[Audio] Russ Chimes reMixes Public Service Broadcasting’s ‘Go!’

public-service-broadcasting

Earlier this month we featured Nu-Disco groover Louis La Roché’s reMix of Go! from one of our favourite live acts of the past year, Public Service Broadcasting. Now it’s the turn of one of our favourite producers of all the years, Russ Chimes, to have a crack at the tune. It’s taken from the Go! single, released last week, which also sees Errors contributing a version alongside Russ and Louis. Chimes whips up a hypnotic and euphoric House cavalcade with this one. Give it a listen.

Clocking in at just under nine minutes, this truly is an intergalactic oddessy. Chimes lays out his track like the thematic space mission; gradually building from it’s launch point, layering synths and chugging bass over a solid beat until the track breaks into full-on Balearic euphoria. A timeless and classic-sounding slice of sunrise dance music, Russ takes all the majesty of the originals subject matter and works that into a, soundtrack-esque at times, uplifting journey. You can get so lost in this track.

[Audio] Leeuw’s ‘Waters’

Leeuw

OK; first things first. Leeuw is pronounced “Lay-U” (apparently Dutch for ‘lion’). I know, I know, it’s hard to get used to, but it’s best that you start saying it right now because you’ll probably be saying it a lot in the future. The reason you’ll be saying it a lot in the future is because it’s only a matter of time before Leeuw become huge. That’s just a fact. Leeuw is otherwise knows as Californian Laura Maus (ex-of an indie-folk duo called Sense Motive) who is making some of the most compelling ElectroPop we’ve heard for a while (and that’s saying something, being the website that we are). She’s teamed up with producer Wolves for her début single. It’s called Waters, press play below.

Riding over skippy, almost Trap-y beats, Waters serves up layers upon layers of crystal clear synths for Leeuw’s heartfelt vocal delivery to glide over like silk. Kinda’ like an L.A. version of Avec Sans, there’s similarities of sound between the two, with Leeuw adding a west coast Funk quality to the mix. Managing to be both uplifting and haunting at the same time, Waters’ stacked soundscape is loaded with mystery while Laura’s introspective vocals feel very close and personal. After this kind of assured début, we’ll definitely be keeping an ear our for more from Leeuw.

[Audio] GotSome’s ‘Don’t Stop’

gotsome_thumb

Last week this tasty treat got a spin on 1Xtra from Monki. It’s a new tune from Bristolian bass heads GotSome. Whether it’s a forthcoming new single or not is not known at this time, it’s possibly a track they’ve put together for their sets, who knows? What we do know though is that it would be a sure fire summer festival monster if released. It’s fittingly called ‘Don’t Stop’, check it out below.

As you would expect, this tune is a non stop bass juggernaut. Mixing up their heavy bass sound with a sprinkling of Chicago House, GotSome deliver a stomping and mesmerising peak time tune. With a pulsating tuned kick complimenting the bassline, the track conjures up a percussive hook that kinda’ works it’s way into your brain. Add to that some House stabs and brooding vocal samples and you have a heady and intoxicating mix.

[Audio] Tear Council’s ‘My Car’

Tear Council

The shaping-up-to-be-utterly-amazing new project from ex-Van She man Matt Van Schie and ex-Van She man Touch Sensitive; Tear Council have offered up another new tune for us. My Car follows on from the duo’s début single Anywhere, and continues in a similar vein. While we were writing this post we wondered what happened to Tomek, Matt, Michael and Nicky have done loads of post-Van She stuff but Tomek is barely heard from. Well, Tomek is now a furniture designer. So that happened.

Anyway…My Car glides out of the speakers in that breezy Van She manner we’re all used to. Low key and subtly smooth, My Car blends easy going basslines and relaxed Disco beats with a cheeky vocal that doesn’t take itself to seriously. The waves of summer evening synths that roll over the track capture a carefree mood and are the icing on the nostalgic cake. Pure sunshine bliss.

The Sanfernando Sound

As we mentioned yesterday, the awesome Nude Disco posse is getting ready to unleash their second label compilation; Nude Disco Selections Vol. 2, a must for fans of a modern take on classic Italo Disco. Yesterday we premièred Jules Schimmer’s contribution to the release, today we can unveil another member of electronic rumors’ extended family The Sanfernando Sound’s offering. Here is The World Was Ours.

The Sanfernando Sound makes a break from his enigmatic and edgy recent track record to serve up a shimmering slice of summery Italo gold. The World Was Ours roll along powered by a shockingly infectious bassline that underpins a plethora of lush synths and starlight melodies. Sprinkled over this delicious dancefloor cake are electro toms, a cheeky vocal sample and orchestral hits. Now, if you’re a long time reader of this webzine you will be well aware of our opinion about orchestral hits; they make everything better, the make everything perfect, so The Sanfernando Sound had is at the first hit. Funky fresh fun.

Nocturnal Sunshine Believe Ft. Chelou Official Video YouTube

Here is the video for Believe, the current single from Maya Jane Coles’ dubby alter-ego; Nocturnal Sunshine. The track, taken from her just released self-titled début album, features a soulful vocal from London vocalist Chelou against the warm bassy sounds.,

The clip, directed by The Fashtons, is a kaleidoscopic, and slightly creepy, study.

Nocturnal Sunshine’s self-titled début album is released 25th May.

[Download] Le Visiteur’s ‘Will She Be There?’

Le Visiteur

The Reason EP is Housemeister Le Visiteur’s second release for MiGHty mOUse’s label Nightfilm Music. It’s a three track affair from the Scottish Producer/DJ/Blogger and to mark the release Nightfilm are giving one of the tracks away Scot free (don’t judge me!). Will She Be There? enlists the help of Nick Paterson from Edinburgh duo Neon Liston on vocal duties and delivers some nicely un-pretentious and bouncy club sounds.

Based around a springy Disco bassline, Will She Be There? precariously straddles both Disco and House while putting an easy-going, stripped down twist on both. Solid beats and a nostalgic hook are intercut with warm pads and attention holding flourishes while Paterson gives it his smoothest vocal all (including a (presumably unintentional) hilarious “get her booty on the floor tonight” line). If you’re like us then you’ll be saving up this tune, and indeed the whole EP, for the weekend. Fingers crossed for good weather, ‘cos this is sunshine, shades on, music and worth your attention.
