[Download] Mitch Murder’s ‘Just ‘Til Midnight’

Mitch Murder

Amazing! Two new tracks from Swedish SynthWave master Mitch Murder in a week! First Mr. Murder spread a little X-Mas cheer with the smooth Don’t Let Me Spend Christmas Alone, and now here a brand new vocal track (we love it when Mitch Murder does vocal tracks). This time he’s hooked up with Australian singer Miranda Carey for some full on retro ElectroPop madness. It’s a free download too.

In total contest to Mitch’s R&B X-mas croon, Just ‘Till Midnight is what Mitch Murder does best. Pure, authentic, 80s music. In this case bouncy soul Pop. And it’s pretty stunning too. From the opening drum pattern, the track oozes retro cool, even before Carey’s awesomely fitting vocal kicks in the lush, stabbing synths are doing the job of reeling you in. This one’s got it all, catch old school Pop vocals, vintage synths chirping away, a hint of Italo in the digital bass and an end result that is big, catchy and the pinnacle of retro Pop.

[Download] Back Back Forward Punch’s ‘Emergency Bow Tie’ (+ MiGHty mOUse reMix)

Back Back Forward Punch

Australian ElectroPop duo Back Back Forward Punch are about ready for the big time. They’ve been generating a buzz for a few months now and their new single will only gain them more positive attention. Emergency Bow Tie, is their latest release, their third this year, and come equipped with a host of amazing reMixes including one from London’s Cosmic Disco king, MiGHty mOUse.

Emergency Bow Tie is a sumptuous four minutes of vocoder heavy Pop. As soon as it’s rubbery bassline blesses and VL-Tone purcussion hits your speakers it’s a fun ride. Delivering robo vox in the verses and a rousing female sung chorus, set against a sea of synth music that’s just retro enough to be hip, and just modern enough to sound slick, Emergency Bow Tie washes you with it’s warming electronic mood and it’s sense of wit. It’s top quality futuristic Pop that becomes a slinky grooved Disco beat in MiGHty mOUse’s safe hands. Mixing up some of his trademark galactic sounds with a heavy, heavy, dancefloor groove, the mOUse teases every ounce of Funk out of the track and turns in a robust crate secret weapon. The single, which is a free download, also boasts mixes from Pigeon, and Sun City. It’s definitely worth your attention.

[Audio] Jolie Chérie’s ‘One, Two, Three’

Jolie Chérie

Time for some bass heavy French ElectroPop right now from Parisian trio Jolie Chérie. Their new single, One, Two, Three, see a slightly more brooding sound than we are used to from this lot, but the end result is more compelling and involving and something you can really get your teeth into.

Just listen to that all-encompassing synth bass. It’s like a hypnotic monster that seems to suck you in. The track is densely layered with electronic swoops and lead lines that create an almost wall-of-sound atmosphere, but while keeping things melodic. Melina Duval’s husky vocal delivery lend the track an air of mystery and a kind of gentleness to contest the raw synth work. Jolie Chérie are fast on their way to becoming the new starts of French SynthPop.

[Audio] Com Truise reMixes Flight Facilities’ ‘Stand Still’

flight-facilities

A couple of weeks ago we introduced you to the new single from Australian Indie-Disco aviators Flight Facilities. The Micky Green featuring Stand Still made quite a few waves online, but our attention was focused on the fact that at the same time a Com Truise reMix was announced. This kind of thing is exciting to us. Well, here it is, in all it’s enigmatic synth glory.

The Indie-Electro leading original is completely contrasted by this reMix. Com get’s his dark and moody SynthWave on here, which, weirdly (considering the original) works amazingly well with the vocals. The Truise take on the track is driven by a gruelling Synth bassline set amongst atmospheric and evocative layers of electronic sound. It’s the usual, amazing, Dark Future soundtrack vibes from Truise. And a track with proves a little injection of sweet female vocals into that equation does no harm whatsoever. This is one of those tunes that demands repeated listenings.

[Download] Keljet reMixes Goldroom’s ‘Embrace’

goldroom2

Ooo cheeky! You may recall we had all but promised that we had closed the door on featuring more reMixes of Goldroom’s blissful Embrace. Then Dutch Disco duo Keljet come along with this bad boy and despite out better judgement we can’t help but feature it. Keljet are on such a roll right now, storming track after track and really making a name for themselves. A well deserved name too, and a reputation this reMix does nothing to quash.

Keljet bring the hypnotic House vibes to the track this time around. it;s a well established science fact these days that Embrace has got an awesome vocal, and in the right hand it can be an amazing thing. Keljet’s hands are up to the job as they weave the vocal in and out of a slightly Tropical, pumping, tune that’s not exactly laid back, but not exactly upbeat either, just a nice groovy middle ground. Totally intoxicating.

[Video] Daft Punk’s ‘Instant Crush’

Daft Punk Instant Crush ft. Julian Casablancas YouTube

Here’s the second video from Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, an album that was to have no music videos made from it. It’s for the Julian Casablancas featuring Instant Crush. Maybe because Daft Punk aren’t actually in it, that’s what they meant by ‘we aren’t making any videos’?

The video is actually quite good, a tale of waxwork love and ridiculous posers with fingers. Warren Fu directs, in a brave 4:3 ratio.

[Download] Freak You & Bright Light Bright Light’s ‘There You Are’

Freak You & Bright Light Bright

There You Are is the latest tune from French producer and On The Fruit Records shot-caller Freak You. This lush ElectroPop opus boasts a whole host of amazing collaborative names. Not only was a touch of production wizardry lent by Mr. James Yuill, but vocal duties on the this track are carried out by none other than Bright Light Bright Light. Can it be anything other than amazing?

With a slight dusting of House, and an even subtler dusting of Tropical sounds, There You Are is a deep, warm and mesmerising ElectroPop tune with enough dancefloor funky to be considered Disco-y but Poppy enough to storm the charts. Rod’s vocals are simple but very effective, choosing to opt for a hypnotic refrain while Franck delivers on the promise of full beats, body shaking basslines and big emotional rushes in all the right places. Intelligent SynthPop at it’s finest, not pandering to any trend, just serving up quality.
