[Audio] New tune from Daze

Daze

French Electro Disco producer Daze is gearing up for the release of his latest EP, to be titled Solar, which is apparently in progress. In the meantime he has dropped this previously unreleased tune to tide us over and it;s got us really looking forward to the EP.

Thinking About You is French Disco done right. Funky as all hell and build from massive sounds. A sweet vocoded vocal hook give the track structure in a track that harkens back to Daze’s Foundations EP. It’s the arrangement here that really shines though, wich drops and builds in just the right places and innovative fills to transition between the two. A definite floorfiller, roll on the EP.

[MP3] Computer Magic

Computer Magic

One of out favourite artists hailing from Brooklyn (and that is no mean feat, we’re pretty sure that when you move to Brooklyn you get given a complimentary analog synth) is Computer Magic. We’ve written about Danielle Johnson’s music a fair bit over the past couple of years, but thinks have been pretty quite since last summer. No fear though, she’s back with a brand new single, A Million Years, due out in march and it’s everything we’ve been missing.

Mixing up a hazy Indie-Electro vibe with a solid Disco groove, A Million Years, pumps along to a hypnotic Moog bassline and spacious, atmospheric, buzzing synths, wrapping the listener in a blanket if electronic comfort while Danielle’s quirky lament sounds a lot more cheerful than the songs subject matter would suggest. If you like interesting, quite introspective, Indie-ElectroPop you’ve come to the right place.

[Audio] MNDR reMixed by Robotaki

MNDR

Oh, go on then, we’ll have one more reMix of MNDR’s Feed Me Diamonds. Partly because we’re big MNDR fans, partly because we’re also pretty fond on Canadian groover Robotaki. But mostly because Robotaki has done a sterling job here, the best Disco version we’ve heard.

Robotaki has got a perfect grasp of Amanda’s vocals, and the rhythm of the song, as he completely retextualises her voice but allows it to keep it’s own intention. The vocals become a big sweeping Disco top line when presented with Robotaki’s 70’s synth disco. Expect loads of rapid percussion on ringing bells. The best way to describe it is to quote Robotaki: “Totally watched an old kung-fu flicks while this was being made.” There you go.

[MP3] Lifelike & Kris Menace reMixed by Quinten 909

Lifelike & Kris Menace

It’s been a while since we had a new tune from Dutch Disco don Quinten 909, but here he is, to start you week boogieing, with a Funktastic reMix of  Lifelike & Kris Menace‘s, now classic, Discopolis.

Squelching up that instantly recognisable bassline and giving the beat a little disco shuffle, give the tune a lighter, groovier feeling, as opposed to the dancefloor stomp of the original. Full of nice filter sweeps and popping rhythms, Quinten 909 does a nice job of turning a big room monster into a laid back, pool party, jam. Get ready for some tasty bass.

[MP3] p e a c e Fire’s return

p e a c e Fire

Remember p e a c e FIRE? They were a blog staple a few years back, dropping some seriously awesome reMixes culminating in the awesome Sapphire Rainbow EP. He’s been a bit quiet recently, letting loose the occasional track here and there but generally keeping a low profile. Well, that’s all about to change, as Keenhouse’s Sunlinxx Records are gearing up to release p e a c e FIRE’s massive new single, which you can grab your exclusive first listen to right here.

Death By English is the name of the new single, and fans of really electronic Disco should rejoice. The Tokyo resident has pulled out all the stops on this new single. Revolving around an insanely catchy synth riff Death By English is bright like starlight. Everything about it sound crisp, and although highly robotic, the track has so much soul. Layers of punchy synth bass, piercing leads, and an intense analog groove. Death By English is an intricately crafted track that never looses sight of either musicality or the dancefloor. What more could you ask for? A very welcome return. The exciting news is p e a c e FIRE is currently holed-up in his studio working on a full length record, to be released later in the year. While you’re here, check out p e a c e FIRE’s crazy good reMix of Swiss Trance artist  Tatana’s,  Ingrid Lukas featuring, No Lie. Available to download below, the track is a slo-mo Sci-Fi Disco oddessy with a Dubby beat, loaded with analog synth melodies and sweeping soundscapes. It’s what music sounds like in the future. It sounds like it’s going to be a good year for p e a c e FIRE.

Add to this a wash of bright snyths and wicked Disco licks and you have another killer tune from Jupiter, who are on such a roll these last twelve months we can’t help but wonder if they can really so no wrong?

[MP3] Cut Slack reworks Midnight Star

Midnight Star

Here’s Portuguese outfit Cut Slack with a brand new track. This time it’s ‘80s electro Soul outfit Midnight Star that gets Cut Slack’s attention with their reworking of their 1986 classic Midas Touch.

Rather than a reMix, this track is a masterclass in how Edits should be done. Cut Slack have completely stripped back the vocals, leaving only a faint, processed, trace of the song to haunt the beats. then by highlighting the tunes dancefloor qualities, Cut Slack turn the track into the prefect Synth Disco groove. This track is full of the best in nostalgic electronic Disco. Big stabs, twisting synth riffs, a boogie down beat and load of head nodding attitude. One of the middle of the dancefloor.
