Monsieur Adi mashes-up Ellie Goulding and Daft Punk

This is pretty special! The Nu-Disco kind of strings Monsieur Adi has dropped this gobsmackingly good mash-up between Ellie Goulding’s ‘Guns & Horses’ and Daft Punk’s ‘Make Love’.

This is one of those occasions where the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts. I haven’t heard a version of ‘Guns 7 Horses’ that highlights the real beauty in Eliie’s voice as well as it is showed off here. I love her vocals anyway, but in Adi’s hands there almost become an instrument, one of his beloved strings.

The man Justin Faust has busted his reMix skills over San Francisco based Disco Rockers Butterfly Bones ‘Crystal Caves’ and the end result is a truly astonishing slice of groove thick, sweeping, retro Disco awesomeness. With a bassline that is targeted directly at making your head nod and a soaring lead line that takes you to another planet, this track is pretty much essential.

Fiero reMixes the hell out of Christopher Cross

Take a look at that badass picture , epic huh?

That right there is Christopher Cross he wailed on his guitar and sung about meaningful shit in America in the early 80’s. The kind of powerful nonsense found on every awesome 80s movie soundtrack. Now the Fiero posse have brought him kicking and screaming, on the back of a unicorn, into the 21st century (or at least a retro Disco version of it) with their latest reMix. Taking 1983’s ‘All Right’, already a spine-tingling slice of throwaway brilliance in it’s own right, and tuned it into a sweeping Nu-Disco journey from the dancefloor to the centre of your heart.

At the end of this month the bomb finally drops and London’s top ElectroPop DJ team JBAG’s début single sees the light of day.

Yelle features on Kitsuné’s free EP

We are barely into 2011 and Kitsuné Music are already dishing out the presents. To celebrate a new decade they are giving away an EP full of some of their best releases from 2011.

The ‘Happy 2011 EP’ contains tracks from Digitalism, May86, Play Paul, Villa, Acidkids, Black Strobe and this monster from French ElectroPop mental case Yelle from her recent Kitsuné single ‘La Musique’. The tEPr reMix is just over 3m30s of deep analog Pop with a sparse atmosphere that gives way to some massive Disco chords.

Frankmusik pays tribute to Daft Punk

Frankmusik has been giving away songs these past couple of weeks, over at freefrankmusic.com and his latest offering is an epic, namedropping, tribute to Daft Punk.

‘Our Discovery’ is a mash up of Daft Punk song titles and Riffs into one awesome DiscoPop tune that revels in the pure joy of being a Daft Punk fan and perfectly captures the excitement of the turn of the century. All this is wrapped up into a soulful ElectroPop song that is built (by robots?) to get you dancing.

Chromeo + La Roux + Duck Sauce = Party!

We posted a really shitty rip of the Duck Sauce reMix of Chromeo’s version of ‘Hot Mess’ featuring with Elly Jackson from La Roux a while back and while we don’t usually post tracks twice this tune really needs to be heard in it’s entirety.

Duck Sauce is, of course, Armand Van Helden and Chromeo’s Dave 1’s brother and nearly legendary producer A-Track and together they knock out a massive House reMix, I imagine you’ll be hearing this track a lot when it drops later this month.

AXXE team up with FlashWorx to cover the theme from Grease…and it’s awesome!

Canadian DiscoPop duo AXXE have teamed up with FlashWorx to help us kick start 2011 with their latest offering, a cover of the Frankie Valli penned theme song from 1978’s Grease.

Now, when I first heard from AXXE’s Doug that they had covered ‘Grease (Is the Word)’ I was slightly hesitant, I mean, that could go really badly. It could be cheesetastic. Thankfully all my fears disappeared on hearing the track! The team have actually done wonders, taking such a recognisable, and kitsch, track and making a seriously powerful electronic groove. They effortlessly make it so cool that you start to wonder why no-one has done it before.

Once you get into the track it’s amazing how well the song lends itself to electronic dance music, or at least how well AXXE and FlashWork have shaped it into a dancefloor epic. The vocal melody in the verse just begs to be belted out over a kickin’ Electro bassline, and that’s just what you get, surrounded by shimmering 80’s synth work. This track works awesomely as both a party tune and as some slick late night listening.

S’up Peeps? NYE is upon us and I hope each and every one of you have an awesome night full of drinking and dancing, laughing and loving.

I wanna’ take this quick opportunity to thank all of you readers, from the bottom of my heart, seriously. To know that I have helped, even just a little, to introduce people to new music, to promote new bands, to connect artists and listeners, is not something I take for granted and consider it a great honour.

The electronic rumors awards: electronic rumors’ Hall Of Fame 2010!!!

As soon as we had the notion to do a yearly Hall Of fame award it was a pretty forgone conclusion as to who would be the first recipient (actually, the first four years were pretty obvious!). There was never any doubt.

If you read electronic rumors, if you’re into electronic music, whether it’s some brand of Pop, whether you’re a Dubstep fiend, whether your preferred method of musical enjoyment is stroking your beard to the latest experimental release, whether you’re all glowsticks and euphoria or a Funk loving lover, the music you love probably wouldn’t exist without Kraftwerk.

To call them electronic music pioneers seems like an understatement. Were they the first to make music from synthesizers? Of course not, but pre-Kraftwerk the synth was either the tool of pompous Prog Rock banks or noise mongers who cared little for songs. While Kraftwerk resided heavily into the world of the latter the difference they made is the unison of experimental electronics and repetitive rhythms and melody. Which is essentially electronic Pop. They were a direct influence on the first generation if SynthPop artists and synthesizer Disco and Hip Hop producers who, in turn, went on to influence everything we know and love.

Four German technicians, who had no interest in becoming music stars, are signally the most important band I can think of.
