Nu-Disco groover B-Xentric! should be a name well known to readers of this blog, he’s knocked out some amazing reMixes in the past couple of years, and some cool original tracks too!
He recently dropped his latest jam over on his SoundCloud page and, seeing as he’s gracing my fair city of Bristol with his presence this coming weekend I thought it was high time I shared it with you lot. It’s got the funk more than his previous work, but that’s no bad thing, the rolling sax is pure joy!
Xenomania drummer/songwriter Florrie has a new single out soon, ‘Give Me Your Love’ which, as well as being a nice slice of Pop, will also feature reMixes from habitual Florrie reMixer Fred Falke and the man Justin Faust.
Falke’s reMix is a power Pop track with arpeggios that drag you straight to the dancefloor, but it’s Justin Faust’s reMix that really hooks. From the electro toms onward it’s a crazy good Nu-Disco stormer.
From it’s seemingly never ending build to the eventual beat and bass drop it’s clear that the FHR guys had a lot of fun reMixing this track. It kinda’ takes classic OMD and puts it through an eclectic Electro meat grinder and manages to put it back together in a coherent, and catchy way.
I love the fact that SynthPop pioneers such as OMD are getting such hip names in the current Electro scene to reMix for them, it shows they are still enjoying, and keeping up with, electronic music.
The ‘If You Want It’ single is released 6th September with ‘The History Of Modern’ slated to be released later this year.
Seconds out! Round two! (But first watch part one!)
Director Saman Keshavarz’s mini-movie to accompany all three tracks on Russ Chimes’ forthcoming EP ‘Midnight Club’ continues with part two, ‘Tertre Rouge’.
The story is unfolding, but in even less of a linier fashion than part one. Still, things are coming to light, there’s shit you should know, man! I’ll let you just watch.
Musically this is my favourite track to come from the EP so far, this is like a mixture of classic, Valerie days Chimes and this year’s super reMixer Chimes, and a perfect combination of the two.
The 3rd and final video premieres 9th September and the EP is coming out in October.
Peterborough Synth-House duo are back and dropping their début EP ZX on brand new label Metamimetic this month.
These guys do an ace job of bringing both the Noisy electro-House bangerness of the likes of Justice and the Ed Banger crew and the smooth retro 80’s sounds of the Valerie posse et al. This unique combination makes their music both smooth and powerful at the same time mixing distorted chainsaw synths, retro keys and 8-bit sounds into one, surprisingly melodic, organised chaos. Go check their EP at the Metamimetic webite.
French crazy disco duo Acid Washed get rerated to some power harpsichord work here as Danger, one of the finest Electro producers in the world, delivers a spartan (for him) electronic epic that hold off dropping the bass until the very last minute.
Acid Washed self titles 12” is out 17th September with reMixes from The Hacker, Mickey Moonlight, Daniel Haaksman, Digikid84, Lazy Flow, Jungle Fiction and Stuff also.
So, I was thinking, ‘can I do anotherLexiconDon post?’. With so many recent reMixes and their incredible début album dropping electronic rumors is becoming inundated with LexiconDon posts. Well, sorry, but the answer is yes, I can do another post, mainly ‘cos they are worth it, but also ‘cos these two new reMixes of ‘Student Body’ are blowing up!
I’m not going to go on about LexiconDon, do a search on this site to read how we’ve hyped them up in the recent months and a review of their album. What we’ve got here is Bit Funk and Build & Clancy taking on ‘Student Body’ for said album. the internet seems to be going ape shit over the Bit Funk reMix, and for good reason, it’s a Disco flavoured floor pleaser which washes the track with French Touch and smooth guitar licks. However, I think I prefer the Build & Clancy reMix, it’s got these nice big 80’s chords, over a pumping Nu-Disco backing that get me going just that little bit more.
Here it is! Part 1 of Russ Chimes’ ‘Midnight Club’ EP and accompanying video directed by Saman Keshavarz. Not only an I loving the music, awesome Nu-Disco a cut about the rest of the pack, but also the narrative Saman is laying out to be continues in parts 2 and 3 of the EP.
‘Never Look Back’, track 1 of the EP, is a frantic Disco laden tune. If you, like us, have loved Mr. Chimes reMixes in the past two year you kinda’ know what to expect. With this EP he’ll set the bar for Nu-Disco that much higher and the first part of the ‘Midnight Club’ mini-movie, well, I won’t spoil it for you but suffice to say I can see some ass-kicking going on in parts 2 and 3!
The video for Part 2 of the EP is coming 1st September, the EP should be out in October.
