Curxes new track

Hello, did someone order a heavyweight slab of ElectroPop with a side order of rapid fire Industrial percussion? Curxes will be over shortly with your order.

Curxes latest offering , ‘Haunted Gold’, is like a big ol’ slab of Post-Punk without all that tedious mucking around with guitars. Kicking off with a true Einstürzende Neubauten style riff on the bass washing machine, the track is dominated by a jump-up beat, if jump-up beats were made by tank drivers, and Roberta’s finest Siouxsie intensity. Industrial, real Industrial, is quite a feat, production wise, but Curxes have pretty much nailed it with ‘Haunted Gold’ and produced an vivid and haunting track that is only sweetened but some awesome little synth riffs and a really nice ‘80’s drop.

World Tour’s new EP

World Tour

April will see the release of Sweedish three peice eclectic outfit World Tour’s third EP, ‘Believe’, on the home of all things Chilly, Wavey, Interestingy and Left-Field Poppy, Cascine.

This new EP is comprised of four tracks worth of chilled beats and slow-mo Piano House riffs and impassioned wailing from the tundra. An intricately crafted mix of introspective Indie and synth happy electronica, the ‘Believe’ EP is geared toward those times when you need to just stop and take everything in, this isn’t music for those in a hurry. The title track of the EP mixes up wrong speed House and a slightly oriental slant for an end result that makes everything go a bit hazy.

World Tour – Believe

The ‘Believe’ EP is released 10th April on Cascine.

Lovefoxxx & Steve Aoki

OK, so I’m really not a fan of Steve Aoki, I find his music mostly pretty tedious. Derivative and simplistic I have no idea how he got famous, it seems generally from ‘knowing people’ rather than ‘being good at music or DJing’. However, I flippin’ love Lovefoxx and thankfully Mr Aoki hasn’t made something completely terrible in ‘Heartbreaker’, their collaboration.

It’s a surprisingly good, pretty funky, Electro Disco tune that’s actually catchy as hell which I’m loving more each time I listen to it. It comes with an ace video too! You’ve earned yourself a temporary reprieve Mr. Aoki, but we’re watching you.

‘Heartbreaker’ is taken from Steve Aoki’s album, ‘Wonderland’, out now.

The Penelopes reMixed by The Flight (& Edwin Van Cleef)

The Penelopes

Quirky French ElectroPop duo The Penelopes release their new single at the beginning of next month. ‘Sally In The Galaxy’ is an uplifting, catchy track with a package that comes loaded with ace reMixes.

Producers of the original version, The Flight, who apparently have zero web-presence, drop their ‘Galactic’ reMix and it’s a fittingly title slab of Cosmic Disco. Weighing in heavy with their vocoders and sweet soaring synths The Flight, who still apparently have zero web-presence, strip the gangly Indie side of the track out, layer on their own Sci-Fi funk and what remains is a smooth beach Disco track fit for chilling on the Shores of Orion. It’s a nice contrast to the original’s fuzzy French Indie/Disco soundclash Pop sound. Both are equally infectious.

While you’re here, check out Edwin Van Cleef’s version which we neglected to post a while back so we’re glad to get the opportunity to here in all it;s ‘90’s Deep House glory.

The Ghosts’ ‘Ghosts’ video

The biggest tragedy we’ve had to report on here on electronic rumors was the premature passing away of Où Est Le Swimming Pool singer Charlie Haddon, it was a shocking time for ElectroPop fans and I imagine a tough time for his bandmates.

Où Est keyboard player Alex is gaining a bit of attention with his new project, The Ghosts, who are just about to release their second single, ‘Ghosts’. A wonderfully catchy slice of Indie-Electro that shares some obvious Où Est DNA but carves out a sound of it’s own. With it’s heavy synths played against some distant gangly Indie guitar it strikes exactly the right balance for success. Check out the Alex Kyrou directed video which is nicely spooky and tongue in cheek.

‘Ghosts’ is released 8th April on Pocket Records with The Ghosts’ début album released the following week.

New music from Parallels

parallels

Oh hell yeah! Toronto’s finest, Parallels, are back in the game!

The Canadian SynthPop duo have announced the June release of their second album, ‘XII’, the follow up to their stunning début, ‘Visionaries’. The first track to see the light of day from the album is ‘Moonlight Desires’, actually a cover of Canadian ‘80’s artist Gowen, a bright, shiny SynthPop dream. Apparently the new album won’t be as dark as ‘Visionaries’, but if this track is anything to go by it’ll be awesome. The shimmering synths in ‘Moonlight Desires’ are more ‘80’s and Playful than in the slightly more aggressive tracks on ‘Visionaries’ but we think that’ll make for a nice companion album.

Parallels – Moonlight Desires

‘XII’ is due out 26th June.

Ladyhawke & Treasure Fingers

Ladyhawke

Ladyhawke being reMixed by Treasure Fingers? Oh, it’s just like the good old days, or at least 2008, when Pip ruled all and TF reMixed everyone!

So this nostalgic team up actually delivers the goods. Leaning very much in a ‘90’s House direction, Treasure Fingers drops beats, breaks and House Piano liberally only keeping the chorus and the tiniest bit of synth from Ladyhawke’s original. Although much more retro House than he used to be you can still tell a Treasure Fingers production, just like you can always tell Pip’s vocals. Ahh, the memories…

Ladyhawke – Black, White And Blue (Treasure Fingers reMix)

‘Black, White And Blue’ is out now on Modular Recordings.
