Serbian Electro-House meister sevdahBABY has dropped by the electronic rumors Inbox with his latest reMix, I couldn’t help myself but feature it!
It’s a banging reworking of Sabrina Salerno’s 1987 Italo/EuroPop crossover ‘Boys (Summertime Love)’. Does it work? Damn straight it does! Even dropping a bit of Dire Straits in the mix it perfectly captures late 80’s TV Pop but brings it right up to date and straight to the dancefloor. Tons of fun to!
¡borracho! have just dropped their long awaited reMix of Canadian ElectroPoppers AXXE’s ‘Hard Candy’ over on their SoundCloud.
We really dig both ¡borracho! and AXXE here so the pairing has gagging for a listen ever since the guys hinted at it. It’s a rolling, pretty chilled, piano driven Electro-House tune that turns AXXE’s Noise-Pop into something altogether smoother.
Riot In Belgium’s ‘La Musique’ was one of my top tunes of 2007, it’s an amazing party track, and we have much love for Cut Copy, obviously. So the idea of RIB’s Joel Dickson and Dan Whitford of CC working together fill us with musical joy.
The end result is Voltage, and they’ve just released their début single, ‘All Night’. With more bounce to the ounce, the Moog heavy space Disco assaults you with an infectious bassline and stargazing vocals, with covering fire from electro toms and handclaps flying left and right. This is the kinda’ thing Buck Rodgers should have been dancing to in to 80’s!
We’ve already dropped the trippy video and the pretty great Sam La More reMix of Miami Horror’s new single, ‘Moon Theory, on you. Now it’s time to see what Punks Jump Up can do with the track.
Taking a slightly harder and more chaotic tack than La More, PJU turn the tune into a big dirty Electro Rave track with warping bass and distorted synth work but the end result turns out quite uplifting.
Alrighty synth fans! I hope you all had a good weekend, mine was made that little bit better by coming home to find a new email from Australia’s best kept secret, Beaumont, pimping out his new reMix.
Taking on ‘I Won’t Kneel’ by Groove Armada, featuring the vocals of SaintSaviour, Beaumont continues to go from strength to strength, his skills as a reMixer and produces seem to be growing with every new mix. His musical confidence too, which shines though in this complex, yet funky as hell, reMix.
Yesterday the excellent Melbourne based SynthPop/Dreamwave act Miami Horror unleashed their new video for the track ‘Moon Theory’.
It’s a chilled groove full of interesting synth sounds with a video produced by Pharm productions that features some kind of space cowboy and, er, other stuff…
Last time Kitsuné Music collaborated with one of Richard Mortimer projects on a CD the end result was ‘Kitsuné/BoomBox’. Mixed by, both Kitsuné resident and resident at Mortimer’s legendary BoomBox club, Jerry Bouthier, the album brought together Electro-house and underground ElectroPop to amazingly capture the summer of 2007 for anyone listening to that type of music or going to those types of clubs. it was easily the soundtrack to the year.
This summer Kitsuné are partnering up with Mortimer’s current business, the London based Fashion/Music/Culture webzine PonyStep, to produce another compilation. Mixed, once more, by one half of JBAG, Bouthier, the track list is already impressive. Featuring the likes of Róisín Murphy, Bag Raiders, Adamski, Lindstrøm, Lo-Fi-Fnk, David E Sugar and Das Pop to name a few. BeatauCue’s reMix of Florrie’s ‘911’ makes an appearance in the form of a JBAG edit. As does Two Door Cinema Club’s previous single ‘I Can Talk’ as reMixed by French Horn Rebellion. With a line up like that, and Jerry Bouthier’s prowess at putting together an awesome electronic Pop mix this album should really be something special!
Minitel Rose, those purveyors of the smoothest of French SynthPop & Dreamwave, are finally gearing up to drop their second album ‘Atlantic’ this June, and that (if you didn’t know) is an exiting thing! Their 2008 début ‘The French Machine’ still gets weekly play here and was an important record in terms of introducing a smoother French Electro sound to the masses and drawing wider attention to the Dreamwave movement being spearheaded by the Valerie Collective.
Listening to ‘Wild Birds’, the first track from the album, just wets the appetite even more. Their Electro-House tinged Disco SynthPop is in full effect on this energetic, anthemic track. It’s retro synth chords and uplifting vocals seriously bode well for this album being the soundtrack to the summer. electronic rumors fave Barretso give the track a shot of adrenaline with his reMix, busting out his best pumping percussion and shimmering synths to create a powerhouse of a reMix. Kolt13 brings a Disco/Chiptune soundclash to his version, and intricate mixture of Nintendo madness and Discoball funk.
Minitel Rose look like they are going to release an awesome album, with some awesome remixes. Can’t wait!
Zoot Woman, that bastion of UK slick, ultra-stylish, ElectroPop release a new single today, titled ‘Just A Friend Of Mine’.
The single, from Stuart Price’s sometime band, is supported with reMixes by Dinamics, The Penelopes and SomethingALaMode and it’s the SALM mix that we can preview for you here. Melding dirty Electro with dramatic orchestration births a unique dancefloor tension, the distorted synths and violin clashing to create a nervous energy that really works as a counterpoint to the Poppy vocals.
This track has been sat in the electronic rumors inbox all weekend, I initially wasn’t going to write about it but then found I was listening to it over and over, so here it is!
sevdahBABY is a Serbian Electro-House producer and this track he has dropped, ‘Don’t Look Back’ is (to me anyway) pretty addictive. Both it’s broken beats and it’s mixture of Electro sounds and sounds reminiscant of early 90’s Bleep House just hit the right spot! This is the kind of dance music I get lost in…
