Chromeo reMixed by Sonic Soul

To say the world was inundated with reMixes of Chromeo’s ‘Hot Mess’ right now would be an understatement, so standing out it quite a job!

Sonic Soul are up for that challenge. Their reMix of ‘Hot Mess’ has more Funk than a dump truck full of Funk driving up to Bootsy Collins house and dumped in his driveway. The duo of Andrew Napoleon and Leon Watson from the North East UK put the whole package into their reMix, a nice build, some awesome layered 80’s synth Funk with some real smooth riffs and our beloved electro toms, all of this working seamlessly with Dave 1’s vocals. They’ve added a sweet call-and-response vocoded finale too.

Fabian’s ‘Puzzle’ (+ some LexiconDon)

Right about now we’re going to kick off your weekend with this new bomb from our boy Fabian.

‘Puzzle’ is actually pretty old, being Fabian’s first track under that name, but has recently come to light as the soundtrack to this GoPro video of Jamie Pierre ski cliff jumping.

Old or new, we’re glad it’s getting an airing, it’s a full-on Electro juggernaut. If this doesn’t get you going for a weekends debauchery, then I don’t know what will!

Fabian – Puzzle

Maybe this? Fabian and crew as LexiconDon reMixing Seattle’s Mad Rad into a Dubstep Rock psychopath!

James Varnish (+ Lifelike & Murder One)

James Varnish is a newcomer to this thing we call ElectroPop. the Australian has just released his first single, ‘Compare’.

It’s a strong début, a little rough round the edges but shows a lot of promise. It’s sometimes hard to tell with premier singles, especially full of reMixes, but when Mr. Varnish finds his own voice, his own sound, he could defiantly be a player in the Electro game. He’s got quite a 90’s vocal style with a nice 80’s flair to the music, produced by fellow Melbourne resident Murder One, that combines to form a classic SynthPop sound. All-in-all is a pretty powerful first offering. Even more so is the reMix by Lifelike which is fairly low-down-dirty for a Lifelike reMix with a grungy groove and cut-up vocals.

The Swiss reMix Tyson

The Swiss are back!

The Aussie Disco outfit have put their not-inconsiderable skills to good use in reMixing UK mystery man Tyson’s new tune, ‘Out Of My Mind’. ‘Out Of My Mind’ is, in it’s various forms, doing the rounds a lot right now but this reMix tops the lot. shuffling Disco drums, a rolling arpeggiated bassline, power retro stabs and shimmering lead lines, what more do you need on the dancefloor? Tyson’s haunted vocal delivery just adds another layer to the mix. Six minutes of pure groove.

Blende’s ‘One Sided’

Stockholm based duo Blende are dropping a new double A-Side single this week on La Bombe Records.

‘One Sided’ is a track that straddles the thin line between modern ElectroPop and Nu-Disco. It’s an arpeggio driven dancefloor tune with hints of Moroder and a surprisingly laidback groove for such an upbeat song. Top that with some silky smooth Vocoded vocals and you have a jam that sounds as fresh as it does retro. It’s double A-side ‘Egypto’ is a rad old-school Electro workout that bridges the gap between B-Boys and the Disco!

♫ Blende – One Sided

The  track ‘One Sided’ get versioned by the awesome Louis La Roche, who brings his slick Electro-Disco style to the tune and gives it added dancefloor appeal. It’s French Touch feel seamlessly incorporates itself into the vocoder work.
