but in light of the recent warmer climate this year they have decided that now is the right time to unleash it on the public.

The original is a proper Disco anthem, all epic strings and squelchy Moog solos, so these two take the track in a different direction. Bringing a Deep, almost Acidic groove to the table. Keeping things relatively stripped down, they crate a hypnotic, funky, soundscape for the vocal line, with it’s clubbing narrative, to inject the melody into the track. Vern and Paul have delivered a track with that spot-on vibe to loose yourself in on the dancefloor.

All Night Shoes

All Night Shoes

All Night Shoes is a brand new artist from California whose released a few reMixes in the last six months. Unsurprisingly, ailing from California, All Night Shoes has gone down the Dreamwave/Nu-Disco. His new original track ‘Let U Go’ is awash with lush synths and cool vibes.

All Night Shoes sound is a little rough round the edges, the production need a little work, but he’s picked up the Dreamwave flavour nicely. ‘Let U Go’ show a lot of promise with it’s rolling bassline and big thick ‘80’s synths. It;s a driving track that captures enough of the LA beach vibe and mixes it some a harder elements to produce something quite unique. I think All Night Shoes needs to spend a bit of time working on the production, and on some his patch programming, but on the whole it’s a nice début and one which makes All Night Shoes a name we will be keeping an eye on.

Lissi Dancefloor Disaster & Le Prix

Lissi Dancefloor Disaster

We took a look at Swedish ElectroPoppers Lissi Dancefloor Disaster’s video for their new single, ‘Singing My Heart Out’ earlier in the week, so now is as good a time as any to get involved with the single and a stunning reMix from one of our faves, Le Prix.

If you checked the video you’ll already know what ‘Singing My Heart Out’ is all about. It’s a rich, beautiful ElectroPop track that gets it’s serious Disco groove on. Deep rushing synths and marching drums create something instantly recognisable as Scandinavian but with just the right amount of groove in there too. It’s a rousing and involving slick of alternative SacndiPop. the main reMix, alongside a Glichty Lo-Fi version from Den Svenska Björnstammen), comes from Le Prix, who provides a laid back synthy track chock full of Le Prix’s trademark SynthWave atmospherics that compliments the impassioned vocals really well. Lissi have been around for while, but we think this is their best work to date, and hopefully the single that gains them some of the attention the so readily deserve.
