Cavaliers Of Fun

CavaliersOfFun

UK based Ricco Vitali A.K.A. Cavaliers Of Fun has been getting quite a bit of hype on the more discerning blogs this week, and well deserved too as he takes on Dreamwave from a slightly left-field position.

Mixing up elements of Dreamwave, Space-Synth and Chiptune, ‘Midnight Resistance’ is a kinda’ ‘what if’ Jean-Michel Jarre was a C64 obsessive who started hanging out with College and the Valerie crew. Are you comfortable with that? Well you won’t be expecting ‘Secret Galaxies’ then, which suddenly swings Cavaliers Of Fun over to the Van She side of Indie-Electro.

Varied, crazy cool, and…well…fun!

Barretso

Barretso

The dudes over at Trashbags ‘ave only gone and started their own record label, ‘aven’t they?!?!

Tuff Em Up’s first release will be by Chilean synth noodler Barretso and it should be pretty amazing judging by this taster here. ‘Midnight Walk’ will be featured on the ‘Bright City Lights’ EP and is almost perfectly crafted Dreamwave (If you want to call it that), washes of retro synths and arpeggiated basslines and just a hint of soaring lead all wrapped up in a smooth mix.

Pure class.

While you’re waiting for the EP, go give him some MySpace love:

Chromeo; Bubblegum Sci-Fi reMix

Chromeo

I love Chromeo’s ‘Night By Night’. I’ve also loved most of the reMixes of it.

I also loved Bubblegum Sci-Fi’s reMix of Passion Pit’s ‘The Reeling’.

So, Bubblegum Sci-Fi remixing ‘Night By Night’ is pretty much a no-brainer!

Huge buzzsaw synths pump through this sweet robodisco floorfiller. I’m really diggin’ what he’s done to the chorus, the stuttering lead line seems to give the vocals a different rhythm.

Get Stellar

GetStellar

What is it with Australians and Indie-Disco? The whole country seems like a music factory!

Next up is Get Stellar, hailing from Adelaide this duo have just dropped their first EP, ‘This Moment’, which features reMixes from the likes of G.L.O.V.E.S., Def Starr and Nick Supply.

The track itself is a infectious bassline fuelled Nu-Disco stormer that get’s taken to the next Disco level by reMixer extraordinaire G.L.O.V.E.S. who drops string and stabs all over the place. Def Starr’s reMix is slightly more chilled with a summery clubby vibe.

Boys Noize reMix Editors

Editors

Editors forthcoming single ‘You Don’t Know Love’ will feature a reMix by, none other than,  Boys Noize and has débuted on Studio Brussel.

I never really got into Editors but this reMix will have me purchasing the single. With it’s vocodered vocals it builds and builds into a climax that is sure to drive the dancefloor mental.

The Revenge

TheRevenge

I was turned onto The Revenge over at Big Stereo, I don’t usually go for Prog House all that much but these two tracks just really appealed to me for two very different reasons.

The first track, ‘Forever In Their Debt’, had me hooked instantly just with it’s choice of bass sound. That rounded, slightly acidy, square wave bass reminds me so much of the good ol’ days of Beep House when early Warp Records releases were tearing up the floor. In fact, the whole tune has got that vibe. The second slice is a cover of S.O.S. Band’s ‘Just Be Good To Me’ featuring Danielle Moore from Crazy P on vocal duties, I can’t help it, I’ve loved the song ever since Beats International’s ‘Dub Be Good To Me’. Ah…Lindy Layton…

SebastiAn for 2010

SebastiAn

Hey, it’s been quite a week it’s been for new tracks from established acts who’ve been away far too long! A new track from French Electro master SebastiAn has surfaced, originally featured on an  Ed Banger Records promo sampler featuring some of the labels forthcoming releases.

I was debating posting the tune ‘cos a) its all over the music blogosphere anyway and b) it’s a funny one. Clocking in at just over 13 minutes, it’s only around the 11m18s mark that the good old SebastiAn we know and love drops and shit goes crazy. the preceding 11 minutes are a slow chaotic build. Strings, distorted synths and white noise meld together for so long it that waiting for it to kick in becomes almost unbearable.

But when it does…SebastiAn is back!

SebastiAn – Threnody (zShare) (MediaFire)

Anyway, the track, even the intro, has grown on me and I’m now pretty exited about the album release later this year. Ed Banger have got some good shit coming out in the coming months!

New material from The Knife!

The Knife.

We’ve been keeping an eye on SoundCloud all morning since they announced on their Twitter feed that The Knife would be débuting new material via their service sometime this week, and here it is.

The Swedish Experimental ElectroPoppers were commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to compose the music for an opera based on Charles Darwin and his work ‘On The Origin Of Species’ and in a The Knife first they decided to collaborate with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock to “to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme”

‘Colouring Of Pigeons’ is a strange and intoxicating beast, undeniably The Knife (especially when Karin’s trademark vocals kick in) but the operatic feel to it gives it a life all of it’s own. Give it a few listens, it gets under your skin (in the best of ways), which, I suppose, makes it classic The Knife!

The studio version of the opera, ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’ will be released on Rabid Records on1st March.

New Danger track!

Danger02

Kicking off with spooky (yet X-Massy!) chimes before dropping a huge synth bass this new Danger tune that surfaced on Seek Sick Sound builds into an immense cinematic banger.

Not sure where the tune is from, fingers crossed it’s from a forthcoming new EP! Wherever it originates, it’s a welcome return from Danger:
