MNDR releases ‘Fade to Black’ 7”

mndr

‘Fade to Black’ was actually the first MNDR track I heard, way back when it was part of the ’E.P.E’ EP, it was the track that really got me into this New York ElectroPop duo.

Great news for us in the UK then, as ‘Fade to Black’ is being released as a double A-side with fellow ‘E.P.E.’ track ‘I Go Away’ on limited edition 7” via Trouble Records.

Despite most of the UK knowing Amanda Warner’s unique vocals from Mark Ronson’s storming ‘Bang Bang Bang’ her voice seems much more suited to her raw SynthPop. MNDR’s music is stripped down enough to be Minimal Synth but catchy and funky enough to be DiscoPop, weird huh? But it really works. If you didn’t like the Ronson track (and if you didn’t you need help!) don’t write off MNDR, ‘cos their own material is some of the best SynthPop being produced right now. Just check out the anthemic ‘Fade to Black’:

Shook reMixes M.I.A.

Dutch Disco producer Shook recently reMixed M.I.A.’s ‘Internet Connection’.

Shook brings some really nice cut-up Nu-Disco to the table as he drops awesome synth bass solos and Funk riffs. With some wicked key tinkling and nice Funk-Pop sensibilities it’s no wonder this track took The Hype Machine by storm.

Shook’s ‘Glow’ EP is out now and can be picked up here, ‘Internet Connection’ is taken from M.I.A.’s ‘/\/\ /\ Y /\’ album:

Diamond Cut reMix Super Mal

Electro-House production team Super Mal are pimping their recent ‘Rock The Night’ EP even more by giving away this reMix by the ever awesome Diamond Cut.

You just have to love Diamond Cut’s productions. Just like a well cut diamond that are flawless. This is pure Nu-Disco/ElectroPop/Dreamwave brilliance with the energy and emotion of the best of them. Pule raising basslines sit effortlessly in the mix with shimmering retro synth chords to make this a real slice of euphoric modern nostalgia.

Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’ HMI Redux

Out this week is a brand new version of SynthPop legends Erasure’s classic ‘A Little Respect’.

Originally from their ‘The Innocents’ album this new version sees all the proceeds from sale going to The Hetrick-Martin Institute, a LGBTQ youth service organization. In their own words “In the wake of all the gay bullying and related suicides that have been reported in the US over the past several months, Erasure wanted to do something special to spread a message of tolerance and to raise money for an organisation that engages in the fight on a daily basis and, because it has become something of a gay rights anthem over the years, it seemed only fitting to release a brand new version of ‘A Little Respect’.”

The ‘HMI Redux’ is a nice update to the original. In keeping with modern production methods its a lot fuller sounding, and just as damn catchy!

Black Strobe re-release ‘Me And Madonna’

Remember Black Strobe’s ElectroClash classic ‘Me And Madonna’?

Well, Kitsuné Music have re-released that bad boy and backed it up with some brand new reMixes from The Twelves, Jolie Cherie, Tape To Tape and Grand Crüe.

Grand Crüe get gritty and dirty with the track which keeps it’s sleazy vibe but gets some added grimy synths. Acid growling meets ElectroClash hypnotics in this late night/early morning reMix.

Mustang gets funky with Ali Love

Ali Love drops the new single from his awesome ‘Love Harder’ album this coming January.

When ‘Moscow Girl’ comes out on Back Yard Recordings it’ll be backed up with a reMix package featuring Lee Foss, Jaques Renault and  Mustang, who in keeping with todays Old School flavour so-far turns in this early 80’s Electro-Funk sounding mix. It’s top stuff!

Mercedes – Airwave Hustler

What’s all this then? Mercedes isn’t the sort of think you’d normally expect to find on electronic rumors (although we have expressed our love of old school Hip Hop many times int he past) but I’m just really digging this track.

I wasn’t so taken with her previous offering ‘Shock Absorber’ but this tune is so unashamedly old school you can help but get into it.

Here’s the video, directed by Mark Stonfire & Mercedes

‘Airwave Hustler’ is out soon on Eye Industries.

Brand new Ride The Universe reMix of Panda People

Been kickin’ back and waiting for this one for a while, turns out it was worth the wait!

Nicky Savage‘s band of LA based Dreamwavers Fiero, have teamed up with Nu-Disco producer digitalfoxglove to form the almighty, trans-Atlantic, Ride The Universe and their first offering for you is a reMix of German DiscoPop band Panda People’s ‘Sophisticated Girl’. I’ve been diggin’ Panda People ever since Nicky turned me onto them a while back but this reMix just ups the ante with some seriously huge analog bass and the sweetest pads this side of the 80’s. These guys are adding a little Funk into the Dreamwave sound and with reMixes of Fenech-Soler and the crazy exiting Futurecop! & Keenhouse collaboration in the works, this is defiantly a gang to keep an eye on.

Daft Punk Vs. Quorra on the game grid!

So, this is the official music video for Daft Punk’s ‘Derezzed’ from their Tron: Legacy soundtrack.

And I love it, it’s quite a nice little prequel to the movie, the style and graphics being part original Tron and part Tron: Legacy, It’s obviously set inbetween movies. The plot seems to feature Olivia Wilde’s character, Quorra, while she was still a player on the game grid.

If you’re going to make a movie tie-in video having both a nice little tie in plot and loads of homagé to the original Tron is a good way to go.

Tron: Legacy hit cinemas 17th December, not long now! Who gonna’ be there opening day?
