[Audio] Michael Cassette’s ‘Disco Frisco’

Michael Cassette

It’s been a long time since we heard anything from awesome Finnish producer Michael Cassette; the last time we can recall was his EP for Anjunadeep a couple of years ago. But out of nowhere this week, they announced their return with a brand new single released at the end of this month on the Digitally Remastered label. This is Disco Frisco.

Re-announcing himself with a massive big room tune was always going to be the way for Michael Cassette. Disco Frisco doesn’t really touch on Disco much. Instead it’s huge Progressive House tune with severe 80s leanings. It’s got all the requisite waves of lush synths and sparking little melodies all mixed up with a hint of SynthWave in it’s vintage aspects. A pounding beat and a breakdown in just the rights place make it ripe for peak time dancefloors. In short, it’s pretty slick stuff, and a welcome return for this retro-floorfiller.

[Audio] Cassian’s ‘Find Out’ & ‘Could I Do’

cassian

Released this week via Nurvous Records is the new double A-side single from the king of the Sydney scene Cassian. The man has been dropping a succession of badass EP’s recently such as the Love Cuts EP and the 8 Voices EP and now he’s ready to top it all off by teaming up with the New York label for two storming House tracks. Find Out and Could I Do.

Find Out is first up and hits the ground running. layering choppy synths over a skippy Garage beat. Bring in the subs and the droning pads and you’ve got some excitement building. When the track kicks in you;re treated to haunting samples and a nod to Chicago with a hammering piano hook. The whole thing is a tough, relentless floorfiller with nothing but the dancefloor on it’s mind. Could I Do is a slightly smoother affair. Slightly. Rolling on a big, robotic boom of a bassline, the track builds up a frantic, but strangely chilled, groove, before serving up Rave samples and breakbeats that come from nowhere to whip the tune into a frenzy. Two massive crowd pleasers right here!

[Audio] MiGHty mOUse reMixes Mason’s ‘Gotta’ Have You Back’

Cover

UK Disco don MiGHty mOUse is back in business with this tasty reMix of Mason’s Gotta’ Have You Back. The Dutch duo’s new single features vocal work from Hercules And Love Affair collaborator Rouge Mary and is itself a pounding Electro stormer with soul. Listen to MiGHty mOUse groove the track up right nice below while you marvel at just how much Mason enjoy their little cartoon monsters.

Given such a musically tough track to work with, MiGHty mOUse keeps some of that abrasive grind in his reMix. A departure from his typical spaced out Disco goodness, the man flexes his Electro-House muscles with a gritty bassline and a sidechained pump. But don’t think for one minute that means the Disco has left the room, MiGHty mOUse keeps things 100% funky and utterly infectious. MiGHty mOUse will be announcing his new single soon, featuring one of his “favourite vocalists” which, if it’s what we think it is, is flipping awesome! Trust us.

[Audio] Ben Macklin reMixes Julian Sanza & Future Feelings’ ‘The Feeling’

Julian-Sanza_

Well this is quite a meeting of talent! Julian Sanza, Colombian groovemeister, and Mexican Nu-Disco outfit Future Feelings’ smooth The Feeling has been previously released via Eskimo Recordings on their The Blue Collection album. Now, courtesy of Nein Records it’s getting a full reMix package that’ll feature the likes of Tronik Youth and Avanti serving up versions of the track alongside this summery jam from London’s Ben Macklin.

Macklin serves up a lush, breezy, House tune with one foot in a Disco groove. Getting well into the laid back vocal, Ben washed the track in hazy synths and a shimmering piano hook. Set to a choppy bassline, this reMix delivers all the bright and uplifting sounds you want from a feel good sunshine track, but keeps things strictly in the chilled out zone. The weather has turned pretty awful here in the UK, but as soon as the sin comes out again this one is on repeat.

[Audio] Max Lyazgin’s ‘Good Trip’ (+ Satin Jackets reMix)

Max Lyazgin

Russian producer Max Lyazgin will be a name familiar to anyone keeping one ear to the House and Nu-Disco scene. Having released a string of sweet releases on Nervous Recordings amongst others, Max has now teamed up with the awesome Pole Position Recordings to drop his new EP. The Good Trip EP is pretty stocked, with three originals and two reMixes it well worth the price of admission. Check out the title track, alongside a slick reMix from Germany’s Satin Jackets, below.

Good Trip deftly walks the line between compelling Deep House and laid back beach Disco. Riding on a punchy House bassline and eases you into it’s world gently, before launching into a full on Piano House jam that is equal parts floorfiller and chill out tune. Spikey leads and chirpy keys keep he mood light over a pounding Deep House backbeat. Satin Jackets keep the groove low down and bass heavy, and then pepper the track with a playful array of nostalgic synths. From the piercing 80s stabs to the distant synth Sax, The Satin Jackets mix is layered deep with little riffs and hooks that could have sounded over-complicated, but Max easily tames the track into a smooth five minutes of easy going bliss.

[Audio] Clancy reMixes Yousef & The Angel’s ‘Float Away’

yousef

Last week we brought you Grum’s Yousef & The Angel’s Float Away, part of a brand new reMix package for the track. Now we can share with you the other exciting mix on the release; a version of the tune from Clancy. Clancy has a EP out soon on Anjunadeep and we couldn’t be happier for him, that’s an awesome label and a good fit. This reMix just has us eagerly awaiting for the EP to drop.

In contrast to Grum euphoric endeavour, Clancy gives something a little more cerebral. A deep and funky House track with an ecclectic array of synth instrumentation. The track draws you in with a bright and sparking into before grabbing hold of you with a bassline that is part speaker shaking sub, part 80s SynthPop groover; a devastating combination. With a futuristic, and quite epic, feel, Clancy’s reMix of Float Away really will take you away, all the while rooting your feet in the dancefloor.

[Audio] GotSome reMix Moko’s ‘Your Love’

Moko

Awesome Bristol Bass duo GotSome’s latest recipient of their booming sound is London singer/songwriter Moko. The voice Of Chase & Status’ Count On Me, Moko is gearing up for the release of her new single Your Love next month and the boys, still riding high on the monster success of their single Bassline, have taken it to low down dirty places.

Unsurprisingly, this one’s all about the bassline; a woozy, speaker destroying, pummel of bass that rides on a shuffling, Garage-y House beat, dominating all it encounters. Supported by stabbing leads, GotSome skilfully deliver this hammerfall bass without ever letting it overwhelm Moko’s smooth vocal, Powerful stuff; I’d expect to be hearing a lot of over the coming months if I were you.
