[Audio] Colleagues’ ‘Tears’

Colleagues

I should make it absolutely clear tha Sweedish outfit Colleagues aren’t actually my colleagues. I’m nit sure whose colleagues they are, I would presume their won. With actually makes them the most literally named band since 2 Men, A Drum Machine And A Trumpet. I guess they could be called Five Sweedish Colleagues Who Work Together In A SynthPop Band, but that’s a bit of a mouthful.

On to the track! Tears is their second single, and it’s a euphoric four minutes of bliss that takes a The Sound Of Arrows deep ScandiPop sound and gives it an Indie-Electro twist. The synths are all damned chipper and the vocals all heartfelt and earnest. It’d be pretty hard to be in a bad mood with this blaring out of your speakers, dishing out audio candy to everyone in sight.

[Audio] Starcadian reMixes Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’

katy-perry

When he’s not releasing one of the best albums around right now, New York SynthWaver Starcadian does a nice line in reMixes too. Although they tend to be few and far between, he always knocks it out of the park. the latest subject for one of his Sci-Fi Disco makeovers is Katy Perry’s single Dark Horse.

Rich. That’s the best work to describe this reMix. Rich and enthralling. Thick, rousing synths and Starcadian’s particular brand of orchestrated strings blend together with a seasoning of Cosmic zaps and pows to create a warm, emotionally evocative synthesizer soundtrack. Perfect for a slightly modulated version of Ms. Perry’s vocals, and a hint of Starcadian’s vocoder wizardry. Pure magic.

Out this week is the new single from Brooklyn SynthWaver turned Tropical Disco guru AIMES. It’s with this vibe in mind he unleashes his latest track, available on 12” and download, fittingly titled On Holiday. The singles comes packed with reMixes from Rotkraft, Future Feelings and Sare Havlicek. Strap in for summery vibes.

For a feel-good sunshine tune, On Holiday is pretty heavy on the synths, especially when proceedings get pounding toward the end. Before that, though, the track delivers spaced-out keys against a backdrop  of infectious Disco basslines and Topical purcussion. There’s quite a wistful vocal in the mix too, that ties the Holiday theme together nicely.

[Audio] HAERTS’ ‘Call My Name’

HAERTS

It’s not Sunday today, but I‘m writing this on a Sunday morning, and there is nothing more perfect for a Sunday morning I’ve found recently than the new track rom New York ElectroPop outfit HAERTS. More dialled back and chilled than we are previously used to with these guys, Call Me Name shows a new facet to their music, and one we welcome.

Sounding like a moody ElectroPop take on classic American Pop, Call Me Name may be our first hint of what to expect from this Brooklyn four piece’s début album, rumoured to be being co-produced by St. Lucia,. A sweeping cloud of warm synths and gentle beats. Let the almost Chillwave vibe wash over you as single Nina Fabi’s lament rings out in the distance. Like I said, Sunday stuff.

Awon

Bristolian Disco collective Bedmo Disco are back with another fresh release. The Product Of Bedminster EP contains this gem from Awon who’s gearing up for his début solo EP, The Awon Sound, later in the year. Before than one drops, though, he’s here to deliver the ultimate synth funk with No Return.

What you’ll get with No Return is Cosmic kraftwerkian beats, big Boogie synths, 80s Soul Pop leads and a resonating Dub vibe. It’s heady mix that just screams summer–in-the-city. A tack that is equal parts classic Top Of The Pops and B-Boy breakin’, all wrapped up with a Nu-Disco bow, No Return’s chugging groove is guaranteed to get your blood pumping and set you up for the weekend.

[Download] Joakim’s ‘On The Beach’

Joakim

Tigersushi boss and French electronic master Joakim has unleashed the first single from his forthcoming new album. The album’s called Tropics Of Love and is due out later in the year, before that comes On The Beach at the end of this month and will featured reMixes from CFCF and Principles of Geometry. The track is, in fact, a cover of a 1974 Neil Young track and shows off just what an ecclectic talent Joakim is.

With a moody and darker mood that we would be used to from Joakim, On The Beach is a smokey synthetic ballad. Pulsating apreggios seem to fade in and out of focus against a hazy of purcussion and haunting tones. Joakim’s modulated vocals whisper a robot’s lament against this dreamlike opus of synthetic Blues. Stick around for the saxophone solo!

[Audio] Timecop1983’s ‘Hold Me’

Timecop1983

Dutch SynthWaver Timecop1983’s new EP, Daydreaming, is the next release on Futurecop!’s new WeAreTheFuture imprint. If you want some laid back, nostalgic vibes to ease you from your work-a-day week into a chilled weekend then you’ve come to the right place. Press play, lie back, and dream.

Featuring the vocals of Hannah Edwards, Hold Me serves up a plethora of pulsating synths, smoothly easing the track ever onward amidst a sea of shimmering pads and razor sharp keys. Slow and steady, this track swirls around you, helped by Ms Edwards smokey vocal. It’s got kinda’ high school vibe, a bit raw, a bit naive, but that’s part of it’s charm. An enveloping track on an interesting EP.
