Expo’s new single

expo

It’s been a while since we last heard from Expo, did anyone ever find out who the “rather well-known Belgian DJ-formation.” that made up Expo was?

Well, they’re back with a brand new track, ‘Right Here With Me’, and it’s sheer quality SynthPop. Reeling in the tempo to a nice ‘80’s Pop pace this track isn’t so much dancefloor fodder as what I call a ‘long journey tune’, as in this is what you want on your Walkman (or whatever the kids are using these days) when embarking on a cross-country train/coach trip. Well defiantly be keeping a beady ear on Expo, let’s hope it’s not so long time until the next track this time.

SaiR drops new tune

SaiR

Our boy SaiR has unleashed another massive slice of electronic Disco on the world, prepare for summery good times regardless of the weather.

‘Sunfield’ is the perfect end-to-the-summer track (although it suddenly got really hot again here in the UK so this tune is going down right nice!) with big grooving analog basses and intricate synth leads dominating the proceedings. SaiR gets his Jazz-Funk musicality going here and adds a touch of freestyle to this laid back Nu-Disco monster.

Rex The Dog teams up with Kris Menace

rex

Y’know, I wouldn’t have immediate paired Rex The Dog and Kris Menace together, but after hearing their new joint single, ‘Pow!’, the resultant tune is as natural as it is massive sounding. A meeting in the middle between their two sounds.

Rex’s ‘Casio Mix’, however is pure Rex. Analog Electro Disco as only Rex does best and the riff from ‘Pow!’ is perfectly suited to a pure Rex remix, you can tell he had a lot of fun with this track, you know how he loves to be surrounded with analog synths just jamming. After hearing the whole EP this reMix is the real stand out track for me.

More from 80s Stallone

cliffhanger

More soundtracking to the greatest movie Sylvester never made from 80s Stallone.

If only the original move had a soundtrack so sweet! 80’s Stallone is in full retro synth mode here with a selection of bright chords and infections riffs. You can imagine Mr. Stallone sitting in a studio with a movie playing, Jan Hammer style, whilst writing as the track has a real narrative feel to it. Just not sure Cliffhanger would have been that move, more excellent SynthWave from 80’s Stallone nonetheless.

Alan Braxe reMixes Ford & Lopatin

Ford & Lopatin

There’s something for every mood with Alan Braxe’s reMix of Ford & Lopatin’s ‘To Much MIDI (Please Forgive Me)’. Literally. He reMixed it twice, one stormer and one for chilling.

Braxe’s main mix is a full on French Touch juggernaut with a really nice euphoric and otherworldly undercurrent that kinda’ zones you out and takes you away when listening to it. The bonus reMix is a stark contract though, and downtempo synth peice, a dreamlike, atmospheric, slowed down Disco peice.

A-Track reMixes The Rapture

therapture

If you have at all being paying attention you’ll know by now that dance-punk guys The Rapture are back, despite being on DFA I was never really on-board with them the first time round. Sure, they had some good tunes, but noting really inspired me.

What does inspire me, however, is A-Trak’s knack of writing killer basslines and catchy hooks, as he does in this dub of The Rapture’s current hype inducing single ‘How Deep Is Your Love?’, which he’s dedicated to the memory of DJ Mehdi. In his own words: “I did this remix over the summer, and when I was close to finishing it I played it to my friend, the irreplaceable DJ Mehdi. We often played each other our productions for feedback. As it turns out he and Riton were visiting New York so they stopped by my apartment. I was working on the main version of the remix, the vocal version. I knew I would make a few alternate edits during the mixdown. The funny thing was, Mehdi’s favorite part was the ending! He and Riton suggested that I have that part come in earlier. My reaction was: that would work well for the dub version. And sure enough, when I finished mixing it down I made a dub with their suggestion. When I sent it to Mehdi shortly after, he responded (as a joke) that I should call it “Dub For Mehdi”. He included it in his “Tunisian Summer” mix. And then, as we all know, the unimaginable happened and we lost our dear friend. The least I can do now is name the edit after him. This one’s for you, Memed.”

Lazerhawk reMixed by Jordan F

lazerhawk

Oh man, how can you go wrong with this? Synthwave genius Lazerhawk reMixed by one of Australia’s finest up-and-coming producers Jordan F.

Lazerhawk is gearing up to the release of his new EP on 2 Many Printers and Rosso Corsa Records and amongst the reMix talent involved Jordan F conjures up this upbeat slice of night-drive Electro. Rapid fire with a bouncy bassline Jordan, this track is seriously driven, the thing just powers on. Jordan F proved on his last EP that he’s got his game locked down, and his reMixes are doing nothing to dispel that.

Silenx’s new track

Silenx

I get excited every time I see Silenx has a new track out!

‘Long Lost Love’ is a storming track form the Portuguese synthesizer wizard and is loaded with all the best elements you’d expect from the man. A deep pulsating bassline and crystal clear leads run the highs and lows of the track leaving the rest to be filled with huge ‘80’s sounding chords. Silenx always captures an atmosphere if anticipation, a feeling in the air that something amazing is about to happen. Life would be so much better soundtracked by Silenx!

Also, cowbell.
