[MP3] Black Magic Disco edits Joey Musaphia’s ‘I Miss You’

joey_musaphia

UK ex-pat and all round slick producer of House and Disco, Black Magic Disco, has put together this little re-edit of House and Garage legend Joey Musaphia’s I Miss You. Originally taken from his now sought after Cover Ups Vol. 1 EP and itself a radical reworking of Hard Drive’s Deep Inside, the track is a club classic and BMD brings it right to 2013’s dancefloors.

This track is summer nights incarnate (although not really as music doesn’t have form, but you get the gist). Six minutes of shuffling Garage beats and warm synths gliding along like there was nothing smoother in this world. Snippets of vocal are played around with, big sweeps are indulged in and the crowd are left in a state of hypnotic euphoria. Download and add to your crate.

[MP3] Fear Of Tigers’ ‘Dream Of Love’

Fear Of Tigers

There’s definitely something going on at Fear Of Tigers HQ. We know the man has been busy producing certain new Girl Bands, but there just far too many new FoT tracks making an appearance to be coincidental. With his second album (possibly still called Hypnerotomachia Poliphiliout) almost complete we’re guessing the lead up to it’s release starts here.

Right here with Dream Of Love a new free track (limited to 1,000 downloads, so get in quick). And what a track, this is the kind of Fear Of Tigers that gets us really excited. Those big 80s beats, that dancefloor sensibility, these are the traits of a guy who knows his way around Pop as much as laser-soaked big rooms. Dream Of Love is an emotive, uplifting slice of synthesizer love that’s seeped in euphoria and nostalgia, and just in time for summer. Let these layers of lush synths, soaring solos and popping basslines see you through the sunshine.

[MP3] Holy Ghost!’s ‘Teenagers In Heat’

holyghost

Frankly, the best Indie-DiscoPop band on the planet is New York’s Holy Ghost!. We say ‘Indie-DiscoPop’ as the duo perfectly balances the New York, DFA, Disco sound and an Indie tinged ElectroPop style to create something that is, at the same time, raw, funky and Poppy. We can’t think of anyone else doing the same, so well, right now. Hot on the heels of May eight minute epic, Dumb Disco Ideas, comes Teenagers In Heat.

Clocking in at a more Pop friendly 3m57s, Teenagers In Heat is a joyous and campy dramatic, analog ElectroPop beast that was produced by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy. A raucous and energetic symphony of buzzing synths, shuffling beats and a deliciously 80s post-punk vocal that has us itching to hear the duo’s second album, Dynamics, due out in September.

[MP3] Douze reMixes V V Brown

VV Brown

Here’s a new slice of synthesizer richness from Parisian producer Douze. When Douze last graced these pages he was releasing his Eternity’s Call Back EP on Discotexas and since has drops tracks on Work It Baby, Animal Language and Compuphonic (alongside frequent collaborator Kris Menace). Today, though, we are presenting the première of Douze’s lush reworking of the forthcoming new single from London based Indie-Pop singer-songwriter and hype magnet V V Brown, Samson.

V V Browns original in a majestic and undulating five minutes of tribal tension, and while Douze retains much of the track’s drama he, thankfully, breaks the dread and injects the track with a healthy dose of French Disco. With a vintage sheen, Douze mashes together squelchy basslines and starlight melodies, that after a moody intro, completely reform the track. V V’s biblical lament is transformed into a slinky croon by the power of a funky bassline and the whole song take on a newfound swagger. This is Douze at the top of the Disco game once more.

VV Brown’s Samson is released 14th July on YOY Records.

[MP3] Reflex’s ‘Together’ reMixes (with Punks Jump Up, Oxford and Tempogeist)

Reflex

Our favourite French duo (which is quite a sweeping statement, ‘cos, y’know, Daft Punk) Reflex are back, mere weeks after the release of their new single, Together, with a swanky reMix collection to fill your ears with. Together is currently out on Jerry Bouthier’s Continental Records with the reMix collection coming next week. The line up for the package includes the like of Colour Vision and Tronik Youth, alongside Punks Jump Up, Oxford and Tempogeist.

