[Audio] Prins Thomas’ ‘Åpne Slusa (Lang Versjon)’

Prins Thomas

Åpne Slusa will be appearing on the forthcoming third album from Norwegian Cosmic Disco pioneer Prins Thomas, titled Prins Thomas III. the album will be dropping on Full Pupp and ahead of the release Prins’ own label, Rett I Fletta, is sneaking out an EP based around the track headlined by this Lang Versjon.

And Lang it is too; clocking in at just under ten minutes, Prins revels in the Scandinavian Disco tradition of epic synth wig-outs. Almost immediately the tune hit your with the cowbells, so you know what you;re in for. Italo led quirky Disco grooves and Sci-Fi sounds. Powering forward on an almost Acidic squelchy arpeggio the track takes it’s time to deliver it’s bass heavy galactic core, but when it does you;re already lost in it.

[Video] College’s ‘Les Automates’

College Les Automates YouTube

Taken from his last album Heritage, Les Automates by Dreamwave originator College was probably the track most reminiscent of his older work on the record. Nostalgic, synthetic, atmospheric sounds. And now available in video form.

Put together by the Valerie crew and Clark Wang, the clip follows three guys journey through a ghost-town dystopian

[Audio] Xeno & Oaklander’s ‘Interface’

Xeno & Oaklander

New York Minimal Synth duo Xeno & Oaklander signed up with Ghostly International late last year, which strikes up as a fitting pairing. They’ve just announced their first release for the label, their new album Par Avion, due out in June. The record was inspired by synaesthesia, and you can hear the opening tune below.

Interface feels like a more focused Xeno & Oaklander than ever. It’s a spacious SynthPop tune that flutters in and out of a early New Order-y vibe and washes it was a distinct Shoegaze sound. Imagine Horrorhead era Curve and Joy Division collaborating on a track produced by Kraftwerk and you’re somewhere in the right ballpark. Blissful to listen to, this definitely has us interested to see what direction the new album takes.

[Download] Clancy’s ‘Take it Slow’

Clancy

The boy’s doing good. London based producer Clancy had a pretty massive 2013, a couple of slammin;’ EPs, a heap of well-received reMixes (including something rather tasty indeed), and getting all up in Kitsuné business. Obviously feeling pretty chuffed about all this, Clancy has dropped a free tune as a thank you for all the support he’s received over the past year. Sink into Take It Slow.

Riding a deep warping bassline, Take It Slow delivers thick, mood setting, House vibes. Enigmatic and intoxicating, this musical mystery allows it’s subby bass to provide a rock solid platform for airy keys to serve up something a little more kinetic. Take It Slow isn’t actually that slow, but it is brooding and magical and one to loose yourself in at the end of the night.

[Audio] Hey Champ!’s ‘Dominoes’

heychamp

Here’s the new single from Chicago’s finest SynthPoppers, Hey Champ!. Released later this month, Dominoes was actually producers around the time of Cold Dust Girl but is only just now ready for release. Considering the relatively long career these guys have had, we reckon it’s time their acclaim kicked into a new gear; hopefully 2014 will be the year of Hey Champ!

Dominoes sees Hey Champs! rich ElectroPop imbued with a slight Kraftwerkian edge. The stuttering synth bassline is both competing and loaded with robot funk. Considering how long ago the track was born, it sound amazingly fresh, chock full of thick synths and an easy summertime groove. They way the machine like verses bleed into the warm and passionate chorus feels effortless amid this sea of sparking synths. Sunshine SynthPop at it’s best.

[Audio] The Presets reMix Kylie Minogue’s ‘I Was Gonna’ Cancel’

kylie-minogue-presets

I think someone’s been reading our secret wish-list, ‘cos The Presets have gone and turned in an official reMix for Kylie Minogue. I Was Gonna’ Cancel will be the second proper single from Kylie’s new album, Kiss Me Once, a track originally produced by Pharrell Williams, is given a left-field House makeover by the Australian masters.

The Presets take an abstract, warehouse, stab at the track; injecting a whole load of their own style into the mix. To a certain extent the tune sounds a lot like The Presets featuring Kylie Minogue, playing with a selection of The Presets trademark sonic flourishes; but Kylie’s voice amongst the experimental House groove adds an extra bit of sparkle. Unexpectedly deep.
