Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Guestlist’ this week with College and you know who!

Fear Of Tigers – ‘The Guestlist’ 06/05/2011 = The week Fear Of Tigers’ special guest is Valerie Collective head honcho, and the man behind College, David Grellier and in a fit of insanity Fear Of Tigers invited me back on the show to pick my big tune of the moment, which had to be Ride The Universe’s reMix of Chromeo’s ‘Hot Mess’, alongside the usual best of ElectroPop, Dreamwave and Nu-Disco around.

Fear Of Tigers reMixes Queen Of Hearts…all hail Queen Of Tigers!

I’m starting to think that Fear Of Tigers tracks are like busses. You wait ages for one then a few come along at once!

The anthemic sweeping Pop of Queen Of Hearts’ ‘Where Are You Now?’ has had a Fear Of Tigers going over. There are a few acts out there that seem to be destined to be reMixed by FOT (I’m still waiting for a FOT reMix of Bright Light Bright Light’s ‘Love Part II’!!!) and Queen Of Hearts feels like one of them. Her accessible classic Pop voice is the perfect accompaniment for Fear Of Tigers’ sparkling retro power Pop. The track is pure ElectroPop genius with an added sprinkling of Disco licks to give it that funky edge before bringing you back to the huge Pop chorus.

Y’all know how much I love Diamond Cut and StardonE? Well, don’t tell them, but this might be my favourite version of ‘Where Are You Now?’…

Queen Of Hearts – Where Are You Now? (Fear Of Tigers reMix)

I’d also like to add that last time I wrote about Queen Of Hearts I questioned both her authenticity and the hype surrounding her. These were comments she took in the spirit in which they were intended and was pretty, well…regal, about it (i.e. she didn’t get shitty about it). People who can take not-necessarily-100%-positive comments about themselves in good humour are people I immediately warm to. She seems like good peeps.

She’s playing her début show tonight at Madame Jo-Jo’s in Soho. So good luck to her and continued good luck to Ben Fear Of Tigers in his charity marathon run.

Props to Robot & Pigeon for getting the premier on this one.

Fear Of Tigers: running for a cause

tiger

That chick is SO going to get eaten!

Just sayin’

Anyhoo, this is just a quick one to give you all a heads up that Ben from the awesomeness that is Fear Of Tigers is running in this year’s London Marathon on 17th April. He will be raising money for WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals).

In his own words:

“Hello!

I’m running the London Marathon to help raise money for the WSPA, an animal welfare charity who work in regions of the world where few, if any, measures exist to protect animals.

The WSPA are currently in Japan caring for animals who’ve been injured or displaced by the earthquake and Tsunami: http://animalsindisasters.typepad.com/wspa/2011/03/wspa-prepares-to-head-into-japan.html

On a more personal note, I’ve watched the marathon runners, who come in spitting distance of where I live, many times and it will be a great honour for me to run in the city and borough where I reside.

I’m also hoping to lose a few kilograms on the way!

Take a look at the following link to see some of the much needed work the WSPA are doing.

http://www.wspa.org.uk/wspaswork/default.aspx

You could defiantly do worse today that pop over to Ben’s Just Giving page and sponsor him a few quid. It’s a good cause and will be a lot of hard work on Ben’s part, so the more he raises for WSPA the more it will have been worth it.

Also, the Dude did give you all an album for free!

AND, if altruism and empathy isn’t enough to convince you, those who sponsor Ben’s marathon entry will also receive a super secret Fear Of Tigers reMix, I won’t tell you what it is but it’s crazy good and one of the best reMixes of this particular track you’ve ever heard!

Still here?

Ahem…

Lindbergh Palace get the Fear Of Tigers reMix treatment

Ben from Fear Of Tigers has been far too quite lately for my liking. Of everyone making massive, retro sounding, Dreamwavey, dance tracks Fear Of Tigers are among the cream of the crop so a new FoT reMix really makes you sit up and take notice!

