ATTAR! & Citizens!

Citizens!

What happens when you get more than one band with an exclamation point in their name together? Is that like dividing by zero? Well, hold on to something just in case 50% of mustang, ATTAR!, is reMixing London Indie-ElectroPop crew and Kitsuné’s new darlings, Citizens!. !!!.

There’s a nice meeting of two things that are a perfect fit going on here. First there is Renaud Deru deep, analog sounding, stripped down Disco, which draws it’s groove DNA from ‘80’s dance, then there is Citizens!’s singer Tom’s slick ‘80’s vocal style, part Gary Numan, part Peter Murphy. The meeting of the two seems like a match made in heaven. This is glorious retroPop at it’s finest.

Brodinski reMixes BeNi

beni

BeNi, an artist that never stops, is releasing his new single, the Prince Terrence featuring ‘Last Night’ next month and the reMix package looks like it’ll be storming.

The highlight of the single could well be this low down dirty reMix from Brodinski, who’s been killing it lately. Pulsating synthetic Disco meets a dark Techy edge on this mix with Brodinski busting out his best robotic march and sprinkles the tune with harsh Industrial bass and a hint of Acid. It makes an awesome contrast with the soulful vocals. The rEMix will feature alongside tracks from Oliver $ and Waifs & Strays on the single.

BeNi – Last Night (Brodinski reMix)

‘Last Night’ is released late April on Modular Recordings, it;s taken from BeNi’s album of last year, ‘House Of Beni’.

Violet Tremors ‘Nothing’ video

Here’s the first video from LA based Minimal Synth duo Violet Tremors’ ace album of last year, ‘Time is The Traitor’.

Alex Smith directed the clip which features the girls coming on like a female Cabaret Voltaire, an angry cloud and some dogs. Even if we’re not sure what’s going on it looks really slick and really captures Violet Tremors perfectly.

‘Time Is The Traitor’ is out now.

PNAU’s ‘Soft Universe’ gets Ministry Of Sound CD release

pnau

PNAU’s new album ‘Soft Universe’ is out later this month. But wait, isn’t it already out? Why, yes, yes it is. The album was first released to the world last summer, then got picked up by Ministry Of Sound  and released digitally by them now, at the end of March, MOS are releasing ‘Soft Universe’ on CD.

I’s an awesome, euphoric record that we talked a lot about last year and if, like us, you still have a massive soft spot for a physical release, it’s definitely an album that warrants the real deal. Crammed full or rousing, emotionial and massive sounding ElectroPop floorfillers. ‘Soft universe’ has already spawned a couple of huge singles. I expect you’ve already got this record, but if you haven’t check out some of the highlights below and the grab yourself a copy soon, at least in time for summer.

Malibu B & Binalog Frequency

Malibu B

Last month we featured Hungarian SynthWave dreamer Malibu B’s new single ‘Engame’, well not it;s getting a proper release, courtesy of Binalog Productions with the EP including a new dark rework from Binalog Frequency himself.

Binalog’s ‘Return To LA’ version takes the aspects of ‘Endgame’ most suited to spinning on your back on a peice of lino and runs with them. This is kind of dark, moody, Electro that flourished through the likes of Juan Aitkin’s Cryotron briefly before Hip Hop hit the big time and still lurks in the Electro shadows. The Jan Hammer-esque lead line of ‘Endgame’ takes on a whole new dystopian feel when coupled with Binalog’s 808 percussion. All this is driving by a growling, relentless machine beat. If the original is Miami Vice, then this is The Terminator.

Lameboy Advance’s new tune

Lameboy Advance

German retro synth producer Lameboy Advance had dropped a new tune. ‘The Scene’ that puts the Boogie back into Electro and a little soul into a SynthWave.

‘The Scene’ is pretty slick and laid back, but with a solid vintage groove and all the smoothness of an ‘80’s electronic Soul track. Those dreamy chords alone are enough to rock the vibe, but when Lameboy turns on his Herbie Hancock-esque soloing skills the whole track ascends to a higher level. Chilled out SynthWave bliss.

Guy Zalaxy and Emeron Kale reMix St. Lucia

stlucia

Guy Zalaxy is the solo moniker of Joe from Follow Me, who’s teamed up with Emeron & Fox’s  Emeron Kale to drop this awesome deep ElectroPop reMix of St. Lucia’s ‘Closer Than This’.

Recently released on Neon Gold as part of St. Lucia’s self-titled EP the original is a summery beach Pop anthem that Zalaxy and Kale transform into a blissed out analog retro Pop gem. Taking cues from Dreamwave and Nu-Disco, but keeping things ElectroPop, this reMix is the kind of track that you can’t help but smile at. Loaded with big sweeping synths and twinkling melodies riding on top a squelchy analog bassline Zalaxy and Kale up the nostalgia ante and make the chorus sound just that little more epic.
