Diamond Rings reMixes Austra

It’s team Toronto verses team Toronto as Canadian SynthPop trio Austra are given the reMix treatment by the flamboyant Mr. Diamond Rings.

The track is part two of a six-part weekly series of Diamond Rings reMixes called ‘Rainbow reMix’ in anticipation of the Astralwerks re-release of his ‘Special Affections’ album. DR takes the track and gives it a solid ElectroPop going over, with retro beats and chainsaw guitar synth, before bringing it down with a chilled piano outro.

Is Tropical’s video for ‘The Greeks’

Is Tropical’s ‘The Greeks’ get itself a video, and what a video.

Directed by Megaforce the video depicts what I expect ‘nam was like, really! Actually, I’m pretty sure playing army when I was a kid really looked like this! I get the feeling that there may be some kind of social commentary in there somewhere but I just it looks cool.

Is Tropical’s début album ‘Native To’ is released on 13th June on Kitsuné Music.

‘Russian Lights’ rocks more of a Chillwave vibe than previous tunes with he duo putting all their Shoegazing influences into play here. Still backed up by layers of cosmic synths. The Sanfernando Sound reMixes Starlings

This track kicks off like a THX test!

Manc Electro producer The Sanfernando Sound has turned his attention to Sheffield Indie-Electro hype targets Starlings for their new single, ‘Sirens’ released today. You know what I though when I first heard this track?, it sounds like a heavier Erasure. Of course the Starlings’ singer has something of an Andy Bell quality about him but the music isn’t too far from the more DiscoPop end of Erasure, sure the drums and bassline are more dancefloor oriented but it really retains a mid-80s feel. More good stuff from The Sanfernando Sound!

New Strange Talk reMixes from Vanguard and Lightwaves

We have a couple of new reMixes from Australian Indie-Electropoppers Strange Talk’s awesome self-titled EP. Both of the track ‘Eskimo Boy’

First up is an absolutely killer Nu-Disco mix from Welsh duo Vanguard. Their storming version has a ton of funk and enough thick synth work and filtering to keep anyone happy. This is probably my track for the weekend! Meanwhile, Yes Giantess frontman Jan Rosenfeld’s Lightwaves moniker turns in a sweet, soaring, Dreamwavey. Both mixes really compliment an already rad track.

New music from Baby Monster

It’s been quite a while since we heard anything from the Baby Monster camp, but they are back with news of their début album.

Slated for a June, release the La based duo’s album is a pretty long awaited affair. Their previous singles ‘Ultra Violence and Beethoven’ and ’She Comes Alive’ gained them quite an online following but then things seemed to go silent. However ‘The Fear Of Charlie Sunrise’, a taste of what to expect from the long-player, shows the guys haven’t just been sitting around. It’s a beautiful piece of Indie-Electro, crazy with lush layers of synths and emotive vocals. We’re really looking forward to this album ‘round here!

Cassian reMixes PNAU’s new single

‘Solid Ground’ is the next single from PNAU’s forthcoming album ‘Soft Universe’ and gets the reMix treatment from Housemaister Cassian.

Cassian lay on the Sci-Fi Disco thick with this reMix, full of laser gun electro toms and raging Moog basslines. Elevating the vocal track to levels of pure funk euphoria Cassian had dropped a killer this time!

Ladytron’s new single, ‘White Elephant’

In advance of their eagerly awaited new album, ‘Gravity The Seducer’, ElectroPop legends Ladytron are releasing a new single, ‘White Elephant’.

More chilled and reverb heavy than their recent offerings, ‘White Elephant’ is probably a good representation of the new album which the band promised was going to be “more ethereal and melodic, a touch more abstract in places”. Retaining the trademark Ladytron bombast mixed with introspection the new single makes me wonder how much of an influence Ladytron were to the Chillwavers of this world, certainly the new album will probably go down a storm with them, and with anyone else who likes their ElectroPop intelligent, thoughtful and melodic.
