Tareq’s new reMix EP

tareq1

The Greek kind of SynthPop Tareq is closing the door on the fist chapter of his career, his excellent début album, Cocoon and it’s singles, by releasing a free compilation of reMixes of the track Mosquito. The EP hold six tracks, reMixes of Mosquito from Marsheaux, Rolla Scape, 5tarcrush and SaikaL alongside a new track, Waiting For The Rain and an acoustic version of Reign Of Hearts.

The EP’s standouts are the reMixes of Mosquito from Marsheaux and 5tarcrush. Marsheaux, one of our favourite SynthPop girl duos, brings an classic SynthPop feel to the track. Their majestic Depeche Mode-esque sound lending gravitas to the track. Pounding machine beats and rich synth chords rise and fall as Tareq’s emotional lament stands accompanied by some Marsheaux backing vocal work. 5tarcrush takes a slightly more dancefloor oriented approach, layering think the arpeggios and buzzsaw synths, there’s even a little House piano in there too! Tareq is currently working on his new album, titled Fish.

MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ drops today

mighty mouse

Today sees the release of MiGHty mOUse’s awesome summer sure-to-be-a-hit single, ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’.

I’m not going to go on too much about the track, we have already raved about it, and the Edwin Van Cleef mix enough already, suffice to say it’s a catchy, funky slice of vocal DiscoPop that is sure to blow up over summer. Now the single is out you can listen to the whole reMix package on SoundCloud. Although I don’t think any of them top the original, followed by the EvC mix, there are some choice cuts on the single. Firstly MiGHty mOUse’s own ‘Funkatronic Restoration’ is an electric piano lead funker with some organ and a large horn section that mixes up their electronic Disco with a Motown flavour. Mario Basanov takes the track in a deep, bass heavy direction with his Proggy reMix and Greek SynthPop artist Tareq turns in a classic Synth track with a nice groove to it that uses the vocals to epic effect. The whole collection is pretty top quality and comes highly recommended.

Tareq reMixed by MiGHty mOUse

It’s been a while since we featured Greek ElectroPopster Tareq, the man is back with a new single on Undo, a duet with Natassa Bofiliou called ‘Feel Me’

The track has had funking over by the almighty MiGHty mOUse, who layer on their trademark organic Nu-Disco. Raw and live grooves make the track float along and provide the prefect 70’s Moog funk backdrop for the track.

Tareq

Greek ElectroPop artist Tareq recently dropped his début album, ‘Cocoon’, on Undo Records (home to Marsheaux) and is about to unleash his premier single from the album, ‘Cold’.

Tareq brings a little Vocal House flavour to the Modern SynthPop scene. As well as mixing in his retro influences he’s not adverse to adding some Disco bass or House pads into the traditional Modern SynthPop sound. While musically ‘Cold’ lives up to it’s name with layers of icy synths, the presence of a  slap bass groove and Tareq’s emotive vocals warms things up a bit. The reMix package is quite impressive, the standout being d-tek’s Italo mix which is just begging for Club play as it mixes up an Italo bassline with layers of Nu-Disco synths.

If you want to check out how the Modern SynthPop scene is evolving the Tareq’s ‘Cold’ is recommended.
