[Audio] Ronika’s ‘Wiyoo’ reMixed by Jupiter

ronika

Our relationship with her tune Wiyoo is almost as long our relationship with Ronika herself. Her second single; the track also appeared on electronic rumors volume 1, and then reMixed by Substatic on the cunningly titled electronic rumors Volume 1: The reMix EP, so you could say Wiyoo has been pretty influential in our journey from blog to label. Ass has been shaken to it on more than one occasion too.

In advance of the long awaited release of Ron’s début album, Selectadisc (review coming soon, possibly the most personal thing we’ve ever written), here come this brand new reMix of Wiyoo from French DiscoPop dynamic duo Jupiter. The Parisians drop the tempo slightly and deliver slab loads of thick synth funk with a playful, cheesy, Pop heart. Ron’s vocals glide over a bed of springy deep bass, airy analog stabs and an earworm of a lead hook. Mixing up French Disco with a little LA Funk vibe, Jupiter serve up a completely different take on the track.

[Video] Goldroom’s ‘Embrace’

Goldroom Embrace Official Video YouTube

Embrace is one of Dreamwave salty sea dog Goldroom’s finest moments. The Ariela Jacobs vocalised tune is pure summertime bliss, so the presence of a video for the track is like the icing on the cake.

In typical Goldroom fashion, the clip is all hazy nostalgia. Directed by Carlos Nunez, it’s like a sunbeam on video.

Goldroom’s Embrace is out now.

[Audio] Ben Macklin’s ‘It’s Over’

Ben Macklin

Out today is the new single from Mr. Ben Macklin. Hot on the heels of his other outfit Cassette Club’s new tune, Collide, comes It’s Over. This new tune shows of Macklin’s smoother, more soulful side. Helped out in no small measure by the silky the vocals of Emma Brammer,

There’s something about It’s Over that reminds us of the classic Dance tracks of our youth. The smokey UK Soul vocals have a particularly very-early 90s vibe to them and Macklin’s piano led Nu-Disco certainly has a nostalgic flow that sweeps you away with it. Perfect lazy sunshine listening. Tommy ‘86 (yup, Tommy has assed an ‘’86’ to his moniker) amps up his cinematic Italo in a reMix that at first glance seems like a strange match, but soon warms you up with a lush 80s groove that finds it’s place with Brammer’s voice. A couple of classy tunes from these guys, and a great start tot he week.

The release of Röyksopp & Robyn’s eagerly awaited collaborative mini-album, Do It Again, is not to far off now. We weren’t expecting any videos, but one has been unleashed. This is for the moody and hypnotic Sayit.

Directed by Sandberg & Timonen and Kacper Kasprzyk, the monochrome stark glitchyness rolls with the track well.

Röyksopp & Robyn’s Do It Again is out 26th May.

[Download] Pat Lok reMixes Adina Howard’s ‘Freak Like Me’

Adina Howard

OK, hold tight, ‘cos this one is huge. The Torontonian dude Pat Lok is back and he’s got something to celebrate. The man has just hit a million, yes a million, plays on his SoundCloud account and is marking the occasion by giving away this frankly immense reMix of Adina Howard’s 1995 hit Freak Like Me. We sincerely hope your listening to this jam on a system with decent bass.

Spending it;s first few moments easily blending from a 90s R&B groove into a House monster the effortlessly juggles an early Chicago vibe with cutting edge Bass House power. And that’s not mentioning the shuffling Garage shit going on throughout. This is just a killer tune that needs to be played in clubs right now, like right this second. Turn the bass up, turn the volume up, hit play. You won’t regret it.

[Audio] Goldroom reMixes Wunder Wunder’s ‘Coastline’

Wunder Wunder

Prolific just doesn’t begin to describe the hardest working man in ‘inventing Dreamwave’. Goldroom is back again with another seven minutes of bliss. This time it’s in the form of this storming reMix for Los Angeles based outfit Wunder Wunder and their new single Coastline. It’s another one just in time for the better weather we’re having in the UK, we’re going to save this one for the weekend.

I once heard Josh say he wasn’t keen on the term ‘Tropical’, but c’mon, this tune is just some kind of Island dream. The man loves his seafaring, and this comes through in every inch of this tune, this is one for the open water, or the beach at sunset. The steel drums, the seashell purcussion, the woozy bass…I can feel the sand under my toes already. No-one makes as evocative music as Goldroom right now, he manages to turn in total floorfillers whist painting a musical picture at the same time. Dance and dream.

Keeping The Faith is the new single from Russell Dean Stone. A Dreamtrak produced Depeche Mode-with-a-hint-of-Alphaville-a-like of epic proportions.

Toxo

Italian label Body Heat have just put out a rather tasty three track EP for free. Positioned as a sampler for their upcoming artists the release features tracks from Rocoe & Umberto Lumber, Msystem, The Couch Potatoes, and this beat from Rome based DJ Toxo. It’s called Need Your Love

Set apart from the more sample based offerings found elsewhere on the EP, Toxo’s tune meshes a vintage Disco hook with some almighty chainsaw synths. Knocking out a heavy TurboFunk groove, Need Your Love blends droning synths, squelchy riffs with infectious filtered Disco in an organized chaotic way until you end up with one of those peak time track you can’t help but go mental too.
