Meridian reMix Dirty South & Thomas Gold

Dirty South & Thomas Gold

Meridian is back with a new reMix of Dirty South & Thomas Gold (Feat. Kate Elsworth)’s ‘Alive’.

The 22 year old Belgian producer turns in a massive big room mix of the track led by lush pads and piano that sits just right in the mix. With an undercurrent Balearic flowing beneath the big Disco sound the track takes on a peak time summer vibe. No doubt this bodes well for Meridian’s forthcoming single release.

Kids On Bridges’ ‘Check Your Head’

kids on bridges

February sees the release of, North West of England based, Kids On Bridges’ new double A-side single ‘This Is Widescreen’/’Check Your Head’.

The first track ‘This Is Widescreen’, is a little bland and uninspired. The flip side, however, ‘Check Your Head’ is awesome! A bombastic chunk of filtered DiscoPop that draws from everything from Indie-Electro to French Touch and really works those Disco strings to their fullest effect. Part Electro-Rock part Nu-Disco, it’s a heady combination that also has a raw, live, anthemic quality to it. Hopefully the guys will push themselves with this side of the single.

80s Stallone’s ‘Beach’ EP

80s Stallone

Released next month on Silhouette Music is the new EP from SynthWave maestro 80s Stallone.

The ‘Beach’ EP’s title track is a thing of pure joy. Waves of nostalgia wash forth from vintage synth sounds creating this feel good, slightly Italo, vibe. I don’t know whether it’s the bouncy mid-‘80’s bassline or the SynthPop melodies, but there’s just something about this track that captures everything we love about retro synthesizer music, and put a smile on our faces while it does it. We covered the Jan Hammer-esque flipside a few months ago Cliffhanger and love it even more now. the rest of the EP is filled with some awesome reMix work from L’Equipe Du Son, who turn the title track into a night drive pulsar with a slight Psy Trance feel in the burbling riffs, and and some really smooth, laid back, electronic Disco from The Legendary 1979 Orchestra.

DiscoSocks’ new single

discosocks

London based bass player turned Disco demon DiscoSocks released a new double A-side single today.

From the moment ‘Voodoo’ kicks in you seriously get hat this guy is experienced with bass. Both the slap playing and the synth lines are amazing. Funky and complex lines intertwine around each other to create a wall of dancefloor destroying synthesizer Disco. the flip side, ‘Boogie Hour’ is just as meticulously crafted and brings more of a banging Electro-House vibe to DiscoSocks Nu-Disco. Both tracks are top quality productions prime to be dropped at peak time.

Storm Queen + Aeroplane & Dimitri From Paris

morgangeist

Storm Queen is the alter ego of one of the New York House scene’s biggest names, Morgan Geist. His track, ‘Look Right Through’ has been out a while but next month it gets a brand new reMix package featuring some storming tracks.

Aeroplane drop the standout mix of the EP with a synth heavy Disco sound, the filtered arpeggio bassline has got this irresistible little Funk to it, it’s definitely a riff that will stick in your head all day. Areoplane manages to add his own brand if electro Disco in the mix but retains the deep ‘90’s House vibe of the original and works the rich, soulful vocals to their fullest. Dimitri From Paris brings the late ‘80’s Chicago House back around and cranks it up to 11 with some huge piano lines. it’s a track that demands a video shot a night with cheap video effects!

Vanguard’s ‘Calling U’

Vanguard

Short, but incredibly sweet, that’s what Welsh Nu-Disco duo VanGuard’s new track is.

So smooth, so retro, with such a powerful sound. The track is only two and a half minutes long but it crams an epic flow into such a short time. With a heavy rhythm section that powers the track along and is followed closely by those big retro chords, ‘Calling U’ is more Dreamwavey and less Nu-Disco than their usual tracks, more like their reMixes.  This is real ‘80’s movie soundtrack/Disco hybrid stuff. Simple, but very effective.

Ruben & Ra reMix Fil Lavin

Fil Lavin

Montenegro based producer Fil Lavin is the latest edition to Ruben & Ra’s Retrospective stable.

February sees the release of ‘Soul Brother’ his first release, a deep ‘90’s House jam that’s backed with a reMix by Ruben & Ra themselves. Their ‘Souled Out Dub’ is a deep late night groove with a rolling synth bassline and some big lush filtered chords that are just a pleasure to listen to. Keeping the ‘90’s House vibe but bring it to a smoother place R&R have droped a fresh track with a classic feel.
