[Audio] Goldroom’ ”Till Sunrise’

goldroom

You’d have to have been living under a rock the past couple of weeks, or maybe you just don;t write for a music blog, not to have been hammered with ‘preMixes’ if the new single from the producer of the mist blissful music in the world, Goldroom. It was actually a very interesting concept, release the stems for reMixing before anyone has heard the original and let creativity ensue, but as much as we love Josh we just hid under the aforementioned rock until the man himself dropped the original version of the track. which is now; so “hello world””

‘Till Sunrise features Australian electronic producer Mammals and was well worth the wait. I know we quite often refer to stuff as soundtracking the summer; but in real life as soon as the sun starts to shine we reach for some Goldroom tunes, and ‘Till Sunrise will be pushing it’s way toward the top of that pile. A slo-mo Disco dream that swirls hazy snyths, Topical purcussion, and the most warm and inviting of back beats, around your head as Mammals misty vocal rolls over the tune. Too chilled for Disco, to Disco for Chillwave, ‘Till Sunrise hits the sweet spot between the two. Dreamwave was always supposed to sound like this.

Stop the press. There’s a new tune from the newly solo and still pluralised Final DJs. This time Final DJs has enlisted the help of SynthWave scene staple Dana Jean Phoenix on vocal duties, and the Canadian songstress adds that little bit of nostalgic flair to an otherwise Housey tune. Check out We Are The Night Below.

Crisp and clean, We Are The Night wears it’s Nu-Disco and French Touch roots on it’s sleeve. Warm basslines and heavy filtering underpin proceedings, creating a groaning core of some lush synth stabs and chirping leads. Dana’s vocal glides over the track like silk, tying everything together nicely and giving the track the human touch. Excellent summer evening listening.

[Audio] Clancy reMixes Yousef & The Angel’s ‘Float Away’

yousef

Last week we brought you Grum’s Yousef & The Angel’s Float Away, part of a brand new reMix package for the track. Now we can share with you the other exciting mix on the release; a version of the tune from Clancy. Clancy has a EP out soon on Anjunadeep and we couldn’t be happier for him, that’s an awesome label and a good fit. This reMix just has us eagerly awaiting for the EP to drop.

In contrast to Grum euphoric endeavour, Clancy gives something a little more cerebral. A deep and funky House track with an ecclectic array of synth instrumentation. The track draws you in with a bright and sparking into before grabbing hold of you with a bassline that is part speaker shaking sub, part 80s SynthPop groover; a devastating combination. With a futuristic, and quite epic, feel, Clancy’s reMix of Float Away really will take you away, all the while rooting your feet in the dancefloor.

Yousef

Yousef & The Angel’s Float Away was originally released back in September last year, closely followed by a bunch of reMixes. This reMix was not one of them, but have no fear, the single is getting another release that this time will, thankfully, include this monster reworking of the track by ER fave Grum. The new release is out this week and also features a reMix from the mighty Clancy.

Grum gets razor sharp with this reMix of Float Away. Punchy bass and piercing synths dominate the track, which seems a little bit like a nexus point between his Dreamwave past and his Progressive House present. There’s a definite retro flair to the tune, but in that really clean and euphoric way the Grum always did, and the beats and bass are so tight and crisply produced. All this production clarity doesn’t for one minute loose the groove though, as Grum pairs The Angel’s ethereal vocal with an infectious bass heavy vibe.

[Download] Ben Macklin’s ‘Let You Down’

ben-macklin

Oh hello. It’s the new solo tune from Cassette Club’s Ben Macklin. Mere weeks after his last single, It’s Over was released the man is back to treat us to five minutes of blissful chilled House to sort out the weekend. If, of course, your weekend starts tomorrow; which ours does this week! Haha, in your face everyone who’s weekend doesn’t start tomorrow this week!

A smooth-as-hell mixture of House beats and dreamy-Dreamwave tones, Let You Down is ‘summer jam’ exemplified. Picking up a Tropical vibe along the way, Let You Down lays it’s beats thick but it’s synths airy , crating a groove you can dance to but is a little something for the mind too. Add a sprinkling of nostalgia (there’s a slight Jan Hammer thing going on here), and you’ve got a tune that’s prefect for chilling by the pool, at the weekend, which (as previously mentioned) starts tomorrow for us (ahahahahaha).

[Audio] Tesla Boy’s ‘Strong’

Tesla Boy

It seems like only yesterday that ElectroPop heroes Tesla Boy’s amazing second album The Universe Made Of Darkness came in at number three in our favourite albums of 2013. Now the Russian outfit are looking to launch a new chapter in their history with their brand new single, Strong, out this week. Settle in for some retro Pop goodness.

This is archetypal Tesla Boy, but with a little less Funk and a little more Power Pop than before. Strong still works in all the vintage synths, classic production and Anton’s nostalgic croon are all present and correct; but this feels like a more sophisticated Tesla Boy, more mature in it’s approach to songwriting. Having already tackled 80s SynthPop, then 80s Disco, it’s now time for Tesla Boy to grab the Tears For Fears end of the 80s and make it their own, and they do so with style.

[Audio] Lenno reMixes Chromeo’s ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’

chromeo

This, we imagine, is the last of our posts about Canadian funksters Chromeo’s Jealous (I Ain’t With It). Once the stems to a song like this are released into the world, everyone and their dog grabs those coat-tails. We already featured Ride The Universe’s amazing reMix of the tune, a slick laid back Disco stormer. At the other end of the spectrum sit our favourite Finn, Lenno, who takes the track straight to the big room. We’re not expecting anyone to do any better than these two, so case closed.

Taken from their new album White Women, Jealous (I Ain’t With It) was Chromeo’s first single from the album, but weirdly probably the album’s least-strong track. That is, before the likes of Lenno got their hands on it. As we’d expect from Lenno, he makes things truly massive with layers of hugs synths, perfectly produced, Building and building over a Boogie-esque bassline that gives the track a little Disco undertone, Lenno would have the dancefloor in the palm of his hand with this one. Dave 1’s vocals are just the icing on the cake here. We’ve got this on on repeat.
