[Audio] Dubka’s ‘Deathwish’ & ‘Eumenides’

Dubka

We got our first taste of Martin Dubka’s début solo single last week with the video for Deathwish. The single has been pretty eagerly awaited round these parts, the man’s production flair for the likes of Tyson, Tesla Boy and Ali Love, alongside a swathe of reMixes and collaborations have all made it right to the top of our playlists. Also, he’s the subject of the the best Future Music In The Studio With… ever (so nice to hear someone actually talking about composition, as opposed to the latest hot DJ chatting about Ableton plug-ins and then looking nervous when someone asks what Key the track is in)

Both Deathwish and it’s B-side, Eumenides, are deeper than deep hypnotic House jams. The former greets you from the offset with a mantra-of-a-bassline and a stripped back Deep House flavour. The vocal chant echoes round a track that perfectly captures the warehouse vibe. Strobe lights and peeps lost in the music. The enigmatic dance vibe is carried over int o the B-side. Eumenides works an enthralling bassline of it’s own, digging deep into robotic grooves with punchy synths that are tempered with a starlight melody. These two from Dubka are aimed squarely at late night dancefloors.

nine-lives1

Manchester groover Nine Lives is gearing up for the release of his new single. The Nu-Disco producer is soon to unleashed Adagio, on Vendition Records; due out next month. If you want to start you week with the best on Nu-Disco and Boogie then you’ve come to the right place, Nine Lives delivers both in heaps. Check it out.

An utterly smooth grove, Adagio eases you into it’s flow with a punchy bassline, boarding on Italo and smokey keys. The tune is guided by a warm and soulful vocal, who’s hazy sound contests nicely with the tight synthetic Boogie. A carefree summery tune, this is one of those tracks that makes the world suddenly go into soft-focus. Beats like silk.

[Download] Joakim’s ‘On The Beach’

Joakim

Tigersushi boss and French electronic master Joakim has unleashed the first single from his forthcoming new album. The album’s called Tropics Of Love and is due out later in the year, before that comes On The Beach at the end of this month and will featured reMixes from CFCF and Principles of Geometry. The track is, in fact, a cover of a 1974 Neil Young track and shows off just what an ecclectic talent Joakim is.

With a moody and darker mood that we would be used to from Joakim, On The Beach is a smokey synthetic ballad. Pulsating apreggios seem to fade in and out of focus against a hazy of purcussion and haunting tones. Joakim’s modulated vocals whisper a robot’s lament against this dreamlike opus of synthetic Blues. Stick around for the saxophone solo!

Joakim’s On The Beach is released 31st March.

[Audio] Plastic Plates’ ‘Nothing Like You’

plastic-plates

Hot on the heels of his collaboration with Sam Sparro, here’s Felix Bloxsom, better known as Plastic Plates’ new single. Getting it;s long awaited release at the end of the week on Sweat It Out!’s Club sweat imprint, Nothing Like You serves up five minutes of feel-good party sounds to kick you into the summer.

Slickly spreading some punchy Nu-Disco keys over a rock solid House beat, Felix brings the irresistible dance vibes to your speakers with this one. A chopped-up, soulful, vocal sample neatly ties the track together while warping synths bubble in and out of focus, allowing the track to ebb and flow with them. All underpinned with a stuttering funky bassline, Nothing Like You is a dancefloor workhorse that’s guaranteed to keep ‘em happy every-time.

[Download] Amtrac’s ‘Don’t Know’

Amtrac

Kentucky based producer Amtrac is back with a storming new tune which nicely combines everything that you imagine might be good about the current crop of American dance music (no, I’m not going to say ‘it’) and applies it to some neat European House sounds, resulting in something that’s as euphoric as it is groove, and doesn’t piss all over the US’s deep electronic music heritage.

Enlisting the help if Posso on Don’t Know, Antrac drops a selection of popping electro Toms, House organ and a bassline that warps in and out of your mind over shuffling hats and a solid kick. The warehouse vocal snatches are just the icing on the cake for this summer festival monster. Acquire some dancing shoes, right now.

[Download] Pet Shop Boys’ ‘It’s Alright’ reMixed by Dusty Digital

pet-shop-boys

Some classic House sounds right here from Boston producer Dusty Digital as he sets to work turning-in this retro dancefloor version of SynthPop legends Pet Shop BoysIt’s Alright. He’s morphed the anthemic Pop of the original into a glossy, seven minute, warehouse epic that just keeps on going and going, building and building.

Serving up heavy beats and a thick, Italo-esque bassline, alongside an infectious Piano hook. Dusty Digital creates an authentic early 90s House Pop sound which feels in-keeping with the song (which saw a 1989 release). Once he;’s let the original song play itself out, however, Dust then descend into a total synthesizer freak out, a cosmic voyage through soaring solos, all still set to the Chicago House style backing. It’s a track of two halves, both of them awesome.

[Download] Pat Lok reMixes Mjolnir’s ‘Just A Boy’

mjolnir

Indonesian outfit Mjolnir’s new single Just A Boy was released this week on Jerry Bouthier’s Continental Records. We already posted the JBAG dub of the track. Now it’s time to check out what Canadian Housemeister Pat Lok has in store for the tune. It the mix we were most looking forward to hearing, Pat’s been on a roll recently, and he’s kept it going right here.

Taking the track deeper and groover than the JBAG’s version. Lok drops a warm summertime sound comprising a solid beat, and fidgety but utterly infectious subby bassline and layers of Tropical keys. The end result is somehow more laid back, yet more dancefloor destroying that the excellent original. That’s the magic of Pat Lok

[Audio] Rogue Vogue reMixes The Knocks & X Ambassadors’ ‘Comfortable’

the-knocks

New York DiscoPop duo The Knock’‘  collaboration, with fellow New Yorkian rising stars X Ambassadors, the blog destroying Comfortable, is about to become the subject of many a reMix. Getting in ahead of the pack is one of Chicago’s’ finest House exports, Rogue Vogue, who give the track an authentic 90s spin. Hold tight for the synth stabs!

Solid 909s from the offset, Rogue Vogue delivers his classic brand of House music on this reMix. Accentuated by the bounciest of basses and shimmering Sci-Fi keys, this reMix whips up a frenzy of strobe light vibes and an urban swing. Using the vocals relatively sparsely, Rogue Vogue unleashed another jam destined to pack dancefloors.

[Audio] Ben Macklin’s ‘Make Me Feel’ (+ Nude Disco reMix)

ben-macklin

Make Me Feel is the new single from Cassette Clubber Ben Macklin. Released this week the single features the vocal stylings of Rowan Arnold and comes equipped with reMixes from Tronik Youth, Nude Disco & Culture Culture. On your first listen you’ll instantly realise why Ben is one of our favourite British producers working right now. Check it out.

Neatly blending Tropical vibes and a slick retro SynthPop flavour, Make Me Feel is a nice mid-paced jam that would sit equally at home on by the poolside or on Top Of The Pops in 1986. With elements of Synth Soul, particularly in the bassline and vocals and an uplifting Island Disco chorus, it’s a track that will force a smile onto your face. Nude Disco ups the tempo a tad whist keeping the retro groove, injecting punchy snyths and an array sweeping club hooks. Covering everything from Italo to Nu-Disco via ElectroPop, the single package is strong as hell, you should definitely investigate.