Punks Jump Up’s take on the track is full-on jackin’ House. This one’s all thumping 909 beats, thick basslines and an utterly compelling piano hook. Ripe to get the dancefloor whipped into a frenzy in some dark, strobe lit, club, Punks Jump Up’s reMix is just a pure House juggernaut. Oxford, on the other hand, turns-in a typically smooth Disco reMix, all rolling basslines and vintage stabs. A lush slice of laid back synth Funk, Oxford’s version injects the release with a little poolside cool. Playing out the EP with some shuffling retro Funk is Tempogeist, who’s massive reMix combines synthetic Nu-Disco with slick vintage Pop sheen, delivering a version of Together with a feel of a 80s extended 12” reMix, this one;s a free download too. It’s a storming reMix package and a nice compliment to the original single, easily worth your attention.

[MP3] Ronika’s ‘Search Siren’

Ronika

Just in time for your weekend, here’s the new tune from the UK’s reigning DiscoPop queen Ronika. While we’re all still eagerly awaiting her début album, there release of which is drawing ever closer, she’s turned in a new slab of soulful electronic Pop to tide us over.

Taking things a little deeper than her previous bouncy offerings, Search Siren is an epic, cinematic, affair. The song sees Ron is full-on diva mode as she delivers an huge emotive performance over a cavalcade of vintage synth sounds. Buzzing synths and a haunting piano line intertwine over a relentlessly funk beat while Ronika’s multi layered vocals, tinged with a hint of melancholy, whip the track into a rousing lament that would work equally well on the dancefloor or in the headphones. Showing ever more versatility in her music, Ronika continues to cement her place as one of the UK’s rising stars, we can’t wait for the album.

[MP3] Rich Taste’s ‘Faint In Love’

Rich Taste

Rich Taste are a new duo hailing from the Brooklyn who appear to have formed, recorded a song in a few hours, stuck it on SoundCloud and generally taken some artists who have been doing this for years to school. James and Eva produced their début tune, Faint In Love, in one night, assisted only by a bottle of Scotch. Now that’s how you make music!

Faint In Love is am analog synth heavy Pop tune. utilising much of the same icy sound pallet as Minimal Synth but injecting it with an Italo Disco warmth and an emotional core. Faint In Love reminds us a little of the early material from fellow NYC residents The Golden Filter with a slight Scandinavian twist with it’s spikey, but funky, synth work and swirling beautiful vocals that slip from ethereal to pin sharp effortlessly. Also, the track has a chorus that’ll be stuck in your head all day, which is always a plus.

[MP3] Wolf Saga’s ‘Always With Me’

Wolf Saga

Here’s the latest blissed out slice of hazy synth gold from Canada’s Wolf Saga. Increasingly featuring his vocals in his tunes seems to have allowed Mr. Saga to express himself in a much fuller way. This particular tune, Always With Me, sees the Wolfman working though some issues of peeps growing apart. and getting Chillwavey with it too.

And while he’s working otu some issues, Wolf Saga is going to deliver a big, bombastic, Indie-Electro tune that full of swirling synths and heart. It’s a sweet introspective song, with a sound that’s largest that it would at first suggest. From the growling synth bass to the sparking chimes, the track fills the speakers in a way you don’t often expect from quaint Indie-Electro. Wolf Saga is going from strength to strength, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

[MP3] Panama reMixes Clubfeet

Clubfeet

South African/Australian Indie-Electro outfit Clubfeet have not only just embarked on an Australian tour but are also gearing up for the release of their new double A-side single ‘Everything You Wanted/Heartbreak’, due for release later this month. Ahead of the new single dropping, tour support, Future Classic artist Panama has reMixes the guys previous offering Cape Town to Tropical effect.

Panama’s take on Cape Town is like a laid back Island embrace.  A rolling Disco effort who’s stomping basslines, beach purcussion and twisting Moog Funk leads all combine with a raw piano hook to create a chilled but pumping poolside groove. Add a splash of hazy and fitting vocals that are actually darker than first listen might suggest, and you’ve got an interesting, summery track right here.

Clubfeet – Cape Town (Panama reMix)

Clubfeet’s new double A-side is out 15th July.
