Walter Sobcek’s take on Keren Ann

The awesome multi-national production outfit Walter Sobcek inject themselves back into our ears this week with this reMix of Israeli singer/songwriter Keren Ann’s ‘My Name Is Trouble’.

Giving the original a retro synth covering they take a quaint little tune and turn it into a laid back summer jam extreme. The vocal sounds amazing with the Sobcek treatment and the guys seem to be revelling in the Rock elements of the song to make an epic 80’s killer tune.

Keren Ann – My Name Is Trouble (Walter Sobcek reMix)

Hopefully Walter Sobcek’s new EP won’t be far behind.

Moonlight Matters reMixes Alex Winston

The latest reMix from Moonlight Matters is this version of Alex Winston’s new single ‘Sister Wife’.

Bringing some deep funkin’ analog bass to the table Moonlight Matters mix injects the track with some cool Disco ElectroPop first heard on Aeroplanes’ April mixtape. I’m really digging how Alex’s unique vocals, with the kind of otherworldliness found on The Knife records, sit over the raw synth work here. Love the steel drums too!

Benny Benassi released a new single at the end of April as a precursor to his new album ‘Electroman’.

‘Cinema’ features the vocals of  Gary Go, who we recently heard on Monsieur Adi’s ‘Last Stand’. It’s a big room club ElectroPop track with a  cool virtual reality themed clip.

Strange Talk’s ‘Eskimo Boy’ video

This is the brand new video for Strange Talk’s ‘Eskimo Boy’. The track is taken from their awesome self-titled EP.

Director Garth Badger turns the soft-focus summery vibe up to eleven with a group of paradise castaways, a look that goes really well with Strange Talk’s brand of Indie-ElectroPop.

Joypopp release début EP on Binary

Yesterday saw the release of Joypopp’s début EP, ‘Ecstatic’, on Binary Records.

It’s an EP bursting at the seems with four original tracks and three reMixes. We’ve already covered two of the original tunes on the EP, ‘Desire’ and ‘Volupté’, both of which really whet our appetite for more Joypopp. ‘Nostalgic’ and ‘Six To Six’ are more of the same top quality analog ElectroPop from the French duo. With their big Sci-Fi soundtrack synths and sweet female vocals, the Joypopp combination is defiantly a winner. ReMixes on the EP come courtesy of Night Drugs and these two from Girlfriend Records head honcho Sferro and Binary’s RoboPop™ main man Short Circuit. Sferro turns in a suitably retro slice of ElectroPop with a laidback groove, deep bass and awesome 80’s melodies. Short Curcuit’s reMix takes the track in the opposite direction, it’s a heavy mid-tempo club track that sees SC moving towed an almost Justice mix of rock riff-esq chainsaw synths and Disco drums.

Even more Futurecop! ‘Starworshipper’ reMixes

It has been suggested to me that I was less than complete with my selection of entries in Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ reMix contest, so let’s put that right!

Sarah from Holographic People rightly pointed out to me that the Young Digerati mix easily deserved recognition. And she’s so right, I don’t know how I left it out, if you go and look at the SoundCloud page for the track you’ll see me raving about it when it was first released so how I forgot it I don’t know. Mind like a sieve! It’s an amazing piece of work that just proves Young Digerati are on their way ‘up’!

Commenter Larry sent me in the direction of the second reMix here, by Lenno, who is a just 16! Seriously! Which kinda’ blows my mind. I hadn’t heard this mix before and I am so glad I have now. This slick Dreamwavey mix will defiantly have me checking out more of Lenno’s stuff.

A new tune from Alpha Boy

Mr. Alpha Boy has dropped off his new tune, and it doesn’t disappoint in an 80’s way.

‘Walking On Light’ sees the German producer getting orchestral and epic atop his retro synth patterns. Adding a baroque touch to his music with strings and harpsichord takes the track to a new dimension that gives an otherworldly feel to the 80’s influenced synth work. Still, Alpha Boy keeps up the energy with a full-on 80’s Pop Electro rhythm section which nicely juxtaposes with the rest of the instrumentation.

Torpedo

OK, this is a bit of an odd one for us, Torpedo class themselves as “Krautrock influenced…Electronic Alternative Rock”, which would normally make me run a mile (or delete the email immediate) but I gave it a listen, and it;s really grown on me.

I have no idea what their other tracks sound like but never would I have described ‘Islands In Eternity’ as “Electronic Alternative Rock”. There’s a definite Krautrock” influence going on but there’s very little Rock in this (thankfully!). What it actually is, is a cosmic, almost Proggy, electronic track that…actually, no, I see their point, it is pretty hard to describe. Suffice to say that of you like synthesizers and a big epic feel to your music you should give this a listen. ReMixes come from, amongst others, Wahlström & Valiant who turn the track into a big room Electro-House tune laden with ‘wohoop’ sounds and giant stabs!

It surprised me how much I likes this track, but I did, check it:
