[Audio] Auxiliary Tha Masterfader’s ‘Dark Side Of Disco’ (+ Dubka reMix)

auxiliary-tha-masterfader

Hot on the heels of his last release, Disco Machine, Dutch analog Disco factory Auxiliary Tha Masterfader has just released his latest. Titled Dark Side Of Disco (judging by Aux’s past efforts and that title I’m sure you know what to expect!) the single is out now in Nein Records and features reMixes from Martin Dubka, Tronik Youth and Horse Meat Disco’s DJ Severino. Aux’s last release was a Cosmic fuelled slab of future Disco, but on this record he inject a sinister vibe into his synthesizer grooves. Check it out.

Six minutes of impending dancefloor doom. That’s what you get with Dark Side Of Disco. An Acid injected slab of Italo Disco that works the murmuring apreggios and sustained synth string to their creepy fullest. Building dancefloor tension with snapping 808 snares and a pulsating bassline until the break, Aux relieves some of the nervousness as the track launces back in with majestic leads to fill your head. Dubka goes full-on Acid Techno with his reMix. A track that could easily find it’s place on late 90s/early 2000’s dancefloors in dodgy London warehouses as Acid Techno took over the free party scene. An unrelenting juggernaut of squealing Acid riffs and thunderous drums all wrapped up in a mind-bending hypnotic groove. This is one to truly hammer yourself on the dancefloor to and just get lost.

[Audio] Dubka’s ‘Deathwish’ & ‘Eumenides’

Dubka

We got our first taste of Martin Dubka’s début solo single last week with the video for Deathwish. The single has been pretty eagerly awaited round these parts, the man’s production flair for the likes of Tyson, Tesla Boy and Ali Love, alongside a swathe of reMixes and collaborations have all made it right to the top of our playlists. Also, he’s the subject of the the best Future Music In The Studio With… ever (so nice to hear someone actually talking about composition, as opposed to the latest hot DJ chatting about Ableton plug-ins and then looking nervous when someone asks what Key the track is in)

Both Deathwish and it’s B-side, Eumenides, are deeper than deep hypnotic House jams. The former greets you from the offset with a mantra-of-a-bassline and a stripped back Deep House flavour. The vocal chant echoes round a track that perfectly captures the warehouse vibe. Strobe lights and peeps lost in the music. The enigmatic dance vibe is carried over int o the B-side. Eumenides works an enthralling bassline of it’s own, digging deep into robotic grooves with punchy synths that are tempered with a starlight melody. These two from Dubka are aimed squarely at late night dancefloors.

Michoacan’s ‘Disco Sucks so Good’ reMixes

Michoacan

Michoacan’s Disco Sucks So Good, or D.S.S.G was originally the B-side for his 2006 Lectroluv 12” Basshead. It seems the track made such an impression on those at Eskimo Recordings that six years later they are about to present the track, and a ton of remixes, fresh for 2012.

Disco Sucks So Good is a wicked crossover track Indie-Disco in a LCD Soundsystem or The Faint vein with an added injection of heavy Dub. A haunting raucous electronic workout that somehow manages to keep a groove while post-punk vocals wail over the top. The reMix package has been expertly chosen. Kasper Bjørke delivers our favourite as he holds on to the space Dub feel of the original, but mixed it deftly with some hypnotic Disco and Italo (maybe ‘Italo Dub’ is a thing after all?). Making Vito Areoplane’s monthly mix tape this month is Martin Dubka’s take on the track, who brings an explosive Moroder Disco style to the tune and takes the spaced-out Dub effects into Cosmic Funk territory. Also on the release you’ll find an Acid Funking mix from tiger Stripes.
