The Magician Jeppe Plastic Plates

the magician

Plastic Plates reMixing The Magician? You know you’re in for a treat there! Two of the ruling acts in synthesizer Disco in a head on collision where the explosion sounds like an electro tom roll.

‘I Don’t Know What To Do’, featuring Jeppe on vocals, was already a top slice of Disco flavoured ElectroPop but Plastic Plates bring in a shuffling space Funk vibe. I would kinda’ like to see this overdubbed into the Disco scene in the 80’s Buck Rogers TV Movie with Gil Gerard & Erin Gray gettin’ down.

The Magician (Feat. Jeppe) – I Don’t Know What To Do (Plastic Plates reMix)

‘I Don’t Know What To Do’ is released 3rd October on Kitsuné Music.

Final DJs’ new tune

finaldjs

Germany’s Final DJs have dropped a new tune intent on putting some funk in your soul.

Not nearly a full of soaring synths as their previous work, ‘Funk In Your Soul’ is a slow building Disco tune that owes as much to LA Nu-Funk a la DâM-FunK as it does to Dreamwave or Nu-Disco. The loose groove is quite a stark contrast to their regimented quantized tracks, and that of their contemporaries, but works really well for a late night summer jam.

Darius

darius

Darius’ new tune for Shiny Disco Club is brings the tempo down and the sidechaining up.

In Daruis’ hand his samples become mid-tempo pulsating, hypnotic Disco brain worms. They’ll burrow into the pleasure centres of your brain and live there, funking to the thick synths and cut-up madness of ‘Falling In Love’.

The Juan MacLean’s new tune

juan-maclean

‘Everybody Get Close’ is the new tune from DFA jack-of-all-trades The Juan MacLean.

It’s the title track from his forthcoming new record, due out November 6th, which collects various bits and pieces from the last few years of  his career. ‘Everybody Get Close’ is an analog Disco workout, all vocoders and sweeping synths. With one foot heavily in Moog Funk this track feels like old school The Juan MacLean and that raw New York Disco DFA sound.

‘Everybody Get Close’ is available on digital only release from November 6th.

Justice. Helix.

justice

This one goes out to everyone who’s been living under a rock this past week.

More new Justice ,in the form of album track ‘Helix’, has reared it’s Electro head. ‘Helix’ is huge stadium Electro as we’ve come to expect from the duo, with that impressive musicality that runs through all their work. There’s a lot of griping about the new Justice tracks around, but I just don’t see it, to me this sounds quintessentially Justice. Maybe they are just making the album I want them to make (melodic and funky with an edge of aggression) and not the album the rest of the world want them to make (fucking 320kbps bang0rz). I dunno, I really like it.

♫ Justice – Helix

As expected reMixes are already being chopped up, here’s Mr. Moustache‘s Disco edit with a few familiar samples thrown in, medley style..

Database’s ‘New Disco’ EP

database

Totally forgot to post this in my crazy couple of weeks but I couldn’t let it sit here un-exposed.

Database’s ‘New Disco’ EP for Kitsuné is out today, and it’s a storming three tracks of synthesized Disco aural gold.  As a taster of what to expect, check out this growling edit of the title track. Heavy bass, electronic squelches and a Disco voice of doom. What more do you need to get you out of your seat? The track has some quite hardcore old school EBM and Italo leanings, being slightly more aggressive than your average analog Disco with a hint of the harder Yuksek stuff.

Louis La Roché X Shook

louis-la-roche1

And once again Shook rock it. reMixing Louis La Roché’s new tune ‘The Wall’ his laid back DiscoPop slides effortlessly into your brain.

One again Shook employs the Funk style Electric Piano with his beats to produce this smooth, chilled, late 70’s groove that works so well with his Disco basslines. It really is Shook’s playing that is the star of this reMix, I could easily listen to a whole album of his tinkling the ivories.

Louis La Roché – The Wall (Shook reMix)

The ‘Gimme Gimme’/‘The Wall’ single is out 19th September on Ever After Records.
