Funerals reMixing Burial Hex. That all sounds a bit ominous, but the result is pretty epic deep Electro.
Otherworldly and dreamlike, Funerals capture the throbbing dread of the original but morph it into a hypnotic Bleep House odyssey that moves through various atmospheric soundscapes, including a synth part that resembles a haunting Morricone harmonica, with a relentless kick drum as your tour guide.
♫ Burial Hex – Book of Delusions (Funerals Lanakila reMix)
Funerals are gearing up to drop a new reMix album, featuring a bunch of people and Goteki.
Funerals reMix of ‘Book Of Delusions’ features on the bonus CD that accompanies Burial Hex’s new LP.
Flight Facilities’s excellent ‘Foreign Language’ single has been about for about a month now, so if you haven’t bought it yet maybe we can tempt you to with the BeNi reMix?
The EP holds a whole host of sweet Disco mixes of the track, BeNi in particular gets his groove on with a killer bassline that bounces the track along nicely. This reMix just rolls out the speakers and oozes onto the floor it is so laid back and funky.
Here’s the video for Ronika ‘s forthcoming new single ‘Only Only’.
Ron’s looking fly doing her early ‘80’s video thing, which she now has down to a fine art. Love the track, love the video, totally awesome, I wish I could talk about it more, but there’s something I need to chat about that’s been on my mind for a while now. See you after the vid:
OK, so anyone who follows us on Twitter (@electronicrumor) will know I’ve been gagging to play you this track for weeks now. It’s Fear Of Tigers’ reMix of ‘Only Only’, and it’s one of the best reMixes I’ve heard all year.
We love Ronika and we love Fear Of Tigers, so we were pretty destined to like this track, but I was blown away on my first listen and have been rockin’ it ever since, and I’ll tell you why. It reminds me of ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ by Bomb The Bass, a track I have loved for over two decades, with extra helpings of B-Boy Electro. Fear Of Tigers have captured the mood of the song perfectly bringing in an ‘80’s Electro feel that is absolutely in line with what Ronika is doing. With old School beats, stabs, Simmons tom rolls and a bassline that would kill both on a Lino down the Underpass or in the Top Of The Pops studio, Ronika and Fear Of Tigers have brought together my two biggest, and longest standing, musical loves, Electro (of the breakin’ variety) and ElectroPop, with a hint of my Disco mistress, in a completely modern production that hasn’t left my MP3 player for over a month now, and for that I will love them both forever.
Apologies for gushing, but I REALLY FUCKING LIKE THIS TRACK!
♫ Ronika – Only Only (Fear Of Tigers reMix)
‘Only Only’, and it’s flipside ‘In The City’, is released October 12th, Ronika kicks off the EP with a lunch part at the Lock Tavern in Camden, London on the same day.
Cadillac are a synth fuelled Australian DreamPop outfit who are gearing up for the release of their ‘Dreams’ single on Future Classic.
Featuring vocals work from Joel Bryne from Wolf & Cub, ‘Dreams’ is upbeat, fun and totally sun drenched. It’s Australian Indie-Electro enough to be recognisable so, but not samey enough to sound like everything else, which is a nice balance, as no-one does Indie-Electro like our Antipodean friends. The guitars never seem intrusive and just float over an array of late 70’s Disco synths and early ‘90’s Indie vocals, it’s an exciting, beach party, of a combination.
♫ Cadillac – Dreams
‘Dreams’ is released 24th October on Future Classic.
24th October on vinyl and digital through Future Classic SoundCloud
Later next month Frances best ElectroPop trio Yelle release a reMix EP of ‘Comme Un Enfant’, from their awesome ‘Safari Disco Club’ album.
Kitsuné’s latest outfit, Juveniles provide the first mix, getting their quirky Indie-Electro vibe on with a bouncy stripped down synth Disco sound played off against stuttery Indie guitars. Second Date’s take on the track introduces some deep tribal sounds to the track. their version makes for a nice mix between proggy Electro and ElectroPop and a little Tropical flavour.
This week saw the release of our favourite Méxican retro SynthPopper DannielRadall new single.
‘To Make You Mine’ features Steffaloo and is another wonderful slice of Lo-Fi ElectroPop from Danniel, loaded with slick ‘80’s licks. Buzzing synths, roomy reverb and a cool summer vibe ooze from the speakers when you a slap this track on. Not following any retro-cool pack when it comes to making music, DannielRandall continues to carve out a unique little niece in ‘80’s inspired music.
