Zimmer reMixed by Lou Teti

zimmer

Zimmer’s ‘Horizontal Disco’ EP was one of the highlights of the latter half of last year. Now Discotexas far going for a second win with the soon-to-be-released ‘Horizontal Disco reMixes’.

Lou Teti contribution to the EP is this smooth sunset reMix of ‘Crusin’’ that plays on the originals riff amidst a beautiful, chilled out, Disco groove. The laid back solo really is something you need to hear. The EP will also boast reMixes from the likes of Moullinex, Broke One, Jeremy Glenn, Moon Boots, Xinobi and Mercury, that’s quite a line up. This collection drops in April, not only on digital but on a transparent 12” limited to 200 copies.

CHEW LiPS

CHEW LiPS – Mini Mixtape Vol. 1 = The awesome CHEW LiPS are hinting at their return with this ten minute minimix. It;s an eclectic selection of tune, but of particular interest here is the second from last track (right before the Um Bongo ad music!) is a brand new CHEW LiPS track, ‘Do You Chew’! Nickee B

Nickee B

Smooth sounds now from French SynthWave producer Nickee B and ‘In The Heat Of The Night’.

‘In The Heat Of The Night’ plays out like deep late night Italo. With a mid-tempo groove that allows it’s lead lines to evolve with out being rushed, Nickee B takes his time and lays on layers of melody and sweet solo playing creating something quite magical. For those chilled nights in the city.

Sohight’s new tune

sohight

Riding high on the success of their, frankly awesome, ‘High School’ EP for Kiez Beats, Russian duo Sohight has dropped a new free track, ‘My Lovin’’

‘My Lovin’’ is just the kind of top-quality SynthWave with a Disco twist we’ve come to expect from these guys in the past few months. The squelchy bassline just oozes Funk which the shimmering, think, retro synths work their sweet sweet magic. With this track Sohight have managed to fall neatly into a very hard place for producers to reach, that spot with the rousing nostalgia of SynthWave and the dancefloor energy of Electro-House, without falling too far one way or the other and without loosing the groove.

Sohight – My Lovin’

‘High School’ is out 13th April and also includes a reMix from Kreap.

New sounds from Oxford

oxford

As the weather is slowly getting better French Nu-Disco guy Oxford has just dropped the perfect tune for seeing in these warmer days.

‘Mirage ‘84’ is a nostalgic, laid back, good times slice of French Disco. Build around a slick little guitar lick and some massive retro synths, the track is another blindingly good peice of work from the producer from Toulouse. ‘Mirage ‘84’ is pure synthesized sunshine.

TEEEL & Selebrities

Selebrities

Rapidly becoming one of our favourite producers, the New Jersey based TEEEL cements his reputation even more by reMixing the awesome New Wave outfit Selebrities.

Taking ‘Forgotten’, Selebrities swirling mixture of Shoegaze and ElectroPop, TEEEL pulls back on the guitars and drops a huge electronic beat and layers of thick, lush synths. The track actually retains the same mood, the same dreamlike groove, but the added synths give it that cosmic edge and the variation in the drum pattern shake up the track.

Flash Arnold’s ‘Back Then’

Flash Arnold

Here’s a sweeping new tune from Finnish SynthWave producer Flash Arnold.

‘Back Then’ mixes things up a bit. Flash Arnold drops quite a few elements into the mix. From the Italo bassline, to the Jan Hammer-esque keys and the soaring SynthWave solo, the man puts together a rich, emotive track with an impulsive energy and a lead line full of contemplation. ‘Back Then’ conjures the best of hammers Miami Vice work and gives it a dancefloor kick in the arse. Oh, and woodblocks!

MNDR reMixed by Azari & III

mndr

MNDR’s ‘#1 In Heaven’ is one of my favourite tracks of the year so far. It’s raw, catchy and in-your-face ElectroPop, so it’s definitely a good thing that they entrusted it to someone with such a track records as deep ‘90’s Housemeisters Azari & III.

Azari & III’s reMix an epic building, hypnotic track full a massive dose of Beep House (probably my favourite (defunct) House genre). it’s chock full of rattling 909 hats, square basses, resonant synths and a moody, intoxicating atmosphere that would have killed in late ‘80’s warehouse parties. Totally different from the original, Azari & III have made a powerful complimentary track.

MNDR – #1 In Heaven (Azari And III reMix)

‘#1 In Heaven’ is out now with MNDR’s full length album due out this summer, both on Ultra.

Cadillac covers Daft Punk

Cadillac

Covering something from Daft Punk’s legendary, and frankly untouchable, ‘Discovery album? That’s a pretty brave act. Let’s see how Australian Dreamwavey Indie-Electro outfit Cadillac tackle this huge, and dangerous feat.

‘Too Long’ is one of the most vocal tracks Daft Puck have ever done, so it’s probably the best choice for a band to cover and Cadillac do an admirable job. Produced as part of Le Coq Sportif and Future Classic’s series of Australian covers of classic French tracks, the cover is a chilled out Tropical take o the track. Cadillac haven’t tried to reproduce the laid back French Disco House of the original but rather gone down a new beach vibe route, probably a good idea.

Futurecop! reMix Foster The People

FosterThePeople

Futurecop! mare back in the mix with this, their version of Foster The People’s ‘Don’t Stop (Color The Walls)’.

The first thing you notice about the track is the rapid fire Italo, almost EBM, bassline. A first for Futurecop!, but gives the track a driving energy. This soon gives way to a big, dirty Electro chorus full of chainsaw synths. The Birmingham SynthWave duo have given the track a euphoric dancefloor working over that builds and builds with layers of growling electronic until the tension breaks and the good times roll.
