The Touch’s ‘Sermon’

The Touch’s ‘Sermon’ was first heard on Kitsuné’s 11th Maison album and now Kitsuné Music are giving it a full single release.

This young quartet from Sweeden’s début single is a dark, almost avant-garde ElectroPop tune with introspective vocals driving along by a heartbeat kick drum. Coming very much from the The Knife end of Scandinavian ElectroPop The Touch’s abstract use of synths and melody come together to form a really listenable experience. The single will also contain reMixes from Chad Valley, Renaissance Man, Seekae, Cosmonaut and DJ Nibc.

The Human League’s next single

The Human League next single, the fourth taken from their recent album ‘Credo’, will be ‘Sky’.

It’s a bit of an odd choice for a single release, I think there are tracks on the album that are better suited, but it’s pretty quintessential League. A classic ElectroPop bassline and Phil’s narrative vocals dominate the track. The single is backed up with reMixes from Plastic Plates, The Hacker, Fusty Delights and Martin Brodin. Plastic Plates bring some really nice synth Funk into play on his reMix, which is probably my favourite of the single, while Fusty Delights is a close second as he revels in a retro synth workout that boarders on ols school EBM at times with rapid fire arpeggios.

Final DJs actually make a shit LMFAO track good

‘Party Rock Anthem’ by LMFAO is shit. I know it, you know it, it’s the kind of track that gives Electro a bad name and just an embarrassment.

So when Final DJs dropped of their remix of the track I really wasn’t going to write about it, however, it turned out to be really good. Final DJs are fast becoming really talented at big retro synth lines and slick production and this track really show off their skills. Pity about the fucking irritating vocals.

RüFüS reMix Elizabeth Rose

Elizabeth Rose is an Australian electronic singer/songwriter who makes beautiful, dreamy electronic music in a similar vein to Fever Ray and Björk.

Originally fellow Aussie trio RüFüS set out to reMix Elizabeth’s track ‘Stars Ago’ but ended up in full blown collaboration with the singer who re-recorded her vocals in duet with RüFüS for a more dancefloor oriented track. RüFüS are seriously showing themselves as a force to be reckoned with here, both the production and arrangement in this version are pretty flawless and the sound palette with it’s layers of synth lines that seem to weave in and out of one another, mirroring the duelling vocals, is an electronic music fan’s dream.

Elizabeth Rose – Stars Ago (RüFüS reMix)

Here’s the original tune. It’s a really nice, chilled piece but you can see just how different RüFüS’ version ended up being.

RüFüS are gearing up for their forthcoming EP release on On The Fruit Records

Kid Kasio’s new video

UK SynthPop wizard Kid Kasio is back with a brand new tune and video.

Shot on location in New Orleans at their 6 Flags theme park ,which was destroyed by hurricane Katrina in 2005, Nathan Cooper once again proves that with talent and vision you really can do it yourself, without a major labels budget, and produce indistinguishable results.

His latest tune, ‘Over And Over’, perfectly captures that meeting of melancholy and hopefulness that was only really done well in the 80’s with reflective and nostalgic subject matter set against uplifting melodies. The video was directed by Dominic Cooper with photography direction from Ben Todd and Rufus Sewell (yes, that Rufus Sewell).

Kid Kasio is now equipped with a shiny new keyboard rig and ready to take his sound live!

Mix Chopin’s new EP

Mix Chopin is dropping a new release on Shiny Disco Club tomorrow, it’s prefect Sunday Disco fodder!

The ‘Love Story’ EP contains three tracks of densely layered Nu-Disco, the lead track ‘Bonne Nuit’ is a Moog funk infused slice of DiscoHouse that the Torontonian producer lays out over four and a half minutes of feel good electronic groove. Robotaki and Hana Yori Kichou Na are amongst the contributors of reMixes to the EP. Robotaki takes things down a more electronic Disco route combining bringing a little Filer flavour to proceedings leaving HYKN to slam it right back to the Disco and chop things up.

Chad Valley reMixed by Dreamtrak

Dreamtrak’s reMix of ‘Now that I’m Real (How Does It Feel?)’, the lead track from Chad Valley’s ‘Equatorial Ultravox’ EP is a piece of pure electronic euphoria.

ElectroPop heaven is what’s on offer here, making the Chillwave riffs of the original into 80’s-esque gold. Keeping the space and depth of the original’s vocals but reigning the track to make it more dancefloor friendly Dreamtrak delivers a sunrise tune that will make you love the world.

Ren Riz reMixes Sunday Girl’s version of ‘Self Control’

I kinda’ prefer the original version of ‘Self Control’ over Sunday Girl’s, but when Aussie producer Ren Riz gets his hands on it things change.

Suddenly we get pulsing 80’s synth bass with a touch of slap and lush House piano. I never though Sunday Girl really captured the electronic mysteriousness of the original track but Ren decided to go in totally the opposite direction with an almost Italo party workout. Apparently Ren was asked for the reMix twelve months ago. Worth the wait I reckon.
