[Audio] Strangers’ ‘Wolf At The Door’

strangers

Big beats and moody warbles up now with the new single from UK SynthPop heroes Strangers. Still riding high on the success of their Close EP and a whole heap of acclaimed track last year, the guys unleash their new tune, Wolf At The Door, already set to do bit things when it is released this summer.

Wolf At The Door injects a little groove into Strangers optimistic melancholy (yes, that’s a thing). A swirl of heady synths set to a huge beat with a head nodding swing, this new single grabs you by the ears and doesn’t let go until it’s done. Epic electronics, energy and emotion (the three E’s!) fill every second of Wolf At The Door as it delivers good stuff for your feet, head and heart. Why aren’t Strangers dead famous yet?

London SynthPopper Christianoshi’s single Trust, is getting a massive re-release. Originally out in 2012, the new soaped up version of the Erasure-esque track comes with a reMix from Friends and Christianoshi’s first video.

Directed by Mikko Makela, the clip is all kinds of gay, and all kinds of druggy. I think it might have been Christianoshi’s birthday.

[Audio] Colleagues’ ‘Tears’

Colleagues

I should make it absolutely clear tha Sweedish outfit Colleagues aren’t actually my colleagues. I’m nit sure whose colleagues they are, I would presume their won. With actually makes them the most literally named band since 2 Men, A Drum Machine And A Trumpet. I guess they could be called Five Sweedish Colleagues Who Work Together In A SynthPop Band, but that’s a bit of a mouthful.

On to the track! Tears is their second single, and it’s a euphoric four minutes of bliss that takes a The Sound Of Arrows deep ScandiPop sound and gives it an Indie-Electro twist. The synths are all damned chipper and the vocals all heartfelt and earnest. It’d be pretty hard to be in a bad mood with this blaring out of your speakers, dishing out audio candy to everyone in sight.

[Download] Pet Shop Boys’ ‘It’s Alright’ reMixed by Dusty Digital

pet-shop-boys

Some classic House sounds right here from Boston producer Dusty Digital as he sets to work turning-in this retro dancefloor version of SynthPop legends Pet Shop BoysIt’s Alright. He’s morphed the anthemic Pop of the original into a glossy, seven minute, warehouse epic that just keeps on going and going, building and building.

Serving up heavy beats and a thick, Italo-esque bassline, alongside an infectious Piano hook. Dusty Digital creates an authentic early 90s House Pop sound which feels in-keeping with the song (which saw a 1989 release). Once he;’s let the original song play itself out, however, Dust then descend into a total synthesizer freak out, a cosmic voyage through soaring solos, all still set to the Chicago House style backing. It’s a track of two halves, both of them awesome.

This is the second video from the new Sarah Blackwood-less Client. As far as we’re concerned the jury is still out, but we’re pleasantly surprised. Refuge is all rampaging arpeggios and Ladytron-esque folky vocals from new Bristolian Client Nicole Thomas (and having a Bristolian Client is pretty awesome) delivering sweeping Pop choruses. A good start.

Carlo Roberti directed the enigmatic clip, with a nice muted colour pallet and tons of drama.

Client’s new album, Authority, is out 21st March.

Ekkoes have kinda’ grown up with us, and us with them. having featured on or  electronic rumors Volume 1 compilation and played the launch party we consider them extended fam. A lots happen to one of the UK’s finest SynthPop outfit in the past year, signing to Wall Of Sound, line up changes and now a name change from Echoes to Ekkoes (which we think is probably a good move, make them more searchable).

To kick off the new name the trio have covered Lorde’s Team is massive style. We’re pleased to be able to bring you the first look at the video for the track (which is available as a free download). The sons sounds massive in these guys talented hands, check out Ekkoes in all their performance glory right here.

Here’s something a little different from French Indie-SynthWavers Midnight Echoes for their track Fight The Vice; a euphoric slice of continental SynthPop

Whereas the SynthWave tradition of cutting and editing videos from 80s Movies and TV shows is starting to get unoriginal and played out, Midnight Echoes go one further and film their own version of a slick Miami Vice-esque action flick.

Labyrinth Ear

Taken from their forthcoming album, The Orchid Room, Crescent Moon is a new taste of what to expect from London ecclectic ElectroPop duo Labyrinth Ear’s début full-length record. The twosome have been steadily making waves over the last couple of years, delivering EPs of dreamy, swirling, experimental SynthPop sounds, leaving this album quite highly anticipated.

Crescent Moon is an ethereal SynthPop track that had collided head on with a Balearic sunrise House tune. Ominous, but somehow cheerful, synth bass booms it’s way through the track, providing a darkness to Emily’s light vocals. A magical tune, flowing with mysteries and dreams, but one that is also grounded enough for you to get down to on the dancefloor. It bodes well for the album.
