[Audio] Little Boots’ ‘Better In The Morning’

In a post-Business Pleasure world we are eagerly awaiting the release of the queen of ElectroPop, Little Boots,’s third album. It’s titled Working Girl and set to be released in July, and in advance of that, we can have our first taste in the form of the pre-release single which was unleashed this week. The single is called Better In The Morning, a track that she’s been teasing for the past few days and is now available for your listening pleasure in all it’s glory.

Better In The Morning is a continuation of the evolution of Little Boots sound. As hinted at on the Business Pleasure EP, the new material seems to be less Deep House influenced and taking a Alt-Pop slant. It’s got itself a quirky DiscoPop groove, which more of a Raw feel that her very early DiscoPop track. This feels like the DIY Pop we’ve always though of her as. It’s Pop with no rules. Woody bassline and a solid beat propel the track, which is leaden with robotic sound effects and synth scratches while Boot’s enigmatic nursery rhyme vocals feel pleasingly biting and tongue-in-cheek. It’s a track that you just have to bob your head to, there’s no preventing that. We’re dead excited for the album.

[Download] Du Tonc reMix Pixies ‘Monkey Gone To Heaven’

After premièring it on their recent Music To Show Aliens When They Land On Earth mixtape, Du Tonc (the globe trotting team-up of Matt Van Schie and MiGHty mOUse) have unleashed their the surprise tune from that mix. A reMix of Pixies late 80s/early 90s Indie club staple; Monkey Gone To Heaven. As a prelude to their forthcoming new single, released later this month, this reMix is bound to keep you going for a while.

Effortlessly blending a bit of Indie nostalgia (if you like that sort of thing) with their magical Tropical Disco sound, Du Tonc strip down most of the original, keeping a few grooves and vocal snatches, but manage to hold onto Monkeys Gone To Heaven‘s feel with Matt Van Schie’s trademark Disco dream basslines and the waves of lush synths and wicked little licks we expect from these two. It’s a track the you can’t help but smile about, particularly if you’re familiar with the original. Summer goodness right here.

[Audio] Nocturnal Sunshine’s ‘Believe’

Here we have our second teaser of what to expect from the forthcoming début album from Maya Jane Coles dubby alter-ego; Nocturnal Sunshine. Single number tow is called Believe and features vocal work from Chelou, who is described as an ‘elusive newcomer’. The album, self-titled, is due out toward the end of this month.

Believe is more of the ominous fantasy Dub we’ve come to expect from Maya’s Nocturnal Sunshine work. Bass heavy and loaded with heavy tones, the track draws you into it’s Stygian depths with undulating rhythms and a pairing of Maya’s trademark haunting snyths with a lead line that cuts through the mix. Chelou’s vocals drift across the track like smoke; husky, brooding and softly spoken, which fits the mood of the track perfectly. We’re quite looking forward to the long player here.

[Audio] Johan Agebjörn and Mikael Ögren reMix Tommy ’86’s ‘Aurora’

One of our favourite French producers, SynthWave genius Tommy ‘86, is set to drop his new EP this week. It’s called Aurora, a track that he débuted a while ago but is now getting a proper release with a couple of reMixes to boot. One of those reMixes comes from our Scandinavian friend Johan Agebjörn. He’s partnered with Mikael Ögren for the reMix, which we can première for you right here.

These two get their serious synth on right here. A mystical synth excursion for fans of Jean Michelle-Jarre, this reMix is a mid-tempo piece that envelopes you in it’s electronic magic as it pours out of the speaks. Using reverb heavy drums and sparkling arpeggios to craft an enigmatic mood, thee guys build up an exotic atmosphere before launching into some of the most captivating synth solos you’ll have heard in a while. Sit back and sink into this evocative and intoxicating track. It’s even got a little Sally Shapiro vocal sampling going on.

[Audio] Colleagues’ ‘Talk It Out’

We’re a week or so away from the release of Swedish ElectroPop outfit Colleagues forthcoming EP; Visits. We’ve already had a gander at a couple of the tracks from the release; Tears back in march followed by Somewhere early last month. Both of which have been floating our boat. Now, in the final furlong before their début release, we can take a listen to another glorious slice of chill Pop from Visits; Talk It Out.

Were treated to more of the same dreamy SynthPop with this one. A euphoric track, Talk It Out comes filled to the brim with lush synths and energetic beats. Another heartfelt and passionate vocal performance flow over a tumbling and kinetic synthesizer symphony, resulting in a massively anthemic powerhouse. A future live favourite.

In a true Bristolian meeting of minds Progressive pioneer and Way Out Wester Jody Wisternoff has enlisted the help of Sian Evans, from the amazing Kosheen, for his new single. Out this week on Anjunadeep, it’s titled The Bridge; his first single in 2015. As you’d expect from Wisternoff it’s classic and timeless Dance music that’s fit for summer revelry.

The Bridge is a rock solid Balearic slice of chilled jubilation. Adding a modern twist to a truly pioneering sound, Jody serves up something that will appeal to both fans of his, and Way Out West’s historic releases and contemporary dancefloor groovers. Sian Evans instantly recognisable vocals take on an ethereal tone, adding an air of enigma to the tune as Wisternoff builds the tune to it’s euphoric finale.

[Audio] Curxes’ ‘What You Want’

The time is almost upon us for the long awaited release of the début long player from our favourite Brightonian/Portsmouthoinian(?) noiseniks Curxes. Their glorious music lies at the nexus point between ElectroPop, Industrial, Post-Punk and Dance music. Their songs symphonies that manage to be at once abrasive and catchy, unsettling and dancefloor friendly. They have also expanded from a duo to a trio with the inclusion of drummer Camille joining Roberta and Macaulay. Their album, titled Verxes, is out this week, and you can check out the track What You Want right now.

Kicking off with hammerfall machine beats, What You Want soon warms you up with Teutonic synth bass and distorted kicks underpinning a beautiful cacophony of rich pads and an unexpectedly euphoric dancefloor friendly hook. Roberta belts out a truly rapturous performance, bring both the post-punk growl and the epic screaming into play. As our latest taste of the album What You Want bodes particularly well. We’re looking forward to getting our hands on this one.
