Mental Minority’s new tune

Mental Minority

Here we have another new track from mystery German producer Mental Minority.

‘Turn the Key’ is a driving slice of Post-Italo SynthWave. Crammed full of ‘80’s referencing politically charged samples and a bassline full of nervous energy, the track has an air of anticipation about it. It’s a track of two halves, and kinda’ tells a story that way. There’s the initial half that is thick with expectation and glides along in a retro Electro way, with big ‘80’s chords and a steady beat. Then part two kicks in, double times the bassline and the track powers to it’s climax, a shimmering lead line that let’s us know everything might just be alright in the end.

Camaro Kids’ new EP

camaro kids

Here’s the latest slice of Nu-Disco to come out of the Champagne Records stable. This time stepping up to bat it’s  Camaro Kids taking wailing ‘80’s guitar to the Disco.

The ‘Back To The night’ EP is a five track monster of Hair Metal Funk, weaving screaming riffs with dirty cut-up grooves in a way we haven’t really heard single Xinobi’s ‘Varial Kickflip’. From the EP’s self-titled opener its a strong release, full of infectious beats and nostalgic fun. This is full-on, high octane, pretty batshit insane, dancefloor craziness. Let the ‘Back To The Night’ EP guide you into your weekend.

Mickey reMixes Housse De Racket

Housse De Racket

Belgian producer Mickey may be a relative newcomer but he always brings his A-game, as he does on his latest mix, Housse De Racket’s forthcoming new single, ‘Château’.

Taken from Housse De Racket’s amazing ‘Alésia’ album, It’s a cool track to begin with, but when Mickey lays down that analog bass, like he does, the track becomes indie robo Disco gold. The understated blend of the bass, a subtle piano and lush strings with Housse De Racket’s Parisian Indie vocals make for a tack that seems not to try to impress, but does so naturally. It’s going to be quite a year for this Belgian producer, one that will see the name Mickey gaining more and more traction.

Evokateur’s new EP

Evokateur

London based ElectroPop duo Evokateur are unleashing their latest creation early in march, the ‘Crows’ Wedding’ EP, which sees the duo drifting in a slightly Poppier direction.

When last they graced these pages, they were about to release the critically acclaimed ‘Wolf Girl’, and eclectic and dark slice of ElectroPop. The four tracks that make up ‘Crow’s Wedding’ have an altogether more optimistic and upbeat vibe to them. The EP kicks off with recent single ‘Same As You’, which is as good an example of classic SynthPop as you’ll ever find. Sarah’s passionate and, yes catchy, vocals ride so smoothly over Hector Villaraus’ production. Which this time around takes a much more accessible approach with big, lush synths and an sweet ‘80’s bassline. It’s an awesome lead for the EP. ‘Misery’ is up next, and OK, that’s a pretty dark title, but the track, although more of a brooding lament than the EPs opener, is still musically pretty Poppy. A rolling and enveloping expression of synth and vocal emotion. ‘Wildflowers’ is an ‘80’s electronic power-balled that’s up there with the best of them that showcases Sarah’s vocals to their smokey, dramatic fullest. The EP’s closing track is the only song on the EP that really hints at Evokateur’s EBM roots with it’s pulsating Industrial percussion. ‘Crows’ Wedding’ is definitely a confident EP, and Evokateur definitely have a lot to be confident about.

Radio INK’s ‘Who We Are Tonight’ video

We haven’t heard from Australian ElectroPopsters Radio INK since last years ‘Rocket’ single, but they’re back with a brand new track, the first off of their forthcoming début album, and a shiny new video.

‘Who We Are Tonight’ is the kind of massive electronic Pop that we’ve come to expect from this Antepodean troupe with a massive chorus. Not too sure what’s going on in the Jefferton James directed video, but it looks nice.

Radio INK are going on tour in Oz with Aqua of all people! Details on their website.

New tune from Follow Me

Follow Me

Some brand new night time SynthWave right here from Follow Me who’s just dropped his latest work, ‘A Mission Nocturnal’.

It’s a stomping, moody Italo based tune, which some awesome little flourishes, especially in the second half with the delay heavy guitar sample. There’s a bright, almost oriental feel to the twisting and intertwining arpeggios that, arguably, are the core of this track. With the Italo bassline below them and the big retro chords above, they help the track along to becoming a class late night jam.

Little Jinder’s ‘Keep On Dreaming’ video

Sometimes I get the feeling people don’t really know what to do with an artist like Little Jinder.

Take her forthcoming single, the big bass and little voiced ‘Keep On Dreaming’, I wouldn’t be trying to sell this to the UK Funky or Dubstep crowd, I’d shop this to the eclectic Indie-Electro listeners. It’s a really good track that might not get the recognition it deserves if it’s stuck in a pigeon hole.

‘Keep On Dreaming’ is out 13th March on Trouble & Bass.

Moullinex reMixes Karin Park

Karin Park png

Moullinex’s latest awesome Disco workout is a reMix of Swedish singer/songwriter and synth fiddler Karin Park’s ‘Fryngies’.

It;s the second single from her forthcoming new album ‘High Wire Poetry’ and Moullinex goes all out to wash the icy, Dubby,  ElectroPop with a low-down groove. You wouldn’t have immediately though that the chilly, razor sharp synths of the original could be given such a warm Tropical make-over but Moullinex brings in a Funking bassline, a shuffling beat and some chiming synths  and take Karin to the beach, whether she likes it or not!

Ronika’s ‘Automatic’

ronika

Woo-hoo! It’s new Ronika single time! Ron’s been really busy recently, running all over the place doing stuff for, amongst others, the Red Bull Music Academy, Shook and Me, how she’s crammed in the time to get her groove back on with a new EP I have no idea. The girl’s a workaholic, or a grooveaholic if you will.

‘Automatic’ is PopJustice song-of-the-day today, PJ claims Ronika isn’t from the ‘80’s but I’m not convinced. Frankly I’m not sure what is actually more likely, that someone can make tracks this good, and this authentically ‘80’s DiscoPop or that someone could have invented a time machine in secret sometime around 1983/84. With ‘Automatic’ Ron has dropped a massive slab of Pop-Funk with an addictive bassline, a catchy chorus and a solo that flies. It’s not all retro goodness though, there’s enough modern elements in the track to keep it sounding contemporary, inn fact, it sounds like a Nu-Disco edit of ‘80’s Pop hit. Also 5 Star.