We featured Lindbergh Palace a while back and were pretty impressed with the Brooklyn based band. The combination of Leah Hayes vocals and Ben’s music is something special indeed! The reMix has a long rhythmic build which really pays off when the track kicks in and shows a real maturing musicality to Ben’s work.

If we did ‘track of the day’, this would be it!

Lindbergh Palace’s début EP is out in December, until the go check them out on MySpace and pick up some of their reMixes:

Rosanna & Fear Of Tigers

Swede Rosanna’s début single, ‘Runaway/Waterfall’ will also be the début release for the almighty Popjustice’s brand new record label, PopJustice Hi-Fi.

There’s absolutely no one better in the world to pick quality Pop tunes (they have also signed electronic rumors fave Bright Light Bright Light) and they’ve picked a blinder to kick off with!

The original of ‘Waterfall’ is pretty sweet, it’s an ace Pop tune with a surprisingly noise drum track but it’s this Fear Of Tigers reMix that is the seriously good shit. Once again Ben from FoT makes everything sound a) like an American High School in the 80’s and b) like everything’s gonna’ be alright. It’s those layers upon layers of uplifting, retro sounding, synths that do it!

Rosanna – Waterfall (Fear Of Tigers reMix)

‘Runaway/Waterfall’ is released 22nd August, until then show the girl some MySpace love!

Fear Of Tigers reMix Yes Giantess

YesGiantess02

Neon Gold have got so many fantastic artists and producers on speed dial that any combination of their associated acts is bound to produce stunning results.

But this hook up of Indie-ElectroPopsters Yes Giantess an the ever wonderful Fear Of Tigers sounds just too good to be true, but it’s not, it manages to live up to expectations!

The Starsmith produces ‘The Ruins’ is a great SynthPop track to begin with, but Fear Of Tigers knocks it out of the park, lifting the track into a epic Nu-Disco powerhouse, a retro synth monster soundtrack to your teenage summers!

Mille Vs. Fear Of Tigers

Mille

What a day for wicked collaborations!

We’ve raved about both Mille and Fear Of Tigers numerous times in the past few months and are exited that Mille has been snapped up by Neon Gold, who apparently, have the best taste in the world. A couple of days ago they dropped Mille’s first 12” ‘Crysteena’.

Combining the best elements of Nu-disco and Dreamwave with massive distorted 8-bit melodies, this track is huge! Fear Of Tigers magic touch beefs up the dancefloor factor so that when those 8-bit leas kick in you just soar away with them.

Fear Of Tigers album drops!

FearOfTigers02

The time is upon us, Ben Berry A.K.A. Fear Of Tigers has dropped his début album and as we previously mentioned, it’s free!

Words fail to describe how good this album is, it’s really a upbeat and poppy mixture of Electro-House, Nu-Disco, Dreamwave and SynthPop.

I’ll let the music speak for itself:

Fear Of Tigers – Cossus Snufsigalonica (zShare) (MediaFire)

Fear Of Tigers – Friday Night At Geek Club (zShare) (MediaFire)

I was also happily surprised to find a version of ‘Anomaly (Calling Your Name)’, a trance classic originally by Libra Presents Taylor (Feat. Jan Johnston) (A.K.A. BT), which took me back, FoT has beautifully updated it:

Fear Of Tigers – Calling Your Name (zShare) (MediaFire)

I am utterly gobsmacked that FoT have given us, for free, and album of insanely better quality than most paid-for releases around, let’s hope some record label drives a truck full of money up to his house!

Fear Of Tigers

FearOfTigers

December 1st is a date for your diary, as on that day London’s Fear Of Tigers is dropping his new album…for free!

The album, ‘Cossus Snufsigalonica’, will be 10 tracks of, we can expect, original, retro-flavoured, Electro-House that you can sample with this tune ‘The Adventures Of Pippi Longstrump’. It’s a full on, driving, uplifting slice of Pop-Electro-House with a kinda’ end-of-the-movie finale vibe to it.

Diamond Cut step up to the reMix plate and deliver a chilled, spacey, synth rework.
