Lo-Fi-Fnk’s ‘Kissing Taste’ video

Lo-Fi-Fnk’s new single, from their ‘The Last summer’ album will be ‘Kissing Taste’.

Magnus Härdner directed this chilly clip. I get cold just looking at it.

The single will feature reMixes from Lemaitre, Main Attrakionz and this Dubsteppy/90’s House crossover interpretation  from Krusha.

Icarus’ unique albums

Icarus

You’re either going to love this, or hate it. But you can’t knock the fact that the concept for IDM act Icarus’ new album is something pretty special.

Their new release, ‘Fake Fish Distribution, is limited to 1000 copies. what’s interesting about that is each copy will be unique. Using generative programming techniques Icarus have crafted and experimental synthesizer odyssey that morphs itself, which they recorded 1000 times.  “Icarus’ album, Fake Fish Distribution (FFD), uses generative and parametric software techniques to create 1000 unique records. FFD comes in the form of a vast array of structured variations on the album’s musical content, feeding unique versions to each unique listener. The album is available as a limited edition, via the normal medium of music distribution — the media file download — with each of the 1000 versions only being sold once and in sequential order. Upon purchase, you become the owner of that unique version.” Here’s a taste of what to expect if you happen to buy album number 500.

New track from Worship

worship

Sometimes life throws you an unexpected treat, this morning it comes in the form of a cosmic new tune from Worship.

‘Saturn 4’ is definitely my tune of the day, it’s a head on collision between ‘70’s Disco and Sweeping SynthWave. With a Moroder groove and some massive Disco strings the track has got a nice nostalgic feel, but this is juxtaposed with some serious space age synthetics. 2m34s in, once you hit the “Rock It, Don’t Stop It” drop, you’ll be hooked in. This is what we’re getting down to in the future, in fact this might have been what they were getting down to on Buck Rodgers.

Let Em Riot

Let Em Riot

Let Em Riot is a project out of Orange County who’s music is electronic Pop in the best tradition of ‘80’s teen movie soundtrack fodder.

His latest tune, ‘Lovers And Losers’, the first taste of his forthcoming début full length record, is a wonderfully nostalgic affair.  Shot through with that strain of melancholy that signifies all the best ‘80’s anthems, this slice of SynthPop whist keeping things Poppy and danceable. Let Me Riot has really nailed the retro Pop sound, without resorting to cheese or parody ‘Lovers And Losers’ is epic , passionate Pop music to soundtrack your teenage heartbreaks.

Yuksek’s ‘Off The Wall’ video

Here’s the video for Yuksek’s new single, ‘Off The Wall’.

Romain Segaud directed this mirror image fest which I think is supposed to look cool, but is actually pretty nightmarish.

Noosa

Coming out of NYC is Noosa, a new DreamPop outfit made up of Sky Barbarick and Matt Buszko.

This is the first track taken from their forthcoming début EP. ‘Fear Of Love’ is a song of deep, dark grooves juxtaposed with a big Pop chorus. It’s definitely got an NYC vibe about it, that slightly raw, indie feel to it, even being ElectroPop. There’s no sheen here, it’s gritty and feels real. It’s swirling synths and heavy bass  aren’t overproduced to hell and the sultry vocals feel live and personal. Did I mention the big Pop chorus?

Noosa’s début EP is out this Spring.

Enjoyed’s new EP

Enjoyed

Is post-Chillwave a thing yet? If it is I would say Enjoyed are trailblazing the Genre, he bills himself as Joystep, not sure if thet’s a thing either, and his new EP, ‘Paws Extended’ (a stuffed-full-of-extra-goodies version of his ‘Paws’ EP of last year) definitely has more in common with things that end with ‘wave than things that end with ‘step.

The lead track of the EP, ‘Paws’ is warm and sublime, a swirling soundscape of relaxed Synths and reverb washed vocals that ebb and flow over a simple ,but Funk laden bassline. It’s ghostly groove is compelling and intoxicating. The EP continues with the hazy dub of ‘‘Waterfoot’ before launching into ‘Pupsqueak’, a meeting of the best of Chillwave with the more eclectic end of LA Funk. A deep, loose rhythm section provides rolling bass for the distant vocals and toytown synth leads to play over. ‘Swap’ sees Enjoyed in a hypnotic House mode that demands to be played in seedy clubs on hot city nights. reMixes are supplied by Glyphs, Vanilla, Ghosting Season and  NazcarNation, who bring the broken beats and droning synths in a mid-frequency, mesmerizing, slice of Urban Funk.
